I knew blue would win. She's calm, cool, and collected. No showboating. No wasted energy. Just there to get the job done. A true athlete and competitor.
I knew the blue would win because she has sriracha socks
They are both gladiators and deserves respect
She reminded me of that character girl in the movie "Kick-Ass"..
She’s hell on that arm drag duck under she kept doing.
I could not do salto even in my better days. I adore the girl in Red.
The girl in pink tried to intimidate her opponent but the girl in blue stayed humble and deservedly won. 👍👍
Nah, the blond was just pumping her self up. No tricks there. The blond is a great wrestler. She lost and shook the other girls hand immediately. She is a class act. Your assessment is wrong. On a side note. My move was the headlock. To see the brunette throw it on and rock it like I did back in the day blew my mind. I almost want to cry. I went to states with the headlock alone. Anyway, GREAT GIRLS!
I had a few opponents (I grew up wrestling in Pa.) try that intimidation crap on me.
They'd run to the center of the mat and take their stance as I just casually walked out to the center.
Shook hands and I proceeded to take them down and eventually either pin them or tech fall.
@@jkotarsky Same, that headlock at the end was beautiful. Her leg drive, the commitment to the takedown. For the past couple days I've been rewatching it and there's nothing else to say except bravo.
When I wrestled I was a big fan of using the headlock, head and arm, and the cradle. I'm tall and I was lanky back then so I used that body length to my advantage by spreading it like a spider or tying them up. I was never pinned, refuse to lose. But watching that takedown, what a work of art.
Edit: looking back on it I think I lucked out with my school, our team was known real quick for using the snake. Lots of matches we won with it. But I didn't care for that move, sounds basic but I found incredible success just waiting for the right time to sink that headlock instead. As long as I didn't go over them, I could sit pretty on them while they struggled to get back a point.
I think those were my best days. The pins I made. Even my losses. No sport teaches you about yourself as much as wrestling.
Edit edit: I guess I forgot also to agree that the girl in red did nothing wrong. Excellent sportsmanship and tremendous effort. A cooler head won that match is all. Red really almost had it at the 3:00 mark, that spin. All she had to do was keep blue's legs from spinning herself, but instead blue was allowed to throw her momentum around to avoid the pin. You can't just expect the opponent to give up after all, you have to really prove it to them.
Great sportsmanship at the end. Both girls gave it their all. This was a great match.
What a superb performance by Alvarado in blue! She looked smaller than her opponent - yet she was clearly the stronger and fitter of the two!
She wasn’t presumptuous. She was calm and seemingly confident. I was glad she won the match.
I think she was quicker and had better technique than the blond but not quite as strong.
She should wear headgear
Fighting is about technique. not so much about power
@@davehart7943 a combo of both. strength to weight ratio matters.
Unlike women's basketball this is a woman's sport i can watch and appreciate.
lol, feel the same way, only if they're skilled though.
I just loved this match. It just goes to show that the basics are the basics! Well done, Alvarado! 😊
I was for the girl in red. She has the spirit. And eventually she will win.
@@dgb0111thank you, she was 11 and the girl she wrestled was 15 and she is normally is the top in her age group boys and girls
She was 13
I'm a jiu jitsu teacher here in Brazil and I love Greco-Roman wrestling, and right at the beginning of the video I noticed the concentration of the girl in blue and it was clear that she would win !!🇩🇪🇧🇷🙋🏻♂️

@@JiuJitsuBJJ ... Oss...🙏🏻🇩🇪🇧🇷🙋🏻♂️
My friend this is not Greco Roman wrestling this is free still wrestling in Greco Roman there is no woman championship. The difference is that in Greco Roman you need more power because you can only catch your opponent up from the waist and you can't use your foot to throw him down
@@johnmech5365 ... Thanks for the reply my friend. 🙏🏻
I know it's not Greco Romana what I meant is that I'm a fan of Greco Romana so I loved this style application in this excellent competition of this video ! 🇩🇪🇧🇷🙋🏻♂️
Indeed. She is in the right mindset. Very calculated. Wish red saved that energy to roll thru the headlock
wow.. not even sure how i got to this video.. but what a match, i did wrestling when i was in high school, and it wasn't easy.. seeing these two girls reminded me of a few of my own matches. great job girls!
ikr, i'm also confused about how i got here. but was a very nice match!
The YT algorhythm knows we're grappling fans!
I will be searching more Maya content in the future, I hope she inspires more girls to take up wrestling. I am sharing these videos to my friends and family so that they encourage their kids to take up wrestling.
The girl in red needs to stop show boating, and concentrate on the match
I disagree. She's a young girl. She's not supposed to be putting so much pressure on herself at that age. That goes for boys too. Children shouldn't be pressured; they should just have fun. Maybe wrestling isn't going to be her sport, but at least when she get's older, she can say she had a lot of fun doing it. Leave the pressure and intensity to the adults. Pressuring young children is not healthy for them. Win/lose, just have fun.
@@jeffjeff8562 Wtf are you talking about, she pressured herself by her own ego. Good for her that she learned a lesson.
I totally agree.
@@finzl Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. She shouldn't be putting pressure on herself. Nor should her parents or coaches. At that young an age, she should just be having fun. Win or lose. She was out there doing flips. That isn't wrestling. That's just having fun. I applaud her for just being goofy out there. There are also much younger girls in this tournament. Some of them look like they're 6 years old. Do you think those 6-year old's should be pressured to win?
I just wish I had her energy
Золотистая! Умничка! Без выпендрёжа)))) Так держать💪🤘
Nice job to both wrestlers. Definitely see them both doing well in the future.
Driven by determination and gutts these girls show us what can be achieved with hard work and perseverance !
The cameraman did an amazing job. Great action! Can you film more of Maya’s matches? She’s so fun to watch.
Man... I am so impressed by these two young ladies. Also, the red showed great sportsmanship at the end even after losing such a tough battle. Great job to both of these warriors. Much admiration and respect for them.
I never even watched a wrestling match before and this was awesome lol.
The speed and the strength of the girl in blue was great, but I also enjoyed the girl in red's ability to change the dynamic at times. She definitely was trying to psych out her opponent in free time, but then I enjoyed that too. Fun to watch, for sure, the girl in red even if she does showboat a bit too much.
well this isn’t entertainment wrestling lmao
Thank you for the Compliment.
@@MayaAlvarado-ln9ty don't get discouraged by people saying you were bloating or whatever. This is not the olympics, if it were, im sure you wouldn't be doing flips, this is about learning from your mistakes and keep on improving, and always appreciate the process even in defeat. You almost had her pinned in 1st round, great fight and great sportsmanship.
Congrats to both of them! A very well played match. This is even better on review, having seen this and several other matches now. Maya's skill is amazing! At first I thought Kara-lynn was being a little cocky with her attitude, her aggressive stance and actions. I don't see other contenders do this. But I guess for some it is all part of the show. She wants to get a psychological advantage and on some opponents that may very well work sometimes (not today). I point out the part at 1:56 where she did the no-hand cartwheel not once but twice. She is athletic and wants her opponent to know this.
Maya is more skilled and patient. She doesn't need to showboat. She overpowers her opponent and wins. But look at the end of the match when the referee declares Maya the victor. 6:59 Kara-lynn's attitude is now entirely different. She congratulates Maya and even comes over and gives her a hug. Such a generous admission of defeat is 180 degrees opposite of the display she was giving in the match. I really only appreciated this after having seen a bunch of other videos and no other defeated opponent was so cool about it, some even tried to walk off without the handshake or victory presentation.
I’m actually not that really patient and was struggling with this match
@@MayaAlvarado-ln9ty Thanks for the reply! I hope you continue to do well. 🙂
Wow, what a cool match. Both girls were awesome.
An amazing bout for its technical maneuvers, sportsmanship and prowess for both participants...💕
crazy how athletic these kids are. Pink was just casually doing handless flips inbetween rounds. 1:52

I don't know how I stumbled on this but it's good stuff!
Love to see girls learn to wrestle, it's fantastic.
Wow just super impressed with these young ladies, they left nothing on mat expect good sportsmanship and respect!
Good match she didn't let her aggressive behavior intimate her and she just completely had moves down hands down a good wrestler
6:47 You got to love that killer look! Maya is so badass!
That is awesome! They're serious about their sport, respect!
I love the fighting spirit of both of them. That was fun to watch.
Great effort by both.
Nice handshake and hug at the end...that is sportsmanship!

Red immediately had me voting blue. too psycho
Girl in red tried to intimidate and psych the girl in blue out. But girl in blue has more experience and knew she was better than her opponent.
hey... please upload all videos from this tournament....... Especially Lyric Hetzer...
Great job by Alvarado and a shout out to Dover for her good sportsmanship even after losing. Well done on both sides. Good match.
Both girls were awesome.
Talent i Profesjonalizm z wolą walki jak na juniorki - obiecujące.
good stuff. Glad to see girls teams when I was in high school we had one gal that wrestled with us boys.
I like the little rivalry around fanning the combatants. The Blue girls have good humor about it! The girl in Red must be angling towards a future in WWE. As the villain.
The 1 in the blue has very good focus and technique.
I am glad people see thru the intimidation and atittude. Someone needs to quit teaching showing toughness and being over confident. Real talent wins.
Outstanding performance from both Yung ladies.
I like the contrast in styles
[in approach nd game plan]made for a great match-up.
Cameraman deserves a raise.
Blue comes in calm, collected, and confident while Red feels the need to psyche herself up to the face the challenge.
What an amazing bout!!!
the colors they are wearing is so appropriate to their demeanor
The girl in red was showboating for those watching,, the girl in blue was fully focused on her apponent. Well done blue 👏
Opponent
Like a Boss , Maya Alvarado
Excellent coaching for these youths
The girl in blue is pretty even keel. Nothing seems to phase her.
Future assassin
The only reason why nothing phased me during that tournament is because I just really wanted to go home
Amazing match had to rewind alot due to the lightning speed and pretzel flexibility …like sheesh gj
After seeing the girl in red beat herself like a crackhead and the disrespectful handshake prior to the match, it made the end result very satisfying.
Great job girl in Blue! Congratulations. 👏👏
Outstanding job Maya
They seemed well-matched; almost equally talented and fit.
I hope that the girl in pink will continue to do this for another season, but she needs to use all of her energy against the other girls and boys.
Wow! Another bad-ass moment from Alvarado! I love that look on her face at the end, that "I got this in the freakin' bag" look. No non-sense, all business!
Great sportsmanship at the end!
Blue is so cool she doesn't need the fanning between rounds. She's ice cold from start to finish. I wonder what it's like to be so quietly hardcore in middle school. If were her age, in her homeroom, I would have already composed 6 or 7 heavy guitar riffs in my head to announce her entry.
Well thought out post
The only reason why I didn’t need Fanning is because I don’t like people around me that much
@MayaAlvarado-ln9ty Are you the girl in blue? You're fantastic! I hope you're doing great in life!
Everyone you see in this video are from the USA
Maya is awesome.
Soon as the slapping started i started thinking "oh shes gonna have a hard time winning" and when the flips happened "ok this match is over". Love when a showboater gets smacked lol
То когда искал обзор пикера Сабанеев фотон про, а ютуб подкинул это.)) Но признаюсь было интересно👍
Watch a good match.. Love the socks. Great work young ladies.
Thank you I have quite the collection
Interesting match. The red girl's intensity will serve her better when she hones her fundamentals.
What a great finish!
The girls are amazing, I must admit.
Great job Maya!
Thanks yall!
Red making me laugh
I didn't know about this for girls till i seen it on CBS Sunday Morning 3/26/2023
Bro what is she doing😂😂😂
They are very skilled, impressive
Great match , really like the style and flair of Ms. Dover though. Little bit of WWF thrown in can never hurt! I wrestled in the Midwest myself in the 70's and it's great to see the tradition continue and add young ladies as well now .
WWE hurt her.shes not focused on the task at hand thus she lost, appropriately.
Show boating is just that a show like WWE-FAKE.
Alvarado in blue was focused and prepared and got the job done the right way.
@@dandaniels4558 Actually studies have shown that the type of behaviour pink was engaged in before the bout can help activate the adrenal system or some shit, I don't know, I'm not a doctor and I don't care.
And that's the fact, Jack! But I don't know, whatever.. who cares, really. 😂👍@@Jagar_Tharn
Maya Alvarado, the coolest girl in the world.
Thank you
Wow! dunno why this ended up in my feed but, what a couple of lil savages! And, i knew from the get go that the girl in blue would win. She just has it all together. Smart lil girl.
I didn’t know that girl wrestling was a thing and with some serious athletes. Great work girls
These girls have great futures!
Мне очень нравится. когда после боя, противники дружески обнимаются и жмут руки!!!
что ж им врагами становиться?😉
Girl in Red was not showboating, was just trying to psych out the other wrestler and showed more of a lack of confidence in herself. Give the girl in red credit, she showed great sportsmanship at the end of the match to which I was pleasantly surprised.
It’s the factor for me that I had a little to no energy for that tournament and honestly I was already mad
I wish humble people won every time. Thanks a million to the parents of the athlete in blue.
Thank you my dad is actually the one yelling at me the main one
она ещё и по сторонам успевает смотреть 😁😄 Такая уверенная в себе, возможно будущая олимпийская чемпионка 😎
Ref: "You're being passive"
Blue: "Yeah...I am ahead. You want one more head & arm? Fine, I'll do one more"
Head and arms are the only things I know how to do
Blue showed the traits that red needs to adopt. She was calm and focused.
Shoutout to the ref. He had to deal with both coaches and was level and correct both times. I was never a freestyles or Greco-Roman guy, but was there a headlock slip? And what's the rule for that?
The rule is, is that if you slip out of it and then go straight down to your stomach, you can immediately be released backed up to your feet. But at the same time, it very state to state so for this instant, I had no idea that there was a thing called a head slip when I did throw
I used to wrestle, poorly in school. I was surprised with the strength and technique both had
I was cheering for blue all the time!
It's so obvious from the start blue has complete control of herself and the match. She operated that like a surgeon.
Edit: at 6:45 the look on her face is like, is the ref gonna call this already? can y'all see this? I've won. Make it official already.
I like her style because it reminds me of mine when I wrestled. I did not shoot for the legs as much, I'm tall so there was a lot of distance to cover if I wanted to catch their feet. I preferred head and arm the most. The takedown and pin at the end is chef's kiss.
If I was a sports article writer I'd put that shot at 6:51 right on the front page. No question. She's like "you seein this? you seein this? tell me I won already."
Impressive neck strength from the girl in red when she kept doing bridges in the match to avoid getting pinned 💪
Great athletes to both of them
This is both painful and inspiring! Painful because I know how stressful and tough wrestling is...Inspring because young women can now compete in a sport which was exclusively male dominated..
WOMEN POWER!!!! Thanks for sharing! I now have a new pastime!!!!
"women power"
lol, lmao. as if...
Cool singlets that look like denim bib overalls
I gave this video a thumbs up because it was mildly interesting to watch despite some mildly unpleasant memories it evoked in me of my own time in high school.....In a time and place, by the way, that would NEVER have allowed girls to wrestle like this. (However it would be interesting to find out how many young girls back then WOULD actually HAVE BEEN interested in such a sport if it WAS offered to them)
Be curious what that referee's "little dance" at 1:50 was all about...That struck me as a little weird.😐
A weird referee, for sure.
Lol he was explaining to the coach about a why points were given or not😂 but it does look weird 😂😂
Impressive...seemed like high energy with intimidation but resolve and perseverance won out...this time.
What a strong and determined look Maya has at the end of the fight, a real fighter!
да, взгляд уверенный, она круче меня однозначно 😅
movie quality too. Like Dr. Smolder Bravestone
Greco - Roman wrestling by these young ladies was interesting , it's the Frist I've seen this regulation competition in of middle school girl's . I think it's great for their mental and physical development.
Just to clarify, as indicated in the video title, this is Freestyle, which has significantly different rules from Greco-Roman.
@@MidwestWrestle thank you for pointing that out to me. I'll pay better attention in the future.
She just did 3 back flips for no apparent reason... ha ha
