He did the full heroic death at least though. The entirety of Episode 16 is quite possibly one of the best singular episodes I've ever seen in any series at all.

I'd imagine tanks and drones with their substantially larger size could house a higher capacity power source and use the Destroy Decomposer mode far more extensively and therefore be more destructive and powerful.
