2009 में राजशेखर रेड्डी के निधन के बाद कांग्रेस के संबंध वाईएसआर परिवार से बेहद खराब हुए. कांग्रेस बार-हार हारी लेकिन वाईएसआर परिवार से संबंध नहीं सुधरे. वाईएसआर के बेटे जगन मोहन रेड्डी ने कांग्रेस से बगावत करके इतने मजबूत हुए कि एक दिन सत्ता पर काबिज हो गए. करीब 15 साल बाद आंध्र प्रदेश में कांग्रेस ने एक काम तो बढ़िया किया. वाईएसआर की बेटी शर्मिला रेड्डी को अपना लिया. 15 साल में पहली बार आंध्र प्रदेश में कांग्रेस फाइट में दिख रही है. क्रेडिट जा रहा है आंध्र प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष शर्मिला रेड्डी को जिन्होंने अकेले जगन मोहन रेड्डी और चंद्रबाबू नायडू से टक्कर ली हुई है.
