And man desires power. He has conquered the air, nature; he wants power politically; he wants power spiritually; he wants power in his relationship. And everybody is seeking power, which gives him a certain status. And in meditation you do, the mind does acquire certain powers, but they are to be totally avoided because then mind or thought becomes a slave in the pursuit of those powers which give ultimately pleasure: powers of thought-reading, producing miracles and so on.
God is The One who dreams us into existence, including our every thought & our idea that we even exist. Our will is one with God's will. I sense God is ultimately & thoroughly good. God doesn't let anyone suffer any more than is necessary. All suffering is ultimately beneficial & to a good end. The beauty of the preciousness of life is impossible without the potential of pain. God is reality, & to understand reality is to know God & to know your Self. God is meaning, & life, & we are That.
God, men, myself, tis all the same, just different points of perspective. Love speaking to Love. I guess I'm just a bird singing, really, and listening through other ears of my infinite self.
Jehovah (God) As creator of all in my religeon for my part. Cannot be depicted in Human words, because the wall of string theory prevents you. Such a majestic word, imagine a line that never ends.
Oh yes, so true... and yet we know that oneness has nothing to do with being the same... we just need to honor each other's uniqueness. Thanks for viewing and dropping a comment
...unless of course he changes his ways and changes his habits....of acting, thinking and talking in more positive ways. Yes you are right...we do create our realities. :)
God is experience, and this experience is non describable, because it's before thoughts and words, before imagination, before mind,so the moment i give you a word (to describe what God is) you will start thinking, projecting thoughts, images, your mind will start working and truth will be missed. Just live in present moment and enjoy own presence...only this can be told.
First Verse in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Sikh Scriptures, Sikh concept of Divine Supreme Being (God) has been describes and further elaborated in Subsequent versus.
in addition to not following any school of yoga, i also don't eat yogurt, and i don't even drink jager... but i have had spontaneous kundalini/holy spirit kriyas or whatever... and i've occasionally done a pose where i balance standing on one leg and stretch my arms together out in front of me, and stretch one leg out behind me (don't know if this is really a known yoga pose)
God is described in first verse of Sikh Sriptures - Sri Guru Granth Sahib, as "Ek Oankar" One Infinite Divine Supreme Being; "SATNAM" - True Self or Reality; "Karta Purukh" The Creater and does all that is there in the Universe; "Nirbhau" - Without any fear, ill feelings or hatred; "Nirvair"- Without animosity or ill will to any one; "Akal Moorat" - Beyond the scope or time or For ever; "Ajooni" - Beyond the cycle of birth and death; "Sai Bhang" - Self Created;
the CREATOR IS NOTHING YET EVERYTHING. this is the only absolute that none can disprove. even with everything in our known perception of existence we find space. even of the smallest thing down to the measures of infinity.as to the greatest distance is of the of the smallest space;infinity. science, religion, mathematics, and philosophy, all come to the same truth. we came from nothing and that is where everything will end.that is why the creator IS.for that is why nothing is ALL. blessing
i've come across that book title many times, maybe the universe wants me to read it... thanks for the tip!... i have only about 3 main questions left about the nature of existence, maybe mr yogananda has got some answers
A very profound question; and interesting answers by some spiritual personalities. Pl. also read all comments posted below. Words are just inadequate to describe god. we can perhaps get only miniscule understanding of god concept through words. we may conceive god as being the supreme force/reality, the one-without-a-second, all pervasive and omniscient. It exists without destruction at all times. It cannot be perceived by our intellect or mind. Swamy Vivekananda once described God's form as a very big circle, the centre of which is nowhere. What is important is we believe in the existence of god and seek it's grace all the time for our well-being and attainment of Moksha.
Because our ego self has created a false reality in our minds based on the belief that some higher being needs to be pleased. Ask yourself this ....what if God was trying to please YOU instead, His Children with all these wonderful things/beings in life? All these things created on your behalf so that you could enjoy? The very things some of us have been trying to deny and/or destroy instead of understanding?
How do we know god is good? The world is pretty twisted and backwards for the most part. I want his energy to come around me his positive energy and strength to hit me if he has it in him to do so. How do I find him>!!!!!!!!
...what the Buddhists call reincarnation. And the choices you made make up the person you are today..... People ask the question 'What is luck or fate?'. That I can answer. Luck or fate, is simply the accumulation of karma of the decisions you have made throughout your life/lives. Depending on their outcome and whether they were beneficial or not to those affected by that decision, that comes to form one's luck/fate.
the reason we think there is God is because someone has put the idea in our heads, religious people think of God as a physical being but, nothing is physical it's all our imagination, like the scientists say "there is no matter" everything we perceive is an illusion. i could go on and on!
@PeaceProfit Listen ! I understand some of what you said ! but I was just having some fun, maybe it said the wrong way ! I just find the statement funny ! "Describe God" Were you quoting from Scripture, the Torah or Old testament ?
It indeed is life; It shines forth variously in all beings. The wise man who knows it does not babble. Revelling in the Self, delighting in the Self, performing actions, he is the foremost among the knowers of Brahman(God). As the spider sends forth and draws in its thread, as plants grow on the earth, as hair grows on the body so does everything in the universe arise from the Imperishable draws and Withdraws in it's body.
As I say when you know longer strive you know it all.Yet while you strive you are it all yet you do not know it,that is the point. So know that then forget it and you effect it all.Yes it all I say.I am the Ruler dont forget.Do not be mad at that because it may not be your ruler but my own.My own is what is known and to you can not readily be shown.
in surah al-ikhlas "Allah,He is one,Allah is He whom all depend,He begets not, nor is He begotten, and none is like Him"read Quran and you will find more answers...
ooh okay. that's Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee. he follows the Naqshbandiyya-Mujaddidiyya Sufi path. he is a sufi mystic, lecturer and author of several books i believe. never read any of them personally though
I am always amused by this type of question. Which French philosopher was it who said 'man made god in his own image'? Of course this has to be true - has it not? Who invented the word 'god'? Man did by reversing the word 'dog'. Both words are man's invention. Spelled one way it is his word for a quadroped shit machine and the other way for the thing he can't know or describe but is the something or other he knows is there. How does he know that? He doesn't know... he kinda hopes...
@dharma099 perhaps you assume that i*have religious beliefs or follow some type of faith, if so you are mistaken and as i*have already described god, i*will answer your questions "Where & Who is God?" as it seems you were unable to decern this from the truth of my description. You/We/Everthing is the Truth of all being, hence it is everywhere. Perhaps that is clear & simple enough 4U to comprehend that you are only making fun of and teasing your*self & the only affect it has on me is pity 4U
@PeaceProfit Come On ! I was just trying to joke about it ! the " I am" thing is even stated in many parts of the Hindu Scriptures ! exactly as you stated - " I am that I am, etc. etc.
@PeaceProfit However what you stated does correspond correctly with The Eastern Religions ! So Should tell us the All scriptures are essentially the Same ! However, I have a problem with the methods the christians enact - that is deviation from the True teachings.
My friend xGLAVONJAx.... ..that was the point I was trying to make. Ask yourself the question 'Why did this baby lose the life the moment it was almost born?'. According to Buddhist beliefs, (brutal as it may sound), it is the baby's past karma that led it to die in such horror. Had it been born hours earlier, perhaps it would have avoided such tragedy. As it stands God is not cruel...but man. It has been man who has been cruel to others, the world, and cruel to himself - all due to ignorance.
Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is the Garden of Eden, which is our home or Earth. As everybody should know, to make a great garden takes much love, time and effort in order to create and/or cultivate it.
God is alien Wizard with a big white beard and lived for billions trillions of years that why he has white hairs he is God of War a alien in the universe pure fighting machine with unimaginable powers and all wise more smarter than trillions of people he is so smart n educated that it can read all the books in the world in 1 day he knows were all the security camras are in the whole world thats why we can't even see him on camara or his angels thats how smart he is the angels n god are trillions of times more smarter than all of us put together
Lol what's really funny is that you misunderstand what the person means by " God can't be described". The implication is that God can't be labeled with any positive description if he is transcendent of the physical universe because our understandings are within the space-time universe. Most descriptions of God are in the negative, such as God is infinite, space-less, timeless, immaterial, and so on. We think we understand these negative descriptions but we really don't.
its funny to see how people dont understand that everything u experience is from a "focal point". if u try to understand through that focal point what GOD is. then u would be close by saying the universe is GOD!!!!! which is the infinite! and that is not giving it limitations! and if u dont know what a focal point is then go find out people cause its how u see the world
@jamil6363 still does NOT tell us who God really is ? this only gives attributes of God ! problem with islam is that you have to accept everything the Iman Ramms down your neck ?
xGLAVONJAx... The question you are asking is the same question Buddha asked many centuries ago...the very same one which led him to his search. In order to understand why do people have such tragic fates, one has to look at things from a karmic perspective. Buddhism teaches that all life is the result of karma - and even YOU are karma. You as the person you are today, is the result of many thousands or possibly millions of years of spiritual evolution - from mineral/plant to animal/human.
Btiful scenery culture without doubt. However, Transcdl meditationopens one up to random spiritual powers danger of mental instability and compulsive disorders, general darkness of mind and spirit. Bible warns satan can appear as angel of light, spiritual experiences , indeed they must be tested against the word of God which is true.No matter how well meaning our perceptions cannot be trusted wholly to guide us throug life, only the Bibleleading of the Holy Spirit submitted to Christ.
@PeaceProfit We know God is the Creator ! that is nothing new ! We know he is the Truth ! But Judo-Chrisitianity has NO monopoly on God or his creations as they like to arrogantly portray !
There is no God. Problem solved. If God is an entity then God would have to be created and God's creator would have to be created on so on. The universe just is, and that is the answer everyone seeks. Energy is infinite and has always existed because you cannot create something out of nothingness.

What a start ? The resounding laughter. The fabulous Sadhguru. What more can you ask?
God is incomprehensible to us. Believers and non-believers are equal because we can't begin to understand what we are trying to describe.
I think God cannot be described but you can become one. Start looking for him inside you, through your body, feelings and thoughts. God bless!!!
God is the man! He is Love, Good, Positive, Omnipotent, and will be whoever you want him to be at the time.
The answer given by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is the most sensible and simple one
Thanks for sharing your view, Bryan.

ufff!! People complicate god so much so that u will need someone to show the god in u..
you are god...everything is created in the mind.
This is good stuff man........god is beyond names, cultures, meaning
he who supreme is capable of doing everything is god .

When you have no beliefs of what god is, if you are free from the mind, then you will know god. Only your mind keeps you away from the spirit.
i do read bible . i hope you read the do not judge as you will be judged in same manner verse
it sounds pretty legit, from what i just read of it

most sufferings are created in the name of god
