    Cotonell flushable wipes are the only ones that actually break down like toilet paper

  • @got2strpk
    @got2strpk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I was a maintenance guy and we had a tenant who used "flushable" wipes I would snake the lines and show her all the wipes I pulled out and tell her please don't flush anymore. She would back up again and on and on it went. After the third snake I told her the next time I pulled wipes from her drain I would have the manager add a charge to her rent for it. Of course she backed up again and I told her It wasn't going to be free this time and she said hold on one second, she comes back out with a triumphant look on her face and says look here pointing to the flushable words on the pack. I told her flushable wipes still clog drains the same as regular wipes and she told me straight up that I had no idea what I was talking about. I left on bad terms and of course she clogged again. Having had enough of her excuses I Googled the number of a plumbing company and asked them on speakerphone to explain if flushable wipes are safe to use and the guy played ball extremely well explaining that wipes and tampons cause about 90% of the clogs they clear. Her face was red but eventually after charging her 3 times she must have stopped because we didn't get called for it again and I would regularly check to make sure she wasn't backing up.

    Been renting a home for about 3 years now that has a septic system up here in Alaska. It’s crazy how people think wipes are safe for septic systems. Why anyone would put anything other than fecal matter and toilet paper In a septic is beyond me. Even city water refining plants have gigantic rake like mechanisms that scoop out wipes, tampons, etc because it’s NOT MEANT to be flushed. Period. No pun intended. Keep up the good work! Why aren't they forced to remove false advertising We can call people stupid for flushing them but THEY DON'T KNOW. They're trusting that itif the company claims it it must be true. Because obviously if it was false advertising then the company would be FORCED to take it down and punished for it. And they haven't been so they MUST be ok.

    Have to have quite a bit of wastewater in the septic tank to break down the new reformulated Cottenelle wipes. The old stuff broke down a little bit, if at all. Low water 1.6 - 1.28 gpf terlits don't bide well for any plumbing. Waste stacks up in the pipes, especially if they arent on proper slope or grade. Now combine that with garbage disposal waste not using enough water!

    I am a plumber and the wipes that say flushable wipes are not flushable at all as you seen it took some strength to rip that wipe. Now from my experience the “flushable” wipes are the same thing as a regular wipe that doesn’t say flushable. I been inside house and had to run a snake down the sewer line just to clear it because the wipes end up getting stuck inside the sewer. DO NOT FLUSH ANY TYPE OF WIPE NO MATTER WHAT IT SAYS.

    Toilet paper is specifically engineered to break down quickly in water. The wipes are not. If they broke down in water you’d just get a package of mush cause they’re already wet when you get them. They claim that they are “safe for well maintained sewer and septic systems” but most people don’t maintain their septic systems very well. They usually don’t think about it until it starts backing up, but even then they don’t break down like TP and they easily get caught up in your pipes and systems. If you like the feeling of cleanliness then get a bidet, and if you absolutely insist on using them, then get a small sealing trash can and put it next to your toilet so you can throw them out instead of flushing them.

    Going by the wipe manufacturer marketing logic, I have flushable golf balls.
    Looks like anything that fits through the pipe is flushable. Balled up plastic shopping bags are not only recyclable, but, you guessed it: flushable.
    If you see a made up word that ends in "...able", you KNOW that some soulless monster with a mail order degree in marketing and medieval English literature was at work.
    And every time you hear a wipe being flushed, someone else us getting a bonus.

    00:47 _MMMMmmmmmm! Smells like...Water!_ 💧🤣
    I've been using legitimately flushable/septic-safe wet-wipes for years. No, I'm not using some over-marketed commercial product...I'm simply taking a few sheets of normal TP, folding it into four layers, then wetting it under the tap. Cleans just as well as any commercial wet-wipe, but *can* be safely flushed (It'll still break up like normal) _and_ is considerably cheaper, too! 👍
    Otherwise: If you *have* to use commercial wet-wipes, use a trash-can for them too. Even if it's just a rinsed-out milk bottle that's kept by the toilet (So the lid contains any odour) it's still better than putting them down the loo...And will save you a 💩-load of money on septic pump-outs, too! 👍
