- This is how I paint a realistic ginger cat using soft pastels, pastel sponges and pastel pencils on Pastelmat Board. I’ve decided to remove the music from this video as many of you were requesting an asmr type of video. This asmr is all unintentional.
This lovely boy is called Nikko. This was a commission for one of my clients in USA 🇺🇸. The size of the portrait is 30x40cm and it was done using the pastel technique on Pastelmat Board (Clairefontaine). This portrait was recorded throughout several weeks, these are just short snippets of the whole process. I hope you enjoy watching me paint as much as I enjoyed creating this Artwork.
A little bit about Nikko from my client's words: "Nikko chose me as his owner and I loved him more than anything. He was a medium sized cat, he was a pale oranger cat ginger to be more precise. He had blond mixed with orange stripes. His eyes were yellow or green depending the lighting. He loved flowers especially red ones the color red attracted him a lot, so I tried to have red roses in the house for him. His tail was completely striped like a tiger. He was very intelligent, it’s like if he was a child. He understood everything you told him and would respond to you with his little meows. Nikko knew how much he was loved my myself and my mother, he was definitely spoiled. He was very playful, his eyes would turn completely black and we knew trouble was coming lol. He was my little protector, it’s like he knew when I was sick, or sad and was always there to comfort me"
(For those asking why I have the same clothes throughout the video, I use painting clothes, just like some people wear a uniform for work, I have my uniform for painting. It usually consists on an apron, black clothes and/or jeans.)
