Hi everyone! Today I have an unboxing and first impressions of the new Ariana Grande fragrance, R.E.M. This is not a full review but if you want to know my thoughts after a few days just let me a comment and I'll update you once I've had a chance to test it more. I'm also doing an unboxing and comparison of Cloud to Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Baccarat Rouge 540 (because the other 32,578 comparisons aren't enough- LOL)! Have you tried this new R.E.M. fragrance or any others from Ariana Grande? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Have you tried R.E.M. (or Cloud)? What are your thoughts? I think these are both nice fragrances, but neither are favorites for me. Are there any others from Ariana Grande that you'd recommend? Thanks!

I think there are a million reviews of Ariana perfumes already. I love your channel for niche brand or private line reviews! You should continue to buy fragrances that YOU love, to tell us about them, instead of what's mass appealing and what is easily found at Ulta where we can go smell them ourselves. :)

Enjoyed this first impressions video! Most of the videos I found when looking at these two from Ariana Grande were from super young TH-camrs that my 48-year-old self just can’t relate to 🤣. But that said, I still love wearing Cloud and REM, and I like Thank You, Next as well. 🤷🏻♀️ They’re really too young for me, but I just love the lavender dryer sheet and marshmallow vibe of Cloud, and REM is a great for layering in the summer. And sometimes I really enjoy smelling like coconut and pickles, so that’s where Thank You, Next comes in.... Yeah, anyway, I’d love to see a more in depth video on these guys from you, but I also totally get that you’re not vibing with either of these. I have BR540, and I think you hit the nail on the head with your comparison and assessment.

I hate BR540 and love cloud. I have so many expensive fragrances but i really enjoy ariana grande fragrances because i adore really sweet scents.

Cloud it's a very beautiful perfume. If you dont want to spent a lot of money to buy a perfume is super ok. In my opinion Nicho perfume is overrated.

She absolutely knows what she’s talking about! Everyone keeps saying they smell the same, just to justify purchasing cloud. I have BR 540! I looovvveee it! I’m going to get a cloud decant, I can’t stand the packaging of it.
At first when I bought Cloud last year, I was so surprised that I loved it. Now I’ve tried Thank U Next in store and really did like that too... haven’t picked it up though. I’ve heard that REM is along the same lines of the two before so I’ll have to see when it finally gets to Canada...

If you own Cloud you definitely don't need REM. Tried it in store today and found it to be a really potent mature scent with the Cloud dna

I have a decant of BR540, got Cloud on FragranceNet on a good deal few months back. BR540 is definitely beast mode and unisex. Cloud is a decent replacement if one can't afford the price tag of BR540 and doesn't mind it being sweeter and girlier. I don't feel like I have to be careful when spraying cloud like I do with BR. Cloud's longevity is good on me - 8ish hours.
Nice! Yeah, I agree that Cloud is more feminine due to the fruitiness and sweetness. BR540 is a beast. I do love it, though!
I’ve been waiting for a review on this. Her perfumes always tend to be sweet, so I don’t own any, but I have been curious since Cloud came out.
Yeah, everyone loves Cloud so much that I was curious about this one and the notes seemed promising (plus the bottle is cool looking). I can't do the overly sugary sweet fragrances, either.
all of her perfumes are sweet but her least sweet i guess is her limited edition perfume FRANKIE u can find it on amazon. even tho her perfumes are amazin

Lol.. yeah you should never spray then instantly throw your face in it. I love this scent. It's a masculine marshmellow/gun powder heavenly blend.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the band! 😄 As for BR540, it's such a ubiquitous and potent scent that whenever I smell it, I'm usually huddled in the corner. In the spotlight. Losing my religion. 😛 😁 Shoutout to the fortress of solitude. Love the comparison at the end too. Quickly becoming one of my favourite channels Tara. 🌹

Hey! Thank you so much! I have built in shelving in my closet that I use. There's no light in there (unless I turn on the light) and it stays cool, but I still get to enjoy seeing them when I go in.
Very timely video! Hah, I still have an inner teenager who loves sparkly (fake) stuff 😍 so I’ve been planning to sample this. Ariana Grande perfumes are always perfectly packaged for the target audience IMO and the scents are very on trend for them too. I honestly do enjoy her ‘Ari’ scent as an easy sweet nondescript scent for certain days and bought Cloud mostly to see what the fuss was about 🙂. I’m just as anosmic to it as to BR 540 🤷🏻♀️ so I probably detect 50% of what’s there. I’ll definitely check back in a few days to see what you thought after more wearings. 🙏🏽💟☮️☯️⚛️

Olfactofiles Great! I forgot to add that I also bought a travel spray of Thank U Next, but I need to give it away because I’ll never wear it. Very synthetic pina colada, but too sharp and vapid. 🙊 Could be fun on a beach vacation but I prefer others for that vibe.
I saw something about REM recently but didn’t read up on it; it’s a little too young for me based on your review (and that bottle) but I do like Cloud very much. I like sweet perfumes so that one works well. Thanks for the reviews!

Wow this is a really helpful and timely review! I'm surprised you didn't smell lavender in REM, whenever lavender is a note I find that it dominates so much!
Yeah, I normally do, too. It says lavender blossom instead of lavender, though, so I wonder if that's a different type of scent???
i would get that for the packaging!!! i am all for cutie stuffs.. hahaha.. :D i'll be careful to smell it due to the alcohol.. dont wanna burn my nosehairs XD yes, cloud is very coconuty and creamy.. similar ish vibe.. but not a dupe.. i love the drydown of cloud.. :)
Yeah, I definitely prefer cloud between these two. I don't dislike REM, but it becomes kind of a standard Designer smelling scent after a while.

Paola Bianka 😂 I don’t have any of AG fragrances, but... I tried the coffee bean scrub that came with a set years ago. I bought it for my daughter ... I liked it, but nothing I just had to have. I didn’t really feel the “Cloud” when I smelled it yesterday.

I’ve tried so many celebrity perfumes in the past to save $$$ but they usually smell cheap but I really love Cloud. The notes on R.E.M seem similar to Womanity by Mugler but still scared to buy blind.
Yeah, I agree. Jessica Simpson Fancy is the only one I really like a lot. This doesn't smell anything like Womanity, though I did notice some overlap in notes as well.

I literally laughed 🤭 out VERY loud when you saw the bottle. This was such an awesome review. I am one that is Anosmic to BR 540... I can smell it, but not much. Others smell it more on me than I can smell on myself. Again... this was sooooo enjoyable to watch.
LOL! Glad it made you laugh! :) So many people seem to be anosmic to BR540. There must be a specific ingredient that is in it that does that. So strange. I'm glad I can smell it. I really like it!
I tried Sweet Like Candy- no one could smell it after an hour. I was so disappointed- it’s one of the few I’ve returned.
I like a few Britney Spears perfumes and two of Jennifer Aniston’s, but I certainly don’t have your nose! 😉

I live in Ontario, Canada and I called my local Shoppers Drug Mart about it today. The cosmetician said they had all the stickers and the stand for it in the back. They were just waiting for the truck to come and bring the perfume into the store. But that's all she could really say about it. So I'm expecting it to most likely be in store for purchase before this month is over. Fingers Crossed!

I have a question, would you say that cloud is unisex?
Yeah, I think so. Honestly, I think people should wear whatever they like, but BR540 is unisex and Cloud does have a similar vibe. It's a bit sweeter which tends to be associated with feminine fragrances, but I know some men who wear it and enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
That Cloud is extremely br540-ish to my nose. The sillage and projection is maybe equally a beast! Smelt it on a girl about 3 train cars away. Nonetheless I wouldn't wear it again ..too fruity 😪

Both cloud and BR540 Give me a note that’s “sweet” but like sweet n sour- almost a bit sour almost like sour candy tastes in the dry down. I get that in both of them. Anyone else?!? Lol. But def cloud has a string coconut BR doesn’t

I have nothing against celebrity scents, but R.E.M. doesn't interest me in the least. My son bought me a travel size Cloud the Christmas before last and I don't dislike it...but I never wear it. I've never gotten my nose on MFK BR540 so I can't compare. I know Christian Siriano has a new fragrance release that is also supposedly a dupe, as well.
Oh yeah, I saw a couple people talk about that one. I don't really need it, but it seems like it would be a good, affordable option. I'm always willing to try just about anything when it comes to perfume, but there haven't been many celebrity releases that I've enjoyed. Thanks, Celeste!

Dose rem is too sweet? I mean is like the same sweetness as cloud btw cloud stay for 7hrs and even later
I think it's less sweet than Cloud and also didn't last as long as Cloud. Definitely one you should sample first. Seems people are mixed on it. A lot really like it but a lot don't.

Yeah I smelled Burberry Her & Her Intense but I don’t really get the BR540 vibes from them.. because I think it’s really more feminine & fruity rather than warm as BR540 but yeah one time I wore Cloud and a friend of mine said that it smells like her friend’s perfume wich is Burberry HER so there are definitely similarities ! but idk my nose just finds them really different...

Really u feel like u smell like a kid with BR540 ?? because people generally think it smells very mature wich i agree to ! and I prefer Cloud to Burberry HER but there is a note about it that I don’t really like and I don’t know what it is... and it doesn’t last very long on my skin.. 🙁

BR540 I love the smell but I can not smell it on me at all.... husband got it as a Christmas gift and I really wish I could smell it on me .... beautiful scent to . I have cloud as well and I do not think it smells like BR540 at all.... 🤷🏾♀️
Yeah, I don't think they smell that much a like after the initial opening, either. It seems a lot of people cannot smell BR540 on themselves. I'm curious what in it does that. I can smell it non-stop and even into the next day until I shower.

Yeah, I just saw it on Ulta the other day (not sure if it's in the UK yet) and the bottle caught my eye. Not horrible, but not great either. I will give it a chance, but I imagine this will be moving on to a new home soon.

if the plastic is scuffed - that's the point. it's a holder. her last three have used holders so that during shipping or whatever the glass stays nice and pretty
Yeah, at least the glass wasn't scratched. It sounds like most peoples' arrived without any scuffs, though, so that's good.

I was wondering if Ariana Grande chooses R.E.M. because of the rapid eye function when your deep sleep, or She was influenced by R.E.M. the pop-rock band that I grew up listening to their music which I think I doubt that She even know about the band, by the way, Ariana Grande is from 20 minutes away from my place, She is from Boca Raton, FL. I always wanted to compare BR540 with the Ariana Grande "Inspiration" offering but after you take I finally hear that it's not even close just reminiscents. Great video, Tara. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I realized I said it wrong. I don't really know anything about her and I have had several students who spell their names like she does but say it the way I said it, so I just went with that. :)
Perfumes are perfumes,is nothing special about it.And i have smell many celebrity perfumes that are creater than designers.In designers perfumes you pay for the "amazing bottle" not the actually juice

You’re also paying for the quality of ingredients, and in the case of many niche, not a run of the mill scent. If you’re going to compare apples and oranges, at least give full facts.

A lot of the money goes into marketing, too. I mostly go with niche now because although the packaging is often nice, the quality of ingredients is far superior and they are so much more unique than designer scents. Thanks for watching!
