  • www.crosstraini... tractionerag.com Time for some hard enduro training! A short but nasty little hill climb up a rocky rut. I last tried this on a RR480 a few years ago and had to push the bike through lots of sections, hopefully today we have the skills to ride the whole way. Poor old Jeff, he really nailed this the first time but I didn't film it. Now the camera is on he's struggling. Take it away Jeff for your hard enduro training. Whether he is sitting or standing, he keeps maximum weight on that rear wheel for this hill climb and extreme enduro training. Very awkward pivot turn here. You need to get the front wheel up on that rock first. It's a long way to fall if you mess it up. Jeff needs to weight then deweight the rear wheel quickly to bounce over the rut. Bummer. This time he really exaggerates the seat bounce for maximum weighting and deweighting. Next obstacle? He needs to get the rear wheel up a steep bit. The best strategy for hard enduro training? The static zap. The static zap is a great strategy in gnarly terrain. Get body to the rear for the hill climb. Throw it forward. Then drop the clutch. Timing is critical for extreme enduro training. You drop the clutch just when your body weight is almost completely forward. Then ensures great traction. And it also prevents your bike from back flipping. See our full training vid for more hard enduro training info. Nicely done. Now it gets even harder. There's almost no traction for the rear wheel on this steep bit. And it's very close to falling back down. You can see why you need to think everything through carefully in this extreme enduro training terrain. Just throwing yourself at it might occasionally work for the hill climbs. But more often it means smashed crankcases and possible injuries. Jeff lines up for the static zap again. If he gets enough momentum, he should get past both trouble spots in one go. Then it's my turn. I am very motivated to get through this quickly as the dreaded back ache will kick in if I take too long. I check under the bike to see if the rear wheel will get good traction. Static zap. Woohoo it worked! The guys were learning this while I spent nine months off the bike due to an injury, I have a lot of catching up to do. I was very happy with that run. Jeff's first run was very similar, just a pity I didn't film that one lol. Watch carefully, you can see Jeff quickly stands on the footpegs while releasing the clutch for this hill climb. Good traction for jumping up little ledges. And here he bounces on the seat for the same reason. Bugger. The rear wheel spins despite being weighted correctly. He goes back a bit further this time to maximise his runup. Amanda's partner, Glen. This is their first ride on brand new Husqvarnas so we thought we would show them some of the slightly gnarlier tracks. Wet clay makes this section tough after rain. We go over some tips such as seat bouncing, controlled drops of the clutch, and maximising run up. Some footage from another ride. I'm catching up with Neil who is another rider who has recently decided to get into some gnarlier tracks. It's funny how your confidence can be affected so much by the people you ride with. Over the past year I have been watching a pile of guys overtake me, due to a mix of not riding for nine months due to injury, and also the younger guys are just so much fitter and are willing to take bigger risks to develop their technique faster. So it's kind of encouraging to see riders new to the technical riding as it reminds me that I have come a long way, even though it doesn't feel like that lately. And now it's time for some dirt bike FM again! And catch you later.

      Yep, long legs make a big difference, if I was short I'd be cutting my seat down and possibly doing suspension mods for this sort of riding. Mind you, in a coming vid you'll see Ben doing this section and he's much shorter than us but does the whole section way better than us.... but then he's a gold class hard enduro rider.

    Funny thought for single track deep ruts: They normally come in pairs. Once a rut becomes so deep that it is un-ridable, people make another one. When the second one is deep also, and the track is ruined, one could do this: Put the front wheel into one and rear wheel across the other. The idea is that the rear wheel will stay on the top because it is crossing the rut. In the first gear the bike should start scrambling along asymmetrically at an angle. I can't wait to try it.

    This is an inhumane treatment of the bike😁. Important question to me is: Assume you have 2.5 meter-long hands and are walking behind the bike. Would it be easier for the bike or the weight actually helps? I mean, from the bike only point of view., ignoring how hard it for the human.

    • @crosstrainingenduro
      @crosstrainingenduro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The weight definitely helps, but only if you know when to 'deweight' as well. With the right air pressure, your body weight can double or even triple the contact patch for traction when you put extra weight on the pegs.
