BROO ......... POE has NEVER OVER DELIVERED IN PERFORMANCE it`s one of the worst optimised game I have ever played ... it`s worse than Wolcen and that speaks volumes !!! THE ONLY THING THEY DELIVERED IS CONTENT , HUGE AMOUNT OF CONTENT !!! if you play Diablo 4 in 300 fps and any other game from 2024 in 150+ fps in and Poe you are loosing FPS in your hideout ... not to mention a game that juiced map that`s pure DEATH !!! First Dislike from me since i've been folowing but this is deserved ... you want to hype POE do it by not lying!!
just a little PSA from a person who played poe 1 standard for over 10 years, this video comes from the perspective of someone who has not experienced and is completely unaware of the depths of suffering GGG has put the poe 1 playerbase through over the years. someone who has never had their entire build that he spent years polishing completely destroyed by GGG for no apparent reason. I am excited and hopeful that poe 2 will possibly not suck as bad as poe 1.
@TravisStockton yeah... he just said that they over-delivered in performance, and shit it's one of the most unoptimised game I've ever played... when in reality the only place where they over delivered is content... everything else about the game is mid at best... graphics shit, gameplay shit , feel of the game shit ... hopefully, poe2 will be better
that is exactly it! I dabble in both genres and GGG are up there with Larian, or FromSoft, in terms of credibility, track record, and passion for their games
Path of Exile is one of the only games I can think of where I've given them money not because I felt pressured to do so, but because I've gotten so much enjoyment from the game that rewarding them felt only natural.
Thanks! Please have a coffee on me. I first found you when you were unhappy with D4, and I thought you were mostly on the negative side. Since then, I have learned that you are very straightforward, and will praise when deserved - whether it is D4, PoE or something else. Very much looking forward to following into PoE2. Plus, I love Alaska ❤
Heads up, there are some toxic people in the community but just ignore them. That being said, there are tons of helpful and nice people as well. I guess that's how most communities work but POE can be very tribalist. Hope you have a great time with POE2 and see you in Wraeclast, Exile
One thing i am laughing my ass off right now are the number of level 100 players fully kitted with i dont know what hanging out in lioneye just so they can flex their dick to us noobs. #Hubris
The one thing i love the MOST about the devs for PoE is that when you see the patch notes and when you watch the reveals you can tell that they PLAY THEIR GAME. They make "common sense" updates because they are also playing this game and going "why did we do it like this" and then make changes. They seem genuinely honest about explaining why they do what they do.
two things that do seem lost in game development nowadays: a) transparency; b) playing your own game. GGG does both of those in spades. Confident PoE 2 will live up to the hype!
*a friend of mine reccomended me poe exactly 11 years ago now my lightning witch turns 11 years old today we played the game by our own pace and im gonna start poe 2 with the same pace and mindset*
@@luigipeachbowser118 Nope. But most people do. There is ofc the permanent league. And even more than that. Every character and all of the inventory and items from every season gets transfered to that permanent league, once the season is over. Over the years I hoarded quite a lot stuff there. Stuff that I never even look, much less sort through xD. But yes - you can indeed play your 11 year old character in the permanent league. There are also other modes of play - like hardcore. Where you only have one life. But your character is not deleted once you die. Instead - you guessed it - it is moved to that permanent league as well. So you can still play your HC character in that league if you want. Even after 11 years :)
Having just found your channel this year, you have quickly skyrocketed to one of my favorite creators for the ARPG scene. Your love for the genre is obvious, and I appreciate your honesty no matter what. I'm sorry it took me so long to subscribe. I look forward to more videos!
I wanna say that i'm tired of seeing "D4 bad" comments but if that game, the supposed pinnacle and shining example of the genre didn't fall as bad as it did and being outdone by a couple of inspired nerds from NZ, it wouldn't be memed this hard.
is d4 really that bad? I am just bouth it for a few weeks to have fun, and I still enjoy it (done the story quest etc) but it doesn't look that "bad" for me for a casual play through, or is it more about the longterm of it? (Still wanna play PoE2, been new to that community / game too)
Going in Blind for POE2. Played POE1 way back when it first came out, but I just couldn't get into it. It was my first experience with an ARPG in general. Nowadays though I been finding myself wanting a game like this. I hope it becomes a game I will gladly sink my teeth into.
yeah same for me. i have a lvl 23 hunter (recovered my old account from 2013) and back then, the Demonhunter from D3 was more fun for me. but now i´m absolutely stoked about PoE2
I couldn't get into POE1 but I'm super stoked about POE2. I'm going in blind. I'm just gonna do what I want and see how it goes for the early access. When it goes to full release I'll start a planned build once I've learned the game. Watching the game director talk and seeing how much passion he has for the game sold me on the game more than the actual gameplay, lol.
PoE is such a fantastic gem once you can get beyond the first (admittedly big) hurdle. I'm hoping you fall in love with PoE2, with what seems to be a much smaller hurdle :)
same exact situation and approach here. I think there is a lot of "us" based on talks I've had with some of my mates. I will only look stuff up if I can't solve it myself after trying
@@achgehzu2125 being dead all of the time won't sting if you enjoy fromsoft games. If the deaths are more of a balance between skill and build then it's a good thing. My friend is new to the genre and just got into diablo 4 and he mentioned yesterday that he can tell that it's all about your build.
I “tried” poe1 a long time ago, and followed the advice about following builds/guides. I leveled once and quit. Later, I Asked a friend if the game had a Necromancer class and he said no, “just like elementals,” so I didn’t try again until last week. I just tried the game last week, Witches can be summoners with necromancy, ignored any guides, and rolled a hardcore ssf witch. I died level 13 to the second puzzle at the lower prison because my brain couldnt understand alternating spikes 😅.. BUT I had a blast! SSF is an amazing concept for a mode. It doesn’t matter what the best items/spells are if YOU haven’t found them yet. If you haven’t played PoE, or barely did and got overwhelmed. Just hop on the game, play SSF by yourself and enjoy the discovery. Everything explains itself for the most part inside the game, but you will have to experiment and discover. Oh, and make sure you zoom in that passive tree. You only have 5 days until PoE 2 so there’s no need to try to study all those branches. Just go and make mistakes. It’s fun. The big problem with PoE1 in hindsight is researching PoE1 before trying it. It’s free.
POE is one of the best if not the best ARPG. Many years ago I struggled just like everyone … but stayed in there and have had years of the best gaming time I’ve had…never give up..I’m going to be running public maps for the rest of the week…all loot to the public as a grand finale ❤
thats the spirit! people get to hung up with " i have to do "this" or i play the game wrong!" type of deal, which is just wrong. its not a competitive game, so people should do whatever they want and in the speed they like. im also a proponent of just going in and making mistakes to figure stuff out, its fun and everything can be fixed later anyway. enjoy the ride!
Happy to hear it, and yea it's gonna be easier than ever in poe 2, now that you can respec with gold, just play at your own pace and have fun :) ssf ftw
I had another experience. I started playing PoE more than 10years ago and being a noob with a long job I lost interest quickly in not understanding anything about the game. Following a few guides for different kinds of build actually helped me understand WHY I had to take certain nodes or uniques, so that I could try new build by myself with less of a brick wall 'cause I didn't have time. The thing I like the most is that is a choice, if someone asks me about following guide I always answer with "it depends". Trade, SSF, hardcore, softcore, following builds, I always say to just try a method and if its not for you than try another. There are no wrong choices, only fun personal choices.
Always like that you keep the "hey I am a new Player - how do I have fun" point of view in mind. I had a friend telling me everything there was to know when I startet - without him I would have easily needed one year or longer to grasp a lot of concepts. Keep it up man.
I know this really isnt the place to say this but im so hyped to play as a WARRIOR! i was a Devastator main in Outriders and the Titan ascendancy looks just like it and my body couldn't be more ready.
Im a WoW Andry that tried out Last Epoch earlier this year and loved it. Going in semi-blind to PoE2, only watched the gameplay reveal itself to get a look at the flavour of each class and such. A Monk wielding the elements seems super fun and im HYPED for the weekend!
that in combo with the flickerstrike looked fun af :D ..... im planning on building a sorceress (lightning for the 2x shock stack) and go lightnming arrow so i can shock the entire screen, then cast on shock ball lightning with elemental discharge support (consumes the double shock on target and blows up in aoe blast)
Long-time PoE player here (since original Beta, at least 12 years). I find the level of attempted gatekeeping and toxicity in PoE disgusting, and I implore current PoE players to give it a rest when it comes to PoE 2. While I unfortunately realize this is an impossibility, I know I am but one of a large number of veteran PoE players who are beyond excited to welcome a fresh crop of Exiles (those who are new to ARPGs in general/new to PoE/less experienced PoE 1 players) to Wraeclast on Friday, Dec. 6. My hope is that for every gatekeeper/unwelcoming-Andy out there, there will be a greater number of people like me who are looking forward to receiving these new players with open arms and sharing the game we have enjoyed and adored for so long. Don't really want to post my screen name publicly, necessarily, but if you have any questions come the 6th, or just want someone to play with, DM me here. And if any other PoE vets want to join the welcome wagon, feel free to volunteer your services below, I guess? Until we're able to Log In, stay safe, Exiles. Edit(s): for clarity.
I love it, good message. I've been playing POE for the past 5 leagues and I'm absolutely blown away by the amount of toxicity im seeing from POE1 vets lately.
The amount of elitism and gatekeeping in the comments on many videos here on TH-cam is something I do not think I have ever seen in any other game. Some of the comments I've seen are just straight up bizarre. @@johnb528
I think a lot of people will have a bad awakening. Most poeple dont expect dark souls type of gameplay from an ARPG where most people want to blast. It will surprise me if the game has more than 200k players after a week or two.
First time I played POE was awesome. Made a minion build and had a blast with it. Then I hit a wall were I just wasn't strong enough. I was able to look back at my skill point distribution and realize at least some of the mistakes I made. Then I made a new character and tried again. Just playing the game was fun and in doing so I was able to create a better understanding of the game without looking at builds or third party web sights. Couple years later and I push for t10 maps on my league starter at the minimum. Sure I check build sights to see what others are doing but the funnest part for me is creating your own build, then watching it get crushed before you even reach maps, analyze why, and try again.
The best message everyone can get and actually follow is, do not try to connect this 6th. *SO I CAN GET IN MYSELF EARLIER* Thank you for your sacrifice.
The $30 barrier to entry is honestly horrible. I know people are going to hate that take, but for most gamers 30 is nothing, especially when it's the equivalent of in game premium currency. This is the EA for the sequel to a game with a hardcore fan base and launch is going to be ruined because servers will be blasted by people who will drop the game after two weeks. Imo, that 480 lifetime or supporter pack should be the only way to get in at least for the first 3 months.
New player here coming to PoE2, have not played first game.. but it looked so cool in the reveal video so have to try it out. Did buy supporter pack with some extra Points for the early access. ^^
Odds are you won't like the first game at all, which is honestly kinda cool, its interesting to see people coming over from other ARPG games or even people who are completely new to ARPG games, you won't be left out of anything by not playing the first game, both will co-exist as they are going to be vastly different from each other
New to the channel and PoE Ive tried it off and on for a while, but I'm running a lvl 27 Templar now in the new league and I'm really having fun! I've only played D3 outside of PoE and I'm hyped for PoE2. Also a Warframe vet, so I've got 1999 and PoE 2 back to back. Life is good!
My best advice for anyone just starting PoE is to take your time and enjoy your journey. There are a lot of systems and mechanics to learn, but, if you take them one at a time and don't rush through things, you'll digest all the new information much more easily. See you all on the 6th, my fellow Exiles!
@@josipmarasovic2436 some people love PoE while don't even playing the game because they theoricraft builds with advanced calculus and they love maths. In some ways, Path Of Exile can be mathematically really advanced even if the code itself for each little piece of mecanics is not.
Just play the game and have fun with it. Super fans put a game on such a pedestal that it scares away new players. Only thing that sucked about POE1 was the sockets and skill system it wasn't hard it just took forever and was inconvenient always for no reason. They fixed that
My first Arpg was D3 and had a good time. D4 was too simple and I didn’t stick around. Tried POE a couple times but it seemed like too much to learn. Everything I’ve seen about poe2 looks amazing. I haven’t been this excited for a game for a long time
my brithday is thursday, my daughters is saturday. i will only get a few hours to play over release weekend. which is fine. the servers wont work anyways the first few days or the Q will be hours long.
First of all, the path of exile community is one of the best. I play the game since 2012 and all longtime poe playe are always rdy to help new players. Except trade...there are many scammers. Always check again what you trade or learn the lesson. I learned the lessons the hard way :)
Above all else, GGG's transparency and willingness to listen to feedback (and do something with it) is what sets them apart from all others in the industry. Making a sequel encompassing all of that feedback and also making it more accessible to a broader audience is what makes me so hype for this game.
@@metallicafan416Yeah I’m sure he’s aware it’s more like when you enjoy a specific type of game generally your view is (not in a negative sense) a frog inside a well looking at the sky, so with the industry of ARPGs they are the outlier, but yes you are 100% correct, Hello Games, FromSoftware, Larian Studios, there’s a few others as well.
One thing that should be mentioned in the video is that they DO make mistakes, it’s just that the response to those mistakes is communication to correction, observation and then execution. No dev is perfect in developing games but a dev can be damn near perfect when they improve their developed game.
I don’t even play videogames (anymore), but I do enjoy watching content about games, as it’s a big part of culture nowadays. Watching Jonathan speak warms my heart, I find him extremely likeable and I’m glad there are guys like him in this industry. He seems like the kind of guy you’d love to grab a beer with.
People have been playing games long before there have been content creators. Ironically, you will get much more out of the game the more blind you go in, this is how we fell in love with gaming in the first place. Just go in, make mistakes, learn from them and experience and enjoy the game for what it is. Most content creators try to finish the game before it has been released.
I have been playing Path of Exile for 10 years, and in that time, Grinding Gear Games has consistently exceeded my expectations. They have earned my respect as a gaming company by truly listening to their players and consistently delivering exceptional content. The excitement surrounding their work is well-deserved!
Im very new to the community and the ARPG genre having just built my very first pc and coming from console, i have only played D4 from release to end of season 1. Just started POE2 and loving it, especially having gone in blind its a great experience and the game does do well in explaining things.
As someone who likes arpgs (never really been great at them) been doing my first playthrough of poe 1 and I'm having fun, although still confused on some mechanics, the guide ive been following has made it more approachable, and I'm hoping to finish the campaign before Friday so i can hop into poe2
@tobiasstockner8885 well for me personally I like bow and arrow and after watching a couple videos about the build it looked fun plus the other build i wanted to try cuz I heard a lot about it was righteous fire but I couldn't find an easy to comprehend guide for it
@@tobiasstockner8885 It's easy to gear for, has range, and has a good power level bump at regular stages. It replaced Arc Witch a few years ago when Arc got nerfed and Lighting Arrow got buffed. Good luck finishing the campaign @SylverYokai !
First ARPG experience & i absolutely love it. Been playing blind, it’s probably not “efficient” but dam if it isn’t fun stumbling over my own mistakes, I am still completely overwhelmed with the sheer depth of items mods and currencies but that’s part of the fun for me. Super satisfying all around
Hey DM, that was a really good video, poe veteran here and yes the first time you play POE 1 can be a pain. Keep up with the good content, hope POE2 brings you ton of new subs
Brand new player to POE and the genre in general only played diablo 3 for like 40 hours, looks amazing and can’t wait to learn and enjoy a game like this that has real end game content. Everything well said to.
I'm going in mostly blind for at least two weeks. If I'm stuck I just reroll a different character. And I have a vague archetype idea of my build, nothing specific. I'll plan it proper when the tree comes out.
I have thousands of hours in poe1, and i cannoy wait for poe2 to drop so i can do the exact same thing as you! Im so hype to just try things again and see whats fun, find my favorite skills and interactions and make a build around them. The hype is unreal haha
Good on you man. I especially liked the fact you implored current fans to welcome the new guys. POE 1 chat can be anything from wholesome, to time wasting, to trolling, back to wholesome, AND helpful - i've met some awesome genreous friendly people simply through trade or asking questions. I think the more of us that take newbies under our collective hairy wings, there's potential here to be one of the 'badassed' communies. we';re here to blow up the screen - let's help people want to join the carnival
Big D3 player, didn't play D4 after completing campaign once. Tried PoE, but never really got into it as it seemed so complex for new players and didn't have the energy to learn all the mechanics. Super hyped for PoE2, definitely will be one of my most played games.
I would give PoE2 a decent chance, but if I don’t „get it“ quickly, then just not gonna play it. My steam library is full of games I only played once 🙄
@@Mark-sd4hv PoE2 seems to teach the mechanics much better, as well as some of them being simplified (skill gems etc). It also helps that the community is also learning stuff at the same time so I don't feel like i'm years behind :D
@@kujalanville the thing is you probably made the same "mistake" that I made and thats being afraid of making mistakes. Like I was overwhelmed because I thought "well how'd I know whats the best skill combo, the best way to farm gear etc etc". When you simply play the game and dont stress yourself, you will progress and learn. And in the end thats way more fun than having a guide and build for every possible situation.
You're a champ. I picked up on your channel as soon as you shifted from di. Super happy to see the real effect your honest channel has had on you, your place looks like a great upgrade. Just make sure to stay true to you
New player here. I loved D3 and D4 but not a hardcore player. I have tried POE but was very overwhelmed and never stuck with it. Im excited for POE 2 to get on the ground floor of the game and learn with everyone else.
Defenitely. I started with PoE way back in 2013, where there was only 3 acts and far less mechanics in there. It was quite bare bones. So I got to slowly learn it over the years. Trying to learn all of this at once - I can't even immagine. For a new player it's mindbogling. That said PoE 2 will be much bigger, even in this early access than PoE 1 was at launch. The ammount of content is quite impressive. So it's going to be still a lot of info. And a lot of it will be completely new and different to even someone like me. So I intend to go slow with this one. Enjoy story and learn the game. Try every class .... that's my plan.
One thing few people tell you about PoE is that notables are usually the conceptual starting point traveling down the Passive Tree and the small nodes are pretty negligible in terms of building a character. In PoE2, decoupling Life Gain from Tree progression has made small nodes even more of a footnote and allows more flexible Notable choices (less point stretched to HP nodes). I feel like it's easy to get stuck on the many in-between nodes. This Stokes "Wow, too many" reactions, when most passives aren't significant, merely stepping stones.
@DarthMicrotransaction TV I don't know where to really send this, but I guess this is as good place as any It's been a really rough year for me (passing of my father in August) and various other bad periods over the year, and I wanted to thank you for the entertaining content (I'm a TH-cam Andy, and everything you push out is funny and its gold). TH-cam has been a beacon of distraction in the best way possible the past few months, and you're one of the creators I enjoy the most right now. The PoE community since Kalguur has been legitimately fantastic and it will be a fantastic end of the year, thanks to GGG and all of you content creators out there being MVPs and making this so much more fun. I know you've been part of the community for a while now, but I still want to say that your addition to the community has been game-changing this year. Thanks for the hard work, and keep up the grind
Sorry to hear about the lose of your dad. My dad passed Jan 7 so I know how you're feeling. Looking forward to playing this epic game at a shitty time of the year for me. Cheers brother
@@polishsausage1827 Sorry to hear that too Game is gonna be sick! Already booked 9th and 10th off of work :D Hopefully servers will be stable after the launch weekend!
I have never played an ARPG but all the hype and love I’ve seen people giving both GGG and POE makes me want to do it. I’m going to wait until next week when I get paid but I’m pretty pumped. Going in blind even though I watched Asmon play he didnt really do a “build guid” he just played it and I just listened to it in the background while I worked
You say such wise things. It overwhelmed me so much that, unfortunately, I could only watch up to minute 4. I hope that one day I will be able to continue watching the video.
I'm playing poe on/off for years by now. I don't know how many season I played and never got to the endgame (maps). I did not read any guides or something. I used a guide in 3.23 and reached endgame for the first time. yay. What I'm trying to say is, that I had a blast with the game, even without reaching endgame or reading guides or having THE BEST BUILD
i really think the economy resets making it worth for the devs to improve the campaign and levelling experience are one of the best things about this genre , the levelling being bad ond 100% focus on endgame is such a common problem is games nowadays
New Player here! Tried to play POE 1 and just couldn't get into it because of the FOV and the fact I felt I couldn't explore without wasting time. Thank you for your videos, I've been watching all of your coverage for PoE 2 and I feel like you're a good balance of HYPE and reality.
@phrozenliquidz No way to know that without trying it. There's a lot of footage and first hand impressions and it looks quite different than POE 1. I'm stoked to play
I have overwhelming faith in LargeBattleshipStudios. It's an indie dev who makes single player games with strong emphasis on narrative and characters. I played one and liked it a lot. I played another one and I liked it more than anything else I've ever played. I've played third one and it blew out my expectations out of the window, for it was even better than previous one (I didn't even think it was possible). There are couple games in the works now and I already know they'll be amazing, because I deadass this dev is one single best writer across all of the gaming media.
@@Morf818 ok. So you're still in act1 I guess. You've seen approximately 0.0056% of the game so far 😀 (the 10 acts campaign is just a basic tutorial, as crazy as it may sound) What's your main skill gem right now ?
@@Morf818 to be honest, you probably won't get a very accurate feel of anything unless you at least beat the campaign. And by that time the PoE2 early access will already be out. As a more or less casual player, it took me around three months before I felt like I had at least a vague idea of what the game was really about and feel less overwhelmed by the bazillion skillgems/support gems, the crazy amount of complex game mechanics and the gargantuan number of suffixes/affixes to learn so you can eventually chose/craft better gear as you progress through the endless stages of difficulty the game throws at you. And at that point I still had almost no idea how the endgame worked and my understanding of the various crafting techniques was at a bare minimum. So unless you wait till PoE2 fullgame release in at least 5-6 months and focus on the first game in the meanwhile, it's pretty safe to say you won't experience much of PoE1 at all. Which is perfectly fine 🙂
Thank you for this. I loved PoE the moment i put eyes on it, but everytime I tried to really understand and get help people were so rude I gave up. I really hope veteran players stop acting like they're PoE doctors or something and welcome the thousands of new players trying to get to know and love PoE 2. Looking forward to Dec 6. 🖤
Tbh I went in completely blind and only have 4 hours in poe1 and it's surprisingly intuitive imo. I'm running a frost monk. Dude that fucking bell with frost nova rinses mobs
The more people that play the game the better it will be. Let’s all enjoy it together and help each other out so it can be the best version of itself it can be.
Ive always used a buildguide as a casual softcore player on and off the last 7+ years, this time im planning to go in fresh and build as i go for the first time, simply because of the respec change in poe2
I was linked this as a "this will help you as a new player". However i feel like this is more like a "this is me just talking about poe 2 listen if you want". Love the video, and i enjoyed your takes on alot of things. :)
thank you for this video. I bought diablo 4 two weeks ago because I wanted to try it. as soon as I bought it, all i saw were people talking about this game. I am beyond excited to try it tonight. i’ve only ever played a few hours of both D3 and D4 but now enough to ever learn much about the genre. PoE2 looks like the perfect spot for me to get in on the ground floor and give the genre a good shake to see if I like it. 😊
Larian Studios - Pinnacle of modern CRPGs OwlCat - Pinnacle of Computer RPGs Grinding Gear Games - Pinnacle of Isometric ARPGs FromSoftware - Pinnacle of traditional ARPGs Who’s next?
I agree with you about the non-systems aspects of POE1, the background music is amazing, the voice acting is great, the NPCs are all very distinct and memorable characters, and I thought the plot was really good and interesting. Can't wait to see what they deliver on Friday!
TH-camr named Mathilification spoke about the hype himself... We are absolutely blessed to have a beloved game release based off of an already present masterpiece in the genre of ARPG, lets take this hype to focus on enjoying an art form presented to us by the developers without the need of min-maxing mechanics we know pretty much nothing about as of yet. TH-camrs out there are literally making content already presenting potential builds for clear speed, bossing, whats going to be overpowered, what sucks etc etc… Chill out, dive into it and experience it knowing what we know from teasers (if you watched them that is), just like some of us dived into other fantastic games before the days of the internet, solely from looking at a CD art cover at a game store or trailer. May not be the right approach for all, but Im almost sure it will make it so much more enjoyable for each individual person.
@darthmicrotransaction Thsnk you for this video. My wife and I have watched you for a while now and I truly love the acceptance msg at the end. We're new to PoE (our first toons are still less than 24 hours old), but have been avid gamers for well over 2 decades. The game looks very much our speed and we're looking forward to meeting new people in the community. Keep up the amazing work!!
really loved my first poe 1 playthrough until i hit a progression wall that essentially needed a build guide (or phd) to surpass. great to see poe 2 will be more flexible in this regard and let us iterate on builds without starting fresh
ive just been solo playing PoE and its been a blast. ill wait a day or two to get into PoE 2 but im really looking forward to it Builds are beyond overwhelming to think about so im happy to hear its new changes
You’re so wholesome bro. I think it’s good that you’re explaining these subjects. I tell my friends all the time that path of exile is a “forever” game it’s not a race it’s a long lovely sprint. GGG is the goat right now IMO.
I'm coming from a surface level knowledge of D4 and had fun with that but POE2 looks so incredibly fun its insane and I trust a knowledgeable person like yourself who has experience in the ARPG scene and I feel welcomed into the community it's really cool feeling right now and I'm so hyped.
Thank you for this. Always appreciated your content when I played D4 until their first season. Having two younger kids my gamer husband and I have had very little time to play, but we're itching to get back into something. I think i created a character in PoE a long time ago and that was about as far as i got. Excited to jump into PoE2 brand new!
I fully agree. One of the greatest aspects to an ARPG is creating your own character. Experimenting with skills, and items to see what works well. It's about having fun in your own style, not copying someone else's character. It's understandable that some people just want to zoom to power, but it's kind of sad if they're skipping the journey of creative progression.
I will be a brand new Path of Exile community member come December 6th. I’m coming over from Diablo 4. I’ve been devouring any and all PoE 2 content just learn general basics of how things work. I’m going to play and build however I want while I learn the game. It’s only early access. There’s no rush to blast. We have 6 months to a year before the game actually releases. If I mess up my character in any way (which will definitely happen) i’ll just respec or even start a brand new character. Eventually I will follow build guides and min/mix for endgame but while I learn i’m just going to play with everything the game offers and have fun. I’ll see all of you in early access!
I'm brand new to PoE. I'm jumping into the beta. During the beta I'm planning to just wing it and try out some base builds. I can look up build guides and deeper understanding around full release. For now during beta, I'm going to focus on experiencing the core of the gameplay.
New player. In love with poe2, last December was bg3. Running in blind and loving the pc crossovers i can finally play. A long way from diablo on playstation. Both in my all time club now.
This is the kind of genre defining game that feels more like an event instead of just a game launch. Everyone remembers where they were when D2 was released. This is what D4 was supposed to feel like.
I recently discovered you, subbed of course, I love the fact that you recommend playing the game without influence from streamers or guides as this new approach to the game allows it more than ever (truly new generation of ARPG), that is very rare for a streamer to say and I love you for that. I will do it too even tho I probably have 1k hours in PoE1 but I will definitely check up on you soon, the bell is ON :) DM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a new player to PoE (~700 hrs) stuck at 2 orbs. My first campaign clear, I reviewed many build guides but then sort of rolled my own, loosely emulating what they were doing. That character suffered from a common phenomenon I see in chat "I cleared the campaign but now I get one-shot in the entry level of the end game?" And there is the classic "Why isn't there feedback what killed me?" It's very easy to hit major stalls as far as character progression. My last last few hundred hours has been composed of mostly long stalls between infrequent but rewarding "limit breaks." Those limit breaks generally occur after watching additional build/demo videos on youtube and gleaning something new like "lucky" rolls and the math behind binomial distributions. I'm playing a "don't get hit build" so I'm also learning all the crazy animations and sounds to avoid incoming damage. It's a crazy deep build system, and there is limited in-game feedback (other than how you perform) with what some of the choices you make actually do. The DPS stat is entirely unreliable because of all the variables at play. I was probably 400 hours in before I loaded up Path of Building. I'm very interested how PoE2 will play as far as improving in-game feedback for your build and breaking up this waterfall model progress I'm experiencing in the PoE1 endgame.
DM, you are awesome. I've recently just started making some content (POE2 and D2R), you've inspired me like crazy, and I totally agree about being welcoming. I think we're going to see a huge crowd coming from totally different games than this D2/D4/POE circle. I also made a video just trying to be open to everyone and encouraging, and it's cool seeing it come from the top as well. Anyways, you're the man, one of my very favorite creators, and it's been awesome watching you grow. Now you are basically leading the charge! All the best dude, maybe one day PVP will be a thing, and we can all come together for some outrageous POE2 experiences and videos :P

Look poe2 forget d4 i got more views.😂
just a little PSA from a person who played poe 1 standard for over 10 years, this video comes from the perspective of someone who has not experienced and is completely unaware of the depths of suffering GGG has put the poe 1 playerbase through over the years. someone who has never had their entire build that he spent years polishing completely destroyed by GGG for no apparent reason.
The way that some of you ARPG players talk about GGG & Jonathon reminds me of how people like myself think of Larian Studios & Swen. Love to hear it.
that is exactly it! I dabble in both genres and GGG are up there with Larian, or FromSoft, in terms of credibility, track record, and passion for their games
This is how I describe my trust in GGG to my friends.
Personally it's really similar, that's a rare feel nowadays from a developer and a studio as a whole.
like that except not manufactured yes
Path of Exile is one of the only games I can think of where I've given them money not because I felt pressured to do so, but because I've gotten so much enjoyment from the game that rewarding them felt only natural.

Heads up, there are some toxic people in the community but just ignore them. That being said, there are tons of helpful and nice people as well. I guess that's how most communities work but POE can be very tribalist. Hope you have a great time with POE2 and see you in Wraeclast, Exile

Look, if you truly like a good rpg...know that this game is going to kick your ass....but youll like it and keep coming back for more punishment. 😂
Weird thing to complement a developer this way that didn't even explain it's games mechanics
Yeah common sense updates, like trading on an AH instead of a website.
two things that do seem lost in game development nowadays: a) transparency; b) playing your own game.
GGG does both of those in spades. Confident PoE 2 will live up to the hype!
Dudes GGG games doesn’t really exist anymore they got purchased by TenCent a while back. It’s the largest game dev in the world.
*a friend of mine reccomended me poe exactly 11 years ago now my lightning witch turns 11 years old today we played the game by our own pace and im gonna start poe 2 with the same pace and mindset*
*also the game has now unlimited content and i have enough money now to support the creators hehe feels like im robbing this beautiful work of art*
11 years? So you dont need to make a new character every season?
@@luigipeachbowser118 not if u play on standard league. Economy is kinda weird sometimes tho with ppl moving between new league and standard.
Even after 11 years :)
the good thing about poe 2 is also that it resets the economy for everyone. the economy is weird in standard poe1 because the game is 11 years old so.
Having just found your channel this year, you have quickly skyrocketed to one of my favorite creators for the ARPG scene. Your love for the genre is obvious, and I appreciate your honesty no matter what. I'm sorry it took me so long to subscribe. I look forward to more videos!

D4 bad
:D
As long as we all have fun and D4 bad, everyone will be on the same page. It will be exciting to see what D5 will be based on come 12/6.
Facts.
Watching the game director talk and seeing how much passion he has for the game sold me on the game more than the actual gameplay, lol.
pretty confident that most of the players coming with that plan will hate their first 10 hours. you will be dead all the time.
PoE is such a fantastic gem once you can get beyond the first (admittedly big) hurdle. I'm hoping you fall in love with PoE2, with what seems to be a much smaller hurdle :)
glhf! cheers!
same exact situation and approach here.
Thanks!
Happy to hear it, and yea it's gonna be easier than ever in poe 2, now that you can respec with gold, just play at your own pace and have fun :)
ssf ftw
u do understand that u could just play normal league without trading 😂😂no need to ssf for discovery
A Monk wielding the elements seems super fun and im HYPED for the weekend!
i gotta say , having played Poe1 and Last Epoch, PoE2 looks great if you enjoyed Last epoch

I think a lot of people will have a bad awakening. Most poeple dont expect dark souls type of gameplay from an ARPG where most people want to blast. It will surprise me if the game has more than 200k players after a week or two.
I think it's a dream game for PoE 1 fans. This game looks way too overwhelming for me. I like.to play games and have fun not feel like work and a job
This is the way. It's no big deal if you ever get stuck or brick a character or whatever. Start over and try again. You'll still have fun.
The best message everyone can get and actually follow is, do not try to connect this 6th.

Welcome aboard the hype train ! You won't be disappointed GGG have some amazing devs.
Odds are you won't like the first game at all, which is honestly kinda cool, its interesting to see people coming over from other ARPG games or even people who are completely new to ARPG games, you won't be left out of anything by not playing the first game, both will co-exist as they are going to be vastly different from each other

My best advice for anyone just starting PoE is to take your time and enjoy your journey. Above all else, GGG's transparency and willingness to listen to feedback (and do something with it) is what sets them apart from all others in the industry. Making a sequel encompassing all of that feedback and also making it more accessible to a broader audience is what makes me so hype for this game.

One thing that should be mentioned in the video is that they DO make mistakes, it’s just that the response to those mistakes is communication to correction, observation and then execution.
Well said DM…can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with
@DarthMicrotransaction TV
I don't know where to really send this, but I guess this is as good place as any
It's been a really rough year for me (passing of my father in August) and various other bad periods over the year, and I wanted to thank you for the entertaining content (I'm a TH-cam Andy, and everything you push out is funny and its gold).
My condolences
@@luxter858 Thansk brother
Sorry to hear about the lose of your dad. My dad passed Jan 7 so I know how you're feeling. Looking forward to playing this epic game at a shitty time of the year for me. Cheers brother
@@polishsausage1827 Sorry to hear that too
Game is gonna be sick!
Already booked 9th and 10th off of work :D
Hopefully servers will be stable after the launch weekend!
Definitely slow running my first character. Gonna drink it in. Cant wait
Just started poe 1 and the community has been amazing to me helping me along the way
New Player here! Tried to play POE 1 and just couldn't get into it because of the FOV and the fact I felt I couldn't explore without wasting time.
Thank you for your videos, I've been watching all of your coverage for PoE 2 and I feel like you're a good balance of HYPE and reality.
The fov is nearly the exact same in PoE2. You're always welcome to explore any area you come across so I'm not sure how that's an issue.
What made you feel like exploring would be a waste of time?
@@alextompa2669 I think they mean that there's nothing there to explore, so you often just end up in a dead end = wasted time.
My man I don't think you're gonna like PoE2 lol
Im a new player too. I loved the video so much and I actually downloaded POE a week ago to kind of see the mechanics.
How far did you manage to go ?
@ I just killed the first boss in prison and moving along. I’m playing the ranger and want to play the ranger in POE2.
@@Morf818 ok. So you're still in act1 I guess. You've seen approximately 0.0056% of the game so far 😀 (the 10 acts campaign is just a basic tutorial, as crazy as it may sound)
What's your main skill gem right now ?
@ yeah still at act 1. Yeah I really just wanted to kind of see mechanics and get the feel for the game.
This man is farming content harder than asmon
The more people that play the game the better it will be. Let’s all enjoy it together and help each other out so it can be the best version of itself it can be.
It's amazing how we can all get together and agree on one thing.
D4 bad, PoE good.
Ive always used a buildguide as a casual softcore player on and off the last 7+ years, this time im planning to go in fresh and build as i go for the first time, simply because of the respec change in poe2
Darth, I appreciate everything you do.
Never played any games like this it just looks cool and very modern I can’t wait to play this
Larian Studios - Pinnacle of modern CRPGs
OwlCat - Pinnacle of Computer RPGs
Grinding Gear Games - Pinnacle of Isometric ARPGs
FromSoftware - Pinnacle of traditional ARPGs
Who’s next?
Wtf is a computer RPG? Their games are on console, and wouldn't CRPGs be computer RPGs?
Mathil is always based
@darthmicrotransaction Thsnk you for this video.
All aboard the Hype train! I'm so happy to be excited about a game coming out for a change, it feels good.
ive just been solo playing PoE and its been a blast. ill wait a day or two to get into PoE 2 but im really looking forward to it
Builds are beyond overwhelming to think about so im happy to hear its new changes
Going in blind and very excited to do so. All I have watched are overviews of classes so I could decide what I wanted to play
You’re so wholesome bro. I think it’s good that you’re explaining these subjects. I tell my friends all the time that path of exile is a “forever” game it’s not a race it’s a long lovely sprint. GGG is the goat right now IMO.
New player here checking out the genre for the first time.
I'm coming from a surface level knowledge of D4 and had fun with that but POE2 looks so incredibly fun its insane and I trust a knowledgeable person like yourself who has experience in the ARPG scene and I feel welcomed into the community it's really cool feeling right now and I'm so hyped.
Its great to see how far you have come! When I subbed you were only at around maybe 2k, congrats bro!
a friendly, welcoming community. man that'd be something!
I always appreciate your videos, Raxx
I’ve never played an arpg I just started playing Poe 1 due to my excitement for 2 2 days ago and wow I’m in love with Poe very excited for this
I'm brand new to PoE.
Will be my first ever dive into the genre, looking forward to my brain melting with info and systems :D
This is the kind of genre defining game that feels more like an event instead of just a game launch. Everyone remembers where they were when D2 was released.
This is what D4 was supposed to feel like.
Great video! Thanks for making this!
My thoughts exactly. DM, never stop being you.
I played poe 1 on Xbox years ago, don’t even remember much but it was fun lol can’t wait for Poe 2
I'm a new player, got 2 level 40 characters, the games done a great job explaining what to do and I'm confident in my builds, love this game so far.
i haven't watched your vids since like 3 months after diablo 4 since that was my first introduction to arpgs. i have played a few now and im soooooooooooo excited for POE 2. been watching your vids again for a few days now glad i have a reason to watch your stuff again... well mostly have it recommended to me again in my feed
I cant wait for it to launch, never played Poe 1, looking forward to play it with a buddy
Fantastic video as always. Thank you, this is helpful as someone who got shamed out of playing POE1 by people who said I was too dumb to play it.
