I love this video! I have the feeder on the right. My Baltimore orioles love the jelly, but they're not going for the oranges. Hmmm I love the use of a suet feeder and am trying that now. I peeled an orange & put them on spikes on the other feeder We'll see what happens!

    Is it Grape Jelly?

I use grape. It works, but fresh oranges are what the Baltimores in my backyard really crave. Catbirds and then something-at-night(raccoons ??) go for grape jelly as if it was a food staple. Orioles also eat a lot of suet during the breeding season. I feed all birds suet. I have read that Orioles are partial to orange flavored suet, but I see them consumer all three flavors I put out equally.
More: Today I put out a fresh orange right next to my jelly cups, and the Orioles have only opted for the fresh orange. I just cut a small orange in half and place the 2 halves atop my clothesline post "T". Other, more costly solutions have added only expense.
During breeding season it seems that every species likes the suet.
I tried mealworms for Orioles, but other birds ate them..something fruity works for Orioles. I am going to try cherries and blackberries as I have two cherry trees and many blackberry plants.
If I was just starting out I would put out oranges, grape jelly and a good, all-season suet. If you have Orioles about, that should work. Once you have determined that the birds are present, then try other foods.

How often do you change food?

I'm in Maryland. Orioles will come to my many feeders but won't feed. They just look at them.

I finally got a male to eat jelly from a Red solo cup that I cut in half and sat in an orange colored cup holder w/ a clamp (the clamp is suppose to attach to the side of a lawn chair) but it's clamped onto our shed.

Please cover the nail sticking up on the feeder on the right to protect the birds that might injure themselves. Thanks just made me nervous, not being critical, thanks for posting this great video.

Birds aren't near heavy enough for that to hurt them.

How do you keep yellow jackets away from the oranges? We have so many right now but can't find a nest. Professionals that came out said they forage up to 200 ft away from their nest for food (yellowjackets). I have mockingbirds and other birds who would eat the oranges, but the yellowjackets tend to swarm anything like fruit this time of year and even ran our birds off the platform feeder due to the raisins and other dried fruit in the feed and the mealworms.

Use clear sofa bottles with orange nectar or Soda in the bottom. Wasp will fly in and drown in the liquid.
