  • In the Southeast Pacific, off the coast of Chile, underwater mountains create a breathtaking deep-sea landscape where cold-water corals, intricate glass sponges, anemones, and a host of creatures that captivate the imagination are thriving. Nearly half of the animals living here exist nowhere else on Earth. Seamounts are oases for biodiversity; for the last month, an international team of scientists explored this understudied region in our global ocean. Data and imagery collected on the #SEPacificSeamounts expedition will help advance Chile’s effort to establish a high-seas marine protected area along the Nazca and Salas y Gómez Ridges.

No words for the incredible beauty, grace, and diversity of these creatures. Humans have destroyed so much in their greed and arrogance. We need to awaken to the fact that we are but one species woven into the great tapestry of life in which all species have a place and a purpose.

The nature is just so amazing, there are still unimaginable number of things only on earth hiding underneath the most remote places yet to be explored and discovered, it's even hard to imagine what else is out there, still wonderful and exciting.
Love to the entire team of Schmidt Ocean❤!

The manifestation of the infinite knowledge and wisdom of Allah Almighty. He creates what He wills. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

Beautiful beyond words...I had to slow it down and watch it again to really see the animals as it went so quickly. Amazing!

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this. It is absolutely astonishing. So many, many, many more people need to see this. It brings such wonderful attention to the fascinating flora and fauna below us. 🖤.

I used to think it was terrible that we've explored more outer space than we have our own oceans. Then I found out how horribly we've destroyed the lives of ocean creatures without even exploring very much and now I just wish we'd leave the oceans alone entirely. The beauty we manage to destroy on the sea and on land, and without the majority of humanity caring, is inexcusable. Thank you to all who do anything big or small to help our oceans and the creatures that live there. 🙏💙

The natural world is like an art museum and the deep sea is the floor with wild abstract art. The little bioluminescent fellas are in the psychedelic sub-exhibit.

Our beautiful and wondrous cousins. Beyond sad so many are being lost to The Sixth Mass Extinction, better referred to as the First Mass Extermination since it is our greedy species responsible for their demise.

2024 and we are still finding these designs beyond comprehension.. 8.7 million species and counting. Considering what has come and gone that we might never know about, it's a humbling concept. I can't imagine not ascribing this to a higher intelligence.
I thank God I'm too ignorant of such things to doubt him.
