If you move to Nevada, you could take day trips into Los Angeles (I'm sure you've considered that). We can't do much lately either. It sucks.

a good friend of mine did the same thing at the start of the pandemic. she took advantage of the rent relief they had here and didn’t renew her lease. she’s paying less for a bigger space in a safer area and can finally save for when she returns to la.

I have a great disdain for Los Angeles. Fortunately there are hotbeds in Dallas and Austin for Filmmaking, as a native Texan. I have completed my first feature screenplay and am excited to see what I can make of it. Best of luck to you, Sir.

LA has its pros and cons. Right now I’m missing NYC a lot, but I feel like LA is where I need to be. But you’re right, film hubs are popping up all over now, especially in places like Texas and Atlanta. Congratulations and best of luck on your feature! 🙌🏾

The odds of getting COVID are way higher in NY due to its density, weather, and environment. LA is less dense, warmer, and is more more conducive to outside meetings & activities. You sound homesick, which is real. Plus you live so far from LA it must be difficult to enjoy the upsides of the move west, since the cost/benefit of moving to CA is isolation vs proximity to the biz. My advice is move closer to the industry before you give up... If the financials allow. Good luck!

*looks at LA area hit 40K+ new cases daily*
OK, “more conducive to outside meetings and activities.” I’ll wait until things calm down a bit before easing up on my personal safety measures.
And clearly you haven’t been watching because I’ve been trying to move closer! 🤣🤣 That was the whole arc of the previous season. 😜 Things didn’t work out but I’m gonna give it another shot soon.

@@JayFingers I've watched and liked every video. I'm saying don't move back until you've got that goal accomplished, cuz it might change things significantly.

People in California are straight up pretending that Covid is over, and ignoring the whole situation with omicron. It’s weird. All of the talk of how much more leftist this state is and yet the need to reopen because “the economy” or people’s need to go socialize has totally taken over all rational thought

And to think: you probably filmed this BEFORE the tsunami stories where people were ignoring the beach closures just to go surfing instead. Anywho- yeah, issa no on florida for me too and that’s all i’ve known. (probably a tsunami hitting here for real would be the only thing to make me go back there). i’m not built for the stress levels that fl politicians bring. that and the fact that no income tax ONLY looks good until you realize there’s no income there 🥴🥴🥴

Hey you could always go away for a while and then come back. The high rents and shallow people will still be waiting for you in LA. And meanwhile you can go live somewhere less expensive and not get covid. Your health and well being is more important. And it’s just not important for you to be in LA right now

Do what's best for you. I would love to move to LA, but right now with covid. It doesn't seem like it much you can do out there. Alot of productions happen in LA, and they can't even work. Jobs are closing down. Have a plan , make sure it's the right move for you. where would you go ?

Write, write, write, polish and present. You are right there where the magic pretty much unfolds and at least you'd be ready once things reopen to step in and carve out your place in the industry.
You seem to be a social butterfly of sorts and you're craving that outer connection again, I feel for ya. Hard to weigh in on that aspect because I can stay shuttered for months and months on end drinking gallons of coffee, writing and taking in marathons of tv shows. Pretty much did that before the pandemic. I wish you well, look forward to reading and seeing your work and it is my desire for you to find the life balance that works best for you.
