I just have to say thank you so much for helping me reconnect with my culture. My mom came to the United States form Russia before I was I born and she never really taught me how to cook anything, especially any Russian food. So, when I went to go visit my grandma She was amazed at all the Russian food I knew how to make and she let me help her cook. Not knowing the language super well this was such an amazing bonding experience! Seriously I can’t thank you enough Helen!!!!! Большое спасибо❤️❤️❤️❤️

so weird - I'm new to this channel and was at first intrigued by her accent...it wasn't obvious until I saw this and clicked and then immediately recognized it. It's just her softer tone I think that hides it just a bit. Lovely person.

Her accent sounds continental or Brazilian Portuguese too. In fact, it was hard to tell because her accent is so softened up.
I think it’s clarifying which Eastern European country she’s from.
You've never spoken to anyone from Serbia, Moldova or Ukraine I take it.

Who is Helen? Helen is one of my internet inspirations, who helps me improve my skills and deepens my knowledge of kitchen related procedures. She's made my culinary life more interesting and I look forward to every new video. Her accent is of absolutely no consequence to me. She is awesome.

Why HR's channel is a favorite here in our house: (a) precision at all stages!, (b) testing and ""the comparative method" to tease out what are better cooking techniques/materials, (c) at times almost a myth-busters for the kitchen!, (d) such exquisite care to each step in cooking, (e) clear content (---with HR I never have to rewind to catch poorly presented material---), and (f) originality in choice of recipes, so many new dishes and techniques that in my protected life I 'd never seen,
Plus excellent production techniques: great sound at the right level, no distracting/silly music. Thank you!

I'm surprised that more viewers don't recognize the accent; it sounds Russian to me. Now that we've gotten that out of the way--this is an excellent channel with fantastic recipes and great advice. One of my most favorite things about this channel is that you actually teach people how to COOK, not just how to follow a recipe. Many people can step through a recipe, but it takes a special person to teach the intricacies behind the recipe so that we can adapt and recreate according to our own circumstances. Thanks for sharing your insights with us!

I heard Boston and I thought, where's the AH (r's)? My brother lived there for a couple of years and picked it up. He enjoyed doing the accent to sound exotic from time to time. Love your videos! They're helping me become a better, more versatile cook. I've been trying to learn a little Russian as a challenge and ran into your channel looking for recipes to try for Russian cuisine. Food and language are wonderful ways to get to know people. Glad to see the update!

Lovely, Helen! My paternal grandparents immigrated in early 1900 from Odessa and Feodosia. I wish I'd learned to cook ANYTHING from their culture. I'm hoping to learn from your channel.
