    So, try using these collocations with HAVE and TAKE? Are there any you get confused by?
    I'll put a list of the collocations mentioned here later today...I'm just at work now getting ready for a lesson.
    Don't forget if you become a patreon, your'll get the worksheet to accompany this lesson ;-)

    If I'm not mistaken, collocation is two or more words that often go together. The combinations just sound "right" to native English speakers, who use them all the time. On the other hand, other combinations may be unnatural and just sound "wrong". Notwithstanding the similarity of meaning, which is more formal of these collocations: "have a seat" or "take a seat"?

    • @LoveEnglishUK
      @LoveEnglishUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh!!! Nice comment! I would suggest ‘take a seat’ could sound a little more formal but it’s more about how you say it ‘would you like to have seat?’ Vs ‘take a seat’ could actually sound rude as an imperative. Depending on the situating.👍👩🏻‍🏫

      ‘I did make a mistake’ you don’t need ‘did’ there. Unless you are trying to add emphasis. You’re English is good. The only error you made in your first comment was that you didn’t have an object at the end of the sentence ‘I’ve got not money to pay for it’ 😊👍💕👩🏻‍🏫😉🇬🇧

    I had an ice cream. I took an ice cream. Are both correct? Thanks

    • @LoveEnglishUK
      @LoveEnglishUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can’t say I took an ice cream unless you are referring to moving the ice cream. If you are referring to ‘eating’ the ice cream is would always be ‘have an ice cream’ 💕👍😊 🍦
