I heard just about something crystal clear and the other c3 nitrate something. Can you please give me details about this where I can purchase this or something like this. Cheers bud 👊

I really love his discus. Definetly some beauties there. Id love to see some more discus tanks if you get another opportunity. Maybe even a tour of some fish shops if they allow you. Keep up the great content.

I love discuss in terms of appearance but they seem so skittish and boring unfortunately, I've never kept them though so I could be completely wrong. I have considered them in the past in my 480l but I had a single flowerhorn instead. I've got 10 tanks and my favourite is my reef tank.

I ve kept south americans, africans, regular community fish and discus are by far the Nr1 fish to keep! I have 15 discus and they all have different personality's unlike african cichlids. Discus are beautiful big and you can keep them with plants + smaller fish like cardinals.
If u keep up with the maintenance they will be fine. I ve find them actually really hardy. For People that are lazy and do maybe 1 WC in 3 months they will find discus difficulut. But if u do a WC every week or every other week based on youre feeding behavior they will do great just like any other fish. Give them a try and u will find out how amazing they are. They eat of youre hand and if u come up to youre tank they will swim towards u and greet you.. some do it some don't like humans they all have different personality's!
Give them a try and u will find out ^_^

@@kakakid22 yeah I could easily keep the maintenance up, but being a university student means I'm fairly broke, especially when I pump most of my money into my reef haha, but they sound worthy of a go. I do water changes every single week in every tank (reef not so much)

  • @spp2000
    @spp2000 ปีที่แล้ว +1

4:15 I can't agree more with this person.Discus are not that hard to keep.
I have a fairly large tank. It's a 5ft 150G/550L tank with filter floss, K1 rumbled, ceramic blocks and that's it.
I noticed, as long as you use RO water and have the best filtration system for your tank, you don't need daily or weekly water changes.
I do 80-90% water change once a month and my discus are thriving.
I have 12 adults who get fed twice a day. Primary diet is Australian black worms and later in the night they get pellets/flakes. I feed beef heart once in 15 days. So anyone who tells you BHM should be their staple diet is just trying to sell you snake oil.
To summarise, if you want to keep discus:
    1. Definitely opt for a good 3 chamber sump filtration. No experience with canisters so not sure.
    2. Use RO water or the commercially available large 20/25L mineral water cans (No need for TDS, chlorine, PH or any API test kit checks)
    3. You don't have to really on heart mix as primary diet (your tank will be crystal clear with ABW, flakes, pellets)
    4. 27C/80F minimum water temp

A tank that needs regular maintenance is not a ecosystem its a disaster waiting to happen if that filter goes off they will be dead in about 3 days... He can't go away for the weekend!

Hes never tested his water and doesn't condition it 🙄. If I tried that I wouldn't even be able to keep a Guppy

You shouldn’t put the air bubbles under neath the heater it will just expel the heat at the surface. Your heating bill must be massive

    • @spp2000

Exactly! I wish they had taken a couple of mins off to keep the child busy before shooting the video. It was very annoying to enjoy such a beautiful tank with the kid screeching.
