This is not a bad business. There are a lot of other equipment rental businesses to get into as well. However, I think the goal should be to start your own business and not work with Turo long-term as they take a big cut and their prices are low.

This could really work. The guy I rented my Turo rental car from has a fleet of 51 cars. 51 !!! He told me he prefers to use Turo as his only rental platform is because they handle most of the behind the scenes stuff; charging people who don't pay toll fees, parking tickets, insurance, minor car accidents. Although Turo takes 25% that's more time for him to concentrate on other aspects of the business or life in general. That 25% is about what he would have to pay for employees to handle those tasks. Not bad

You can choose 90% plan which is way more profitable and better option if you use cheap cars like this person. But Turo takes a huge profit on fees they charge the guest.

Honestly it's better off to use a used car and then a brand new car and choose a 65% option where you're fully covered no matter what.. then when you get your money up you can buy a new car and add it to your fleet..

Seems pretty good but only issue I'd see long term is relying on Turo. They ultimately set the market and how many fees they take. If they decide to make ot uneconomical for you to rent, your business is screwed. Many tech companies like Uber and courier apps are doing this now as their priftability for execs are falling. The first thing to be squeezed out is always the labor.

It’s completely possible to buy cheap Turo ready cars. I follow a very similar model and am up to 17 cash cars.
The way to know you’re getting a good deal is to look up that vehicle’s specific market value (KBB, CarGurus, etc.) and if you are paying less than that value, you are getting a good deal.
That’s a simplified way to explain it, but a lot of other factors should be considered.

Or do you have to legally start this business model just for cars? I figured a broad business name that included rentals in the name would allow this? Any business savy people in here? What would a hotel do if you wanted to stay longer in your room and the room was already booked by another customer? They would either have to offer the other customer another room or they would have to deny you the extension. Same thing here. The Turo platform allows extensions and cancellations. So, it is up to you what you want to do. You could tell the existing renter that you cannot extend as the vehicle is already booked. Or, you could cancel the second reservation and then extend the first one. Of course, canceling any reservation may anger a customer and he may leave a bad review. That is why you need a FLEET.
