      Yes, you could make two filters out of one vacuum cleaner bag. But I like using a double filter. Any of the slimes that get through the first layer will get trapped by the second. This will ensure high purity silver.

    • @sreetips
      @sreetips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Current flow does the work. Higher silver concentrations increase conductivity. I could use 350g instead of 600g but the electrolyte would be less conductive, slower, and increase risk of becoming depleted and start to codeposit copper

      Hello Australia. I’d recommend that you hold that silver like it is. It contains a known quantity of silver and will track right on up with the bullion. No need to refine it so long as you don’t try to “melt it down” and ruin the markings. Do that and its value becomes questionable.

    • @sreetips
      @sreetips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Copper dust would work. But, when cementing silver, it’s best to use large flat pieces. Using dust would ultimately end up creating higher copper contamination in your cement silver.

    • @joshua.snyder
      @joshua.snyder 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would work, but seperation would be a pain. Cement silver with copper powder would require another round of dissolution and cementation and you'd have to use a solid copper, or a different method to reclaim pure silver anyway.
      Better off melting the Cu powder into a solid bar for this purpose, if it is all you have.

    Hi, Mr. Sreetips. Do you know why your silver is copper colored before the cell? Is there so much copper in it? Thanks for the video.

    • @sreetips

    • @chrisr.2410
      @chrisr.2410 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The silver in the electrolyte slowly gets replaced by the copper contamination in the silver shot. Eventually the electrolyte will be full of copper and won't be able to take any more and the copper will start depositing in the silver crystals contaminating them. That's why it starts out clear but turns darker blue the longer the cell is run.

    • @sreetips
      @sreetips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The silver in the electrolyte depletes, plates out, as the cell operates

    I know this might b a stupid question but here it goes anyways. Are u growing silver.? This is so interesting and is honestly very informative. I’ve learned more from you than I ever did in school. I just don’t get one thing though. If you are yielding silver like growing it. Or is this just a way to refine it. Thanks for the good content.

    • @sreetips
      @sreetips  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am growing silver. But not out of thin air. I am adding impure 99% silver shot to the anode basket and passing an electric current through it. The current dissolves the impure silver. The impurities get trapped in the anode filter. The silver passes through the filter. The dissolved silver travels through the blue electrolyte and plates out as absolutely pure elemental silver on the inside of the stainless steel bowl.

  • @jeremyv5650

      9999 means that out of ten thousand parts, 9999 of them are silver only one is not silver. The 9999 silver coins that you refer to started out as silver crystal. The silver crystal is melted then formed into coins for investors. The crystal that I have for sale is for novelty, not investment but it is investment grade silver just like the big refiners sell.

    • @Mflo786

      @@sreetips thanks for the info. Is the crystal 9999 or is it higher?

    • @sreetips
      @sreetips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had it tested with fire assay by Guardian Labs in the U.K. And it came back as three nines fine. Three nines (999 parts per thousand) is industry standard for investment grade silver. My silver is probably close to five nines (that’s 99999 per one hundred thousand) purity. But the only was to determine that is with ICP assay which is a chemical analysis. As a refiner I want my metals to be the highest purity possible but the extra nines are like splitting hairs. Completely unnecessary. Some people place a higher premium on four nines over three nines. But in the end, unless it’s being used for medicine or human consumption, it’s not necessary to stack anything over 999 parts per thousand.

    • @Mflo786
      @Mflo786 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Shouldn't any copper released from the shot remain in solution, and a few silver crystals on the steel serve as nucleation sites?
