The problem is today all of the new soca stars are trying to reach an "international" market instead of just focusing on what the West Indian community likes. The funny thing is my dad use to complain about soca in the late 90s and say it was rubbish, he said Super Blue is the one who originated modern day soca with all of his "jump up" music in the early 90s. Things evolve and change in life so I guess we shouldn't expect things to stay the same.
