Nick, you’re probably the only other person (besides myself) who puts Miasma at number one and I respect it. I LOVE that album. It’s so heavy and so catchy. Love this channel. Been absolutely addicted ever since I stumbled upon it
The boys are back with another ranking vid!!!! TBDM will always have a special place in my heart. My home town is literally the city next to Waterford, MI. There was huge hype in the scene at the time before Unhallowed dropped. My friend's band played a show with them in the Ypsilanti area around 2002. I've seen them live 6 times, highlights include ozzfest, @ the blind pig in Ann Arbor, and @ Milwaukee Metal Fest 2023. I was on the rail and Brian let my GF and I scream "Hey" in the mic. I love every album for different reasons. But for some reason Abysmal, Miasma, and Nocturnal are my top 3. Trevor will never be forgotten and I look forward to their new album.
Necrotic Nick- I as well most definitely has a special place in my heart for this band. We're out in Toledo so seeing them blow up in popularity was close to seeing a local band take off. I think I ended up seeing this band like 10 times and they would pop up down here all the time. This was tough to rank but Miasma will probably always be my personal favorite because of the instant connection I had with it. Trevor Forever!
Necrotic Nick- Solid list, man! Honestly, the Deflorate album cover is one of my favorite ones in the discography as well. Some weird post apocalyptic vibes on that one.
One word: Ritual. For me it would be like this: 1 - Ritual, 2 - Everblack, 3 - everything else. The Black Dahlia Murder is such a tight band I thought they were Swedish.
@@thrallsofmetal Yes. The Black Dahlia Murder is one of those bands. Any album can be your favourite. They've honed their style to perfection. An iconic band.
Trevor's death hurt, badly. It still hurts, I still occasionally find myself forgetting that he's gone. I was already kicking myself for not getting into the Black Dahlia Murder until Verminous (I didn't really start broadening my musical horizons into extreme metal until mid to late 2019), and was absolutely stoked to get to see them at Bloodstock in 2022, but then we got the news. So sadly I never got to see him perform. When I dived into the band's discography and interviews with him, I realised just how cool of a guy he was. No one had anything even remotely negative to say about him. I'm still stoked for what the new album will sound like, but it won't be an easy listen at first. I'm prepared for it, I'm confident it'll be killer, but it's still gonna be sad As far as ranking goes this one is a fucker to do as I find most of them so close to one another in terms of quality that it just boils down to how much time I've spent with each album and how often I find myself returning to them. Couldn't possibly do a full ranking but I will say my top 3 are Verminous, Nocturnal and Everblack in no particular order. A superb band with arguably the best frontman of his generation, certainly when it comes to just being an awesome human being. RIP Trevor 🤘🤘
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I'm the same way. It's still something that I have trouble getting my head around that Trevor's not with us. I legit feel like he was one of metal spirit animals. He had so much love and passion for the music it was infectious. I do feel bad for anyone that didn't get to see him perform or meet him because he was such an awesome dude. I love this entire discography so this was tough as hell. Like Cannibal Corpse and Immolation they're just so damn consistent that you really have to dissect each album to find those subtle differences. Regardless, it was such a blast to go over this band's stuff again. I still have such a soft spot for them in general and this only reaffirmed it.
Happy to see another ranking! TBDM is a band I never got into, even after listening to the first 3 studio albums. I wanted to see them live in January 2022, but I had to defend my bachelor's degree the very next day, so I passed thinking "Eh, I'll catch 'em next time". Little did I know...
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Their live show was what really made me a fan so I'm sorry you never got to see them with Trevor. He was such an awesome front man and you could feel the love of the music just pouring out of him. He's definitely still missed here.
For some reason, I always thought The Black Dahlia Murder was a deathcore band and that maybe because of bands like Thy Art Is Murder, Whitechapel, they had something to do with Murder and killers and I thought "oh nah, if they have murder, they are deathcore". It wasn't literally until a week before Trevor's death that I got into them, which sucks a lot. I bought 4 albums from them, but I would say Nightbringers was my first listen of TBDM. Saw them in Michigan with Phobophilic and Frozen Soul in 4/20 2023. My list would be like this: 1. Everblack 2. Nightbringers 3. Nocturnal 4. Ritual 5. Abysmal 6. Verminous 7. Miasma 8. Deflorate 9. Unhallowed Trevor forever!!! 🤘💜 -Ezzgar
I got Unhallowed as a gift from my mom, which was surprising as late '80's Ozzy is about as metal as her musical tastes get. But whenever she would go out shopping for music if she'd see something she thought my brother or I would like, she'd just pick it up. That's also how I ended up with Napalm Death's "Scum". Anyway... I'm not the biggest fan of technical/melodic stuff but I was hooked on the first listen. Might have been the traditional death and doom elements mixed in. It's a nice blend. Then I found out they're a Michigan band. Being from Michigan I found that to be a nice touch. 😂 I do agree with Jon... Where's the bass on that one? Edit: Shred windered where the bass was. If Jon did i don't remember him saying so out loud. 🤣
TREVOR FOREVER! Quite cool ranking with some very new opinions and spins on the albums, which was nice! (I can't listen to Receipt off Abysmal without shdding a tear or two)
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, this was a tough one considering I love all their albums but it was cool to see how varied our rankings came out. Trevor Forever!
Necrotic Nick- With us being so close to Detroit this band was (and still is) a staple. They toured like madmen too whether they were supporting killer bands or headlining. Trevor was a hell of dude too. I'm glad I got to chat him up several times. He was as much a fan as he was a performer.
Excellent ranking video guys. I won't hold that #8 ranking for Nightbringers against you, Jon lol. My rankings: 1. Ritual 2. Nightbringers 3. Everblack 4. Nocturnal 5. Miasma 6. Verminous 7. Unhallowed 8. Deflorate 9. Abysmal Post Trevor material is going to be an odd feeling but I welcome it! I have a feeling that's how Trevor would have wanted it!
Can’t wait to see this when I get back home tomorrow. After discovering some of the classic bands like Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel, TBDM was the first new death metal band i stumpled upon back in the day and they have just always been killer. RIP Trevor 🤘
Necrotic Nick- Well, I hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed making it. This band was big in reawakening my love of extreme metal back in the early 2000's and I've been a giant fan ever since. Trevor Forever!
Finally have time to dive into this bad boy, the top half of these are really tough to rank for me, excited to see how you guys rank em. 9. Miasma 8. Abyssmal 7. Unhallowed 6. Verminous 5. Deflorate 4. Nightbringers 3. Everblack 2. Ritual 1. Nocturnal
1 nocturnal 2 ritual 3 miasma I like all there albums the black Dahlia murder and job for a cowboy were my gateway bands to really love death metal and I'm also from Michigan.
I remember seeing Black Dahlia play live before I really became a fan. I thought they were great live but didn’t really care for the music. Only after that show I started listening more and more and became a fan. Saw them last year with Brian on vocals, excellent show! Everblack, Nightbringers and Nocturnal are my top 3 albums of theirs, but they’re all great
Necrotic Nick- While I liked what I heard in terms of the songs I checked out before I saw them live for the first time it was that live performance that sold me. They just flat out crushed live. I missed seeing them live when they did their first show with Brian on vocals. That show sold out quick as hell though but I do hope to get a chance to see them again soon. Yeah, this was tough to rank as I really enjoy all their albums.
I only recently dove into TBDM when Verminous dropped and they blew my mind! A year or so later and we lost Trevor. Such a goddamn shame. Can't wait to hear what they come back with!
Necrotic Nick- I like the fact I see a lot of love for Verminous in the comments here. I do love that album but for me it still has that horrible dark cloud that hangs over it for me. Trevor's death hit a lot of us really hard and I found it hard to go back to that album in particular.
I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to this one when I finished work today. Just got home, opened a beer, and it's playing on the TV right now.
@@thrallsofmetal Hey man, I most certainly did. It's hard not to end a Black Dahlia video on a sombre note, but I'm intrigued to see and hear what they do next. Nightbringers and Verminous are probably my two favourites, with Everblack chasing behind. But they're all great, really. Seeing them in the early years must have been what it was like to see Maiden at the Cart & Horses in the 70s (as my Dad and uncle constantly remind me) - Trevor was a fan just like we are.
I’ve been waiting on this ranking for a while! So excited to see you guys rank TBDM. My ranking would be: Ritual Nocturnal Unhallowed Abysmal Everblack Nightbringers Verminous Deflorate Miasma
Hey guys! TBDM Fuckin’ Rip! Nocturnal is my #1 and will always be. But I do have to correct something Jon said about the song Nocturnal. The clip at the end is actually from The Monster Squad, not The Munsters. I’ve been watching The Monster Squad since I was little, so as soon as that little clip popped up I knew I had found a fellow appreciator.
I was quite late getting into black dahlia murder, I have no idea why, they just flew under my radar abit but anyway, first time I heard them I was just blown away, I didn't know anything about the band at that time and when I first heard them the vocal changes were so fluid I actually thought they may have had 2 seperate vocalists, then when I looked into them and saw it was just Trevor I was blown away, as someone who does vocals myself, albeit not for a big band or anything just for my own music, it was just so cool that he could transition so effortlessly between vocal stylings, Trevor is one of the few death metal vocalists where I would say it takes a tremendous amount of technical ability and stamina to pull off what he did and honestly he was one of the best at what he did too, That album that got me into them was Everblack and its still my favourite by them to this day. 🤘
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, it was pretty much an instant love when I saw them live for the first time in 2005. Trevor commanded the stage and their energy was just explosive as hell. They really came in at point too where metalcore and a lot of the Gothenburg bands were getting a bit stale and added some intensity (and a ton of blasts) to the scene. I love all of their albums so this one was so damn hard to rank but it was also a ton of fun to just talk about them at length.
The Black Dahlia Murder is such an amazing melodic death metal band. Their sound feels like a continuation of that Gothenburg sound of bands like At the Gates but made even heavier. Trevor Strnad was one of the greatest death metal vocalists alongside the likes of Travis Ryan, Mikael Akerfeldt, George Fisher, and Chuck Schuldiner. He will be sorely missed. They have nothing but incredible albums so doing this ranking was hard but here’s how I’d rank them: 9. Deflorate 8. Verminous 7. Abysmal 6. Miasma 5. Everblack 4. Unhallowed 3. Nightbringers 2. Nocturnal 1. Ritual
Necrotic Nick- 100% agreed there. They brought that US blast to the Gothenburg sound and made it their own. Trevor's been a favorite of mine in terms of front men for years and will probably remain high on my list for years to come especially considering all the shows I saw. Solid list, man.
Not an easy band to rank at all. My favorite Black Dahlia Murder album is either Nightbringers or Nocturnal but none of these albums are bad. Great ranking! 🤘🤘
Great ranking episode! TBDM is my favorite band! I live in Wisconsin and made it to the Trevor tribute show..it was amazing, sad and healing at the same time!! Thx guys!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, I tried to make it out to that one but the tickets went fast as hell. I should have pounced on them as soon as they were announced.
@@thrallsofmetal Would have been awesome to meet you!! Are you coming to Milwaukee Metal Fest this year? I’ll be there with 4 other guys for the weekend.
Necrotic Nick- I'm afraid since Milwaukee Metal Fest is so close to MDF this year I don't think I'll be able to swing out to that one sadly. We're doing all 4 days of MDF though if you're going to that one.
@@thrallsofmetal We’re not going to MDF. Never been to it but it looks awesome! Milwaukee is an hour away so it’s easy, haha! Been going to MMF since 1989 🤘
Necrotic Nick- I still love that album but even despite that and seeing them on the Up From the Sewers Tour it just has such a negative memory with it being the last one with Trevor on it.
If it hasn’t been done yet, you guys definitely need to do a video about bad album artworks. Also great video I’ve never been that much of a fan of the Black Dahlia murder but after watching this video, I’ve given them a second chance and I’m really getting into them. Thank you. 🤘
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, this discography is definitely worth checking out. I did a stream on Heavy Metalurgy awhile about album art and while most of it was about good album art we had a long and hilarious section near the end about bad album art and we found some glorious turkeys to laugh at on that one lol.
This band, like many, holds a very special place in my heart. I got into TBDM going into my junior year of high school when I was getting into more extreme bands, both classic and modern, and they just happened to be one of them. Funeral Thirst was the first song I heard but the Nocturnal album is what really sold me on them. What can I say about Trevor that hasn't already been said? Dude's a legend. I've had the privilege of meeting him twice. Second time around we actually got to have a full blown conversation, complimented me on my Suffocation PFW shirt and it just took off from there. Such a great guy and a kind soul. I still can't believe he's no longer with us 😢 (RIP) 🤘 Here's my ranking as follows 1. Everblack 2.Nocturnal 3. Ritual 4. Abysmal 5. Deflorate 6. Nightbringers 7. Verminous 8. Miasma 9. Unhallowed They haven't made a single bad album but if I had to rank them there it is. Yet another awesome ranking video from the Thralls. Cheers guys! 🤘🥃
Necrotic Nick- Same here. Granted I was in my 20's I really latched on to this band's sound and just their fun nature live. I had already been digging the whole melodeath sound by the time I saw them but they brought a ferocity to that sound I hadn't heard yet and they crushed it. Trevor was such a cool dude and an amazing frontman overall. I loved that he was approachable and would chat up people just about their love of metal. I remember talking to him about Tomb Mold one of the last times I saw him and that turned into a tangent about all sorts of metal bands. I really wish I could have more of those conversations with him. Solid list, man. Yeah, this was a bitch to rank some I love all their albums. Thanks, man, and cheers to you as well!
Always heard about the Black Dahlia Murder but never got around to checking out their stuff. Maybe now would be a good time for me to dive into their discography.
Looking forward to this one. I am a bit late to the TBDM party i think mainly it was because of the vocals but have gotten past that and think their a great band. Trevor really was something special (rip) I am familiar witha few records but not all so will be interesting to see what you guys think. I love Nightbringers, Everblack and Verminous is pretty good too don't know much before that though. tbh Glad they continued on the way they did it was the only way big props to Brian for stepping into such big shows he's doing a great job. imho
Necrotic Nick- This one was fun (and admittedly a bit heartbreaking) to go over since they're practically local for us and for me became just one of my go to bands for years. I've been a fan pretty much since their start and I'm still a giant fan today. Trevor was a hell of a dude. I had so many interactions and conversations with him at shows over the years. It wasn't even at shows where he was performing. That dude hit up shows in the area all the time. He even came down to Toledo a couple of times for shows too. I'm eager to see what they do with this new one though. That's a tough hole to climb out of but I think they can do it.
@@thrallsofmetalthats so awesome you knew him personally he was like the everyman type guy. I agree Brian is doing great live but how it's gonna sound on an album will be the true test i guess. Musically they will nail it they got Ryan Knight back and him with Ellis will be sick and i am sure Brian is still writing riffs/music as well.
I didn't really get into this band until maybe 5 years ago and I agree with rin and shred. Verminous is my #1. Sadly never got to go to a show or meet trevor, rest in peace trevor. As for them putting out a new album, im all for it. Trevor probably would have wanted them to keep doing it.
I think this is the first tine we've seen Shred Lord this year? Good to see the Shred. Black Dahlia never really caught my attention but I've listened to them before. Ill dive into the rabbit hole especially since they are felliw Michigan boys
Necrotic Nick- It might be. He's pretty busy with his job and the fact he moved not too long ago so we don't see him as much as we'd like to. Yeah, definitely give this band a whirl, man. Great representation for your state as far as metal bands go.
I went and listened to a few albums and I don't know, the vocal style, delivery or whatever but I tried and I just can't dig this band. Of course Im that weird guy that doesn't dig Mastadon or Judas priest or king diamond. Keep up the great work though guys and I'm super stoked for the Meshugah ranking.
First heard of them when I saw this cover of Decibel Magazine with them being on the cover, so I checked them out. Since then, I became a huge fan of them. And I consider their first three albums as classics. Can't go wrong with this band. I cannot wait what they deliver next since Trevor Strnad's(Rest In Power, good sir) unfortunate passing.
Necrotic Nick- When I saw their pictures around Unhallowed I was pretty dismissive since I thought they looked like another metalcore act but when I heard Contagion I changed my tune. When I saw them in 2005 at Ozzfest I was a giant fan and I've stayed that way ever since. I'm eager to see what they do with this new album though. There's a lot of possibilities with both Brandon and Ryan on guitars.
I'm not sure where I'd rank every album but my top 3 is easy: 1. Nightbringers 2. Everblack 3. Ritual The video looked kinda weird btw, like stretched wide. Good job on the ranking though.
Necrotic Nick- Super consistent bands are always the trickiest to rank for me since I don't feel like that have any bad albums. I just used the standard setting on the camera for this one but I did have the camera back aways so that might be why it looks wider overall.
Necrotic Nick- Agreed. One of my favorite front men in death metal honestly just because his love for it always came out in his performance. It still stings but I'm curious about what this new album is going to sound like overall.
nice rankning of this amazing band, for me i dont think i can rank em its to hard. Also looking forward to the Meshuggah rankning that will be intresting 😸😸😸
Nocturnal at #1 for me, everything else keeps changing, it's hard to rank them. These guys are so consistent. A Revocation ranking would be crazyyyy too
Not overly familiar with the band's music, I've listened to a few of their albums and known about them for a while. I didn't dislike any of them but there's so much music out there that you sometimes find yourself not giving a band enough listens even though you probably should. But I'm really curious to hear what guys have to say and finally explore some more of their stuff😄
Necrotic Nick- Hey, there's still a ton of bands out there that have been around for awhile that I haven't checked out yet so I get it. There's so much music out there so it's easy to overlook bands. Definitely check out some of their albums though.
Can't rank them precisely, but they do fall into clear tiers for me: Tier 1: Nocturnal, Everblack, Nightbringers Tier 2: Verminous, Ritual, Unhallowed Tier 3: Miasma, Deflorate, Abysmal Been a fan since I saw Contagion on Headbanger's Ball (or maybe Uranium?; who can say, it was 20+ years ago!). Always thought people labeling them metalcore/deathcore was very strange; they've been a melodeath band from the very beginning (or maybe At the Gates is metalcore??).
Necrotic Nick- I think a lot of people just looked at them and assumed they were another metalcore band but I've always said since Unhallowed they've been a melodeath band with a lot of US death metal influence. Yeah, maybe ranking this one in tier would have been easier because of how consistent they are lol.
@@thrallsofmetal This band is so hard to rank cause all the albums are great but here's my ranking. Mostly based on how often I listen to them. 1. Ritual 2. Miasma 3. Deflorate 4. Unhallowed 5. Nocturnal 6. Verminous 7. Abysmal 8. Everblack 9. Nightbringers Don't get me wrong, Everblack and Nightbringers are GREAT, I just never listen to them for whatever reason lol
@@The_JustJoshingthat’s almost the opposite to mine 🤣🤣 but in reality, they’re a band where you could put any album at number one, and I’d be like “good pick”.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Honestly I don't clean them very often since the tend to stay in the case after I rip them to my hard drive. I do dust them every so often though with paper towels though.
Nocturnal has got to be #1. That album changed my life and has had a massive influence on me as a guitarist and songwriter. “Deathmask Divine” is one of the best songs ever written.
I never got to see them with Trevor but I am going to see the blavk dahlia murder with dying fetus in November 9th in Detroit both bands for the first time I'm fuc@#n stoked
For me a top 5 list would go like this: 1: Nightbringers - I love Brandon Ellis playing here. And The Lonely Deceased is my alltime favorite song by TBDM. 2: Nocturnal - I would say their most consistent album. There is no bad song. And it got a special place in my heart since A Horrible Night to Have a Curse was my first song heard by TBDM. 3: Abysmal - This is the most controversial pick i guess. Somehow this album is low on everyones list. But i fucking love it! Vlad can impale me any day! 😈 4: Everblack - Another just fucking great album! In hell is where she waits for me is a banger and Phantom Limb Masturbation did get alot of good suggestions in this ranking 😂 5: Ritual - Blood in the Ink. Fucking love that song. Also alot og bangers on this album. Moonlight Equilibrium 👌 RIP Trevor! Legend!
@@thrallsofmetal cheers! They are indeed! The list of all albums goes from good to great. So not really any bad albums here. Just some are better than others 😂
Awesome! Guys do you remember a video you did on a melo death band from minnesota, trying to find those guys but im blanking on theyre name, appreciate it if you guys remember which one it was!
Just a great discography. I think I may lean closer to Shreds list on this one, earliest don’t hit me as hard. 1. Ritual 2. Nocturnal 3. Nightbringers 4. Verminous 5. Everblack 6. Miasma 7. Abysmal 8. Unhallowed 9. Deflorate
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I figured this one would be all over the place in terms of how we listed them. They're a super consistent band so I really had to pick apart what I did and didn't like about the albums. Solid list, man!
Nocturnal Nightbringers The Ritual Everblack Verminous Abysmal Miasma Deflorate Unhallowed … not a bad album in their discography. Modern death metal’s cannibal corpse or Bolt Thrower.
@@thrallsofmetal keen to see your rankings!! I just re listened to all their albums today, and honestly, the top 4 I listed may as well all be number one 🤣🤘🏻
I should state that the only album I don't like is Abysmal. Deflorate is OK. Nocturnal is the clear #1 and Unhallowed is my nostalgia pick since I'm old.
Necrotic Nick- Unfortunately he wasn't available. He had something he had to go out of town for that was personal and he wanted us to go on without him. He'll be back though for Meshuggah.
I had to check my screen to make sure it wasn't set to 'Wide Zoom' cause everyone except Nick looks way wider than I remember. Maybe I need to go see an optometrist.😂
I actually like Castlevania 2! Sure, they were overly ambitious and were trying to make their own Zelda 2 and it was clunky, but over the years, the game has grown on me. As for the band, I admit I have nothing to say. I might get to them at some point. So many bands, so little time.
Necrotic Nick- I loved the first one as a kid (and now honestly) but I was so damn disappointed by Simon's Quest when I played it. The heart system, the day to night flips and just how boring it was compared to the first one. I liked Zelda 2 despite it not being a fan favorite but at least with that one the story moved a long and it was still fun to play. That's just me though. This band is definitely worth checking out though for sure.
You guys are sleeping on Deflorate and Abysmal!!! Those two are in my top 4 from them. Receipt goes hard but hits hard as well when you know what the songs about.
@@thrallsofmetal I love the tremolo riff in the chorus on A Selection Unnatural from Deflorate, was disappointed no one mentioned it 😔. tbh I didn't really get into Deflorate until semi recently so don't worry I understand

The spoken word sample at the end of Nocturnal was FromThe Monster Squad.
When is the megadeth album rank coming!!!!!!!! Best channel ever please get megadeth all albums ranked
My list would be like this:
1. Everblack
2. Nightbringers
3. Nocturnal
4. Ritual
5. Abysmal
6. Verminous
7. Miasma
8. Deflorate
9. Unhallowed
Trevor forever!!! 🤘💜

Babe wake up tralls of metal dropped another album ranking
Necrotic Nick- LOL!
I love these rankings videos, great seeing everyone's opinions. This time my ranking is closest to Shredlord, love the newer TBDM albums best.
Love this format!
Do this for Revocation!
I concurr ❤
TREVOR FOREVER!
Quite cool ranking with some very new opinions and spins on the albums, which was nice! (I can't listen to Receipt off Abysmal without shdding a tear or two)
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, this was a tough one considering I love all their albums but it was cool to see how varied our rankings came out. Trevor Forever!
thanks for the video guys! TBDM is my favorite band. I appreciate all of the effort with all of the album backgrounds and stuff.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I'm glad you dug the video.
I have never really dived into TBDM before. That being said, always knew them and Trevor. This will be fun! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Necrotic Nick- With us being so close to Detroit this band was (and still is) a staple. They toured like madmen too whether they were supporting killer bands or headlining. Trevor was a hell of dude too. I'm glad I got to chat him up several times. He was as much a fan as he was a performer.
You, guys, are the best!
Excellent ranking video guys. I won't hold that #8 ranking for Nightbringers against you, Jon lol.
My rankings:
1. Ritual
2. Nightbringers
3. Everblack
4. Nocturnal
5. Miasma
6. Verminous
7. Unhallowed
8. Deflorate
9. Abysmal
Post Trevor material is going to be an odd feeling but I welcome it!
@@thrallsofmetalI did very much and just like all your other ranking videos, I will be watching it multiple times 🤘
Finally have time to dive into this bad boy, the top half of these are really tough to rank for me, excited to see how you guys rank em.
9. Miasma
8. Abyssmal
7. Unhallowed
6. Verminous
5. Deflorate
4. Nightbringers
3. Everblack
2. Ritual
1. Nocturnal
1 nocturnal
2 ritual
3 miasma I like all there albums the black Dahlia murder and job for a cowboy were my gateway bands to really love death metal and I'm also from Michigan.
Necrotic Nick- Solid picks. I can definitely see this band and Job for a Cowboy being big gateway bands into death metal in general in the mid 2000's.
Not missing this one, taking an early lunch break to tune in🤘
Necrotic Nick- Awesome seeing you in the premiere, man!
Necrotic Nick- Well, I hope you enjoyed it, man!
My ranking would be:
Ritual
Nocturnal
Unhallowed
Abysmal
Everblack
Nightbringers
Verminous
Deflorate
Miasma
Not interested in the band per say but anything by Thralls is interesting. They might do a Blink 182 album ranking and still came out interesting.
Necrotic Nick- We appreciate that, man.
They have nothing but incredible albums so doing this ranking was hard but here’s how I’d rank them:
9. Deflorate
8. Verminous
7. Abysmal
6. Miasma
5. Everblack
4. Unhallowed
3. Nightbringers
2. Nocturnal
1. Ritual
Necrotic Nick- 100% agreed there. They brought that US blast to the Gothenburg sound and made it their own. Trevor's been a favorite of mine in terms of front men for years and will probably remain high on my list for years to come especially considering all the shows I saw. Solid list, man.
R.I.P. to the king 🤘 we miss you, Papa Trev ❤
Not an easy band to rank at all. My favorite Black Dahlia Murder album is either Nightbringers or Nocturnal but none of these albums are bad. Great ranking! 🤘🤘
I might be the only one but I always found that John Kempainen's leads were the best. Not the shreddiest but so tastefully written and catchy.
Been going to MMF since 1989 🤘
Verminous is number one for me too. It was the first time I saw them. First show after Covid. It was one of the greatest shows ever
@@thrallsofmetal ill check it out
Despite what i said before, i thoroughly enjoyed this album ranking. Got me into checking out the band.
I still can't believe he's no longer with us 😢 (RIP) 🤘
Here's my ranking as follows
1. Everblack
2.Nocturnal
3. Ritual
4. Abysmal
5. Deflorate
6. Nightbringers
7. Verminous
8. Miasma
9. Unhallowed
They haven't made a single bad album but if I had to rank them there it is.
This was a great discography ranking guys. Maybe next you can do Kreator? Either way, love the videos!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! After Meshuggah we're going to announce another batch of bands and let you guys help pick them.
Had a a lot of friends who liked punk who still had a blast at a bdm show that came to our area.
Miasma is probably my favourite. But those 3 first albums never stopped playing for a long time. The Ritual kicks ass as well.
I miss Trevor too, he was such an iconic vocalist and a master of promoting the underground. RIP.
Necrotic Nick- Same here, man. Trevor Forever!
@@thrallsofmetal It will never be the same when I listen to TBDM in the future. I just hope that Brian does a good job.
Always heard about the Black Dahlia Murder but never got around to checking out their stuff. Maybe now would be a good time for me to dive into their discography.
Necrotic Nick- It's never too late to check out their stuff.
Let’s FREAKING GO!!!
Necrotic Nick- Hope to see you in the premiere, man!
Glad to see though that Shred is still alive
I went and listened to a few albums and I don't know, the vocal style, delivery or whatever but I tried and I just can't dig this band. Of course Im that weird guy that doesn't dig Mastadon or Judas priest or king diamond. Keep up the great work though guys and I'm super stoked for the Meshugah ranking.
I listened to the first three albums and the vocals just don't do it for me. I like the riffs. Maybe I'll give it another go
First heard of them when I saw this cover of Decibel Magazine with them being on the cover, so I checked them out.
@@thrallsofmetal I wholeheartedly agree. Been a huge fan since their sophomore album "Miasma" and I've been blasting that album since 2008.
I'm not sure where I'd rank every album but my top 3 is easy:
1. Nightbringers
2. Everblack
3. Ritual
The video looked kinda weird btw, like stretched wide. Good job on the ranking though.
Necrotic Nick- Super consistent bands are always the trickiest to rank for me since I don't feel like that have any bad albums. I just used the standard setting on the camera for this one but I did have the camera back aways so that might be why it looks wider overall.
I got into this band due to a video game called Saint Row 2. "What a Horrible Night to have a Curse" was one of the songs on the metal radio station.
Necrotic Nick- I had no idea they were on that soundtrack honestly lol. That's pretty wild.
Trevor was a death metal GOAT. Bummed but also interested to see the next phase of the band.
Necrotic Nick- Agreed. One of my favorite front men in death metal honestly just because his love for it always came out in his performance. It still stings but I'm curious about what this new album is going to sound like overall.
@thrallsofmetal Honestly just a big influence on me as a person. I think he was the most important person in metal for a lot of years.
Man this is exciting, calling it now Nocturnal is at the top or close on all their lists.
Nah jamming John gonna put it at 6
@@Gravy1255🤣🤣🤣 and Rin turned 23 on each day each album was released.

4) Nightbringers
5) Miasma
6) Abysmal
7) Everblack

Not overly familiar with the band's music, I've listened to a few of their albums and known about them for a while. I didn't dislike any of them but there's so much music out there that you sometimes find yourself not giving a band enough listens even though you probably should. But I'm really curious to hear what guys have to say and finally explore some more of their stuff😄
Necrotic Nick- Hey, there's still a ton of bands out there that have been around for awhile that I haven't checked out yet so I get it. There's so much music out there so it's easy to overlook bands. Definitely check out some of their albums though.
Will do!
Hi, dudes! Have you heard about German MDM band is called Neaera? It's very similar to BDM sounding. Check them out
Can't rank them precisely, but they do fall into clear tiers for me:
Tier 1: Nocturnal, Everblack, Nightbringers
Tier 2: Verminous, Ritual, Unhallowed
Tier 3: Miasma, Deflorate, Abysmal
Been a fan since I saw Contagion on Headbanger's Ball (or maybe Uranium?; who can say, it was 20+ years ago!).
Good stuff guys 🤘
Super excited for this
Necrotic Nick- It was a fun one to do for sure. I was hyped to get a chance to talk about this band in great length.
@@thrallsofmetal This band is so hard to rank cause all the albums are great but here's my ranking. Mostly based on how often I listen to them.

5. Nocturnal

@@The_JustJoshingthat’s almost the opposite to mine 🤣🤣 but in reality, they’re a band where you could put any album at number one, and I’d be like “good pick”.
Another great video from the gang. Nick, having all those cds. Can I ask, how do you clean them?
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Honestly I don't clean them very often since the tend to stay in the case after I rip them to my hard drive. I do dust them every so often though with paper towels though.
Nocturnal has got to be #1. That album changed my life and has had a massive influence on me as a guitarist and songwriter. “Deathmask Divine” is one of the best songs ever written.
Necrotic Nick- Man, when that chorus riff hits on Deathmask Divine it's one of the heaviest moments in their entire career.
Hope to meet you guys at MDF!
Necrotic Nick- We'll be floating around the entire fest for sure. Come say hi!
I just want to say abysmal made me cry it's a beautifully painful and heavy album it's my no 1
I’ll admit I still need to dive into TBDM. R.I.P. Trevor, seems like he was really cool dude
Necrotic Nick- Never too late to take that dive, man. Trevor was a legit awesome dude. I'm glad I got to run into him on multiple occasions.
I never got to see them with Trevor but I am going to see the blavk dahlia murder with dying fetus in November 9th in Detroit both bands for the first time I'm fuc@#n stoked
For me a top 5 list would go like this:
1: Nightbringers - I love Brandon Ellis playing here.
4: Everblack - Another just fucking great album! In hell is where she waits for me is a banger and Phantom Limb Masturbation did get alot of good suggestions in this ranking 😂
5: Ritual - Blood in the Ink. Fucking love that song. Also alot og bangers on this album. Moonlight Equilibrium 👌
RIP Trevor! Legend!

@@thrallsofmetal you're welcome brother, I'll be there for the next one
Im a little late now im just really digging into.them so Far its mostly enjoyable.
Necrotic Nick- It's a killer discography
You guys are sleeping on Deflorate and Abysmal!!! Those two are in my top 4 from them. Receipt goes hard but hits hard as well when you know what the songs about.
Necrotic Nick- Oh, I love all their albums but those 2 kinda fell a bit for sure.
