Jennie- born in SKorea, stayed in New Zealand for 5 yrs
Rosé (pronounced ro-zay as in the wine, the BlackPink members have multiple nicknames for her)- born in New Zealand, grew up in Australia (so English is her first language)
Jisoo- born and raised in SKorea
Lisa- born and raised in Thailand
*for their trainee days, they all lived together in SKorea under YG Entertainment (in their early teens) to train/master their dancing,singing, rapping, etc... It's really difficult because it's like a survival show..they have monthly evaluations while training...so u can be eliminated anytime during the trainee program..they were able to survive years of this with only a slight chance of debuting..(being the last survivors doesn't always mean you will be given a chance to debut..)
*they are staying as a group..but their company will be giving them their own solos.. Jennie already has one conveniently called "SOLO" 😅😅😅 Rosé is next then Lisa then Jisoo

BLACKPINK members are just generally nice, genuine and sweet people..South Korea has VERYYY strict social standards (for beauty, perfection, etc.)..Koreans are also more conservative and reserved.. I'm not saying they're less happy in SKorea but you can definitely see that they perform more energetically and are more liberated in America (you can watch their Coachella performances and their US tour)

Yes, 3 January is Jisoo's birthday, 16 January is Jennie, 11 February is Rosè and 27 March is Lisa's birthday
Thanks DT, another great reaction!!! A few things:
1) Many of the clips where they're living together were from their reality show BLACKPINK HOUSE, in which their CEO built them a custom pink house to live in for 100 days, right in the trendy area of Seoul. They also took side trips to amusement parks, a tropical island etc. There were about 50 cameras in the house plus a film crew. They still live together in a luxury dorm near their company's building.
2) Rosé is pronounced Ro-Zay, although the other members call her Rosie as a nickname. Her real name is Roseanne Park and her Korean name is Park Chaeyoung (another nickname she has is Chaeng, short for Chaeyoung) She was born in New Zealand then moved to Australia, English is her first language.
3) Rosé is my "bias" (favorite) but Lisa is definitely special. She signed with the YG company at fourteen, then moved from Thailand to Korea alone, not speaking the language, at fifteen. No one at her company was allowed to speak to her in English so her Korean would improve quicker. The other members say that she now speaks Korean better than them. In addition to the four languages she speaks, she is now also learning Chinese so she can be a Dance Mentor on a Chinese TV talent show (like AGT or X Factor). Last year she auditioned and was accepted to Real Men 300, a TV reality show that has celebrities complete the difficult training for the elite Korean military unit called the “300 Warriors". Rosé has an Aussie accent because she lived it Melbourne for like 15 years before she came to Korea to train and perfect her singing and dancing skills. She is aussie. Also her name is pronounced as Row-sae...if that makes sense

How do you get to where they are? 1) Pass a supercompetitive audition for one of the biggest three entertainment agencies in South Korea; 2) Train for twelve hours a day, with one day off every two weeks; 3) Have a good producer making good songs.
They don’t live together any more; but they did before, in yhe company dorm. The house with all the cameras (and a lot of other clips) are from Blackpink House, a 100-day reality show.

Oh My God, finally someone said it😂😂. Her smile is so similar to her, also their teeths are so identical.
1) Rosé (stagename and English name) was born in NZ and moved to Australia when she was 8 and from Australia to Korea aged 16 - off stage she get called by Rose, Rosey, Rosé and various versions of her Korean name Chaeyoung.
2) a lot of the footage is from Blackpink House where they were filmed in a house renovated especially for that show. during the series they went on holiday to Thailand. they shared rooms in the house and paired up while in hotel rooms - so while they all do live together they normally have their own bedrooms (see ep 1 of Blackpink House)
3) there are a few good fan made documentaries (Journey and Friendship or To 888 And Beyond) which talk about the number of years each member put into training and give some insight into how Korean groups are formed and what they have to go through ...most are well worth a look.

You are right about them working hard. As trainees they did 12 to 14 hour days, 13 days straight, then 1 day off. They had monthly exams where they had to sing a solo, group and a group choreography. You can get sent home, even after years if you don't do well. After they debut the work becomes more intense. They work long days. The house you saw with all the cameras was a reality show they did.

The girls had 4-6 years of rigorous training (dance/sing/rap/diff languages/performance/confidence/mental capacity/etc.) together at their entertainment company before debuting in 2016. They work they’re asses off and deserve everything. I love them so much.

They also have Blackpink Diaries which followed their exploits on their recent world tour. After Jennie had her solo song released, they released Jennie's Solo Diaries documenting some of the behind the scenes of that production. Lisa has her own TH-cam channel Lilifilm Offical to which she uploads short films she's edited and some of her dance choreography.
