Thanks for your information, I have the same issue with my 4-year old v10 starting last month. I deep cleaned the whole thing, changed the battery and the trigger, the result are the same.
I just saw this version, OMG, that's related to the motor!! I have to buy a new one instead.

Thanks for the video Mr Chun. We bought one from Costco in January 2023 and it started doing this in the second month. Completely cleaned it but it still does it. Was hoping it was some micro switch somewhere like older models but sounds like its just cost cutting manufacturing?
Hope Costco takes it back and gives us our $400 back because I refuse to replace a motor in a brand new product even if Dyson provided the motor under warranty. Looks like our Shark Duo with the long cord comes back into service....

It is the quality of the he motor that is the problem. It seems there are a lot of defective ones out there.

I've got the same problem. I don't believe its the motor. If you cover the intake side with your hand ( so block off the air going in) it will run via a bypass valve. I haven't found the fix yet. Still trying

Any updates? The last time this happened to me I ended up changing the motor - it does come with a lot of electronics at the back so it could be a problem with any of those components in the PCB as well.

I figured it out guys, when you open up dyson to the point you see “motherboard” looking chip, there are 3 wires going to battery. There are 2 thick bottom ones and one with tiny white piece. If you don’t snap the little wire with white piece in place, you get the start/stop. I just did it and my dyson started working again.

Same issue with a V11. The four fixes I could find was
      1. buy a refurbished motor that had a 6 month warranty and replace DIY for $170.
      2. by a new body part for $399
      3. Look at marketplace for. Second hand body part or complete stick for around $500 for equivalent V11.
      4. Make contact with Dyson support services. It takes about a week of back & forth messaging ( I was getting about two sms replies from them each day) with them but if you persevere, you may be offered a reduced price or hopefully a free replacement body part, even though it’s outside of warranty.
This issue is not uncommon / inherent common fault
