@@TheSnappleFactss The Origami King came out on Switch. Basically, the first two Paper Mario games (Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door) are absolutely beloved, particularly TTYD. The series went in a new, experimental direction with Super Paper Mario, and although that game is still liked it's a little more polarizing. Then, starting with Paper Mario: Sticker Star on the 3DS up until Paper Mario: The Origami King on Switch, the series went in a radically new direction that although does have its fans, is generally considered to be inferior to the beloved first two. The Paper Mario fandom has basically spent the last decade begging for a return to form, and more specifically a rerelease of The Thousand Year Door on a modern console. The announcement of this remake is basically a dream come true.

I'm hoping a remaster of one of the original two might mean Miyamoto might be loosening his stance that the Paper Mario series would no longer be traditional RPG's.
@@AppleWoods6I almost always feel the need to correct someone who says something along these lines, but Miyamoto isn’t really the problem with modern Paper Mario. Miyamoto hasn’t even been involved with any Paper Mario game since Sticker Star, and it’s been made very clear from interviews from people such as current series Producer Kensuke Tanabe that they have had no desire to rethink how they were making these games after the fact. Miyamoto simply thought that Sticker Star wasn’t “unique” enough and since then, that’s basically the only input he’s had toward the series. And Miyamoto has gone on record saying that this way of thinking he used to have doesn’t reflect how he thinks anymore.
Either way, it’s basically Tanabe who’s been stubbornly pushing the series further and further down the path that it’s been on (up until now at least maybe!)
Obviously the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake was the best announcement this Direct for me (it’s deeply meaningful to me for a number of reasons), but the F-Zero 99 announcement and shadow-drop might be my second favorite announcement, glad to see F-Zero is back in a fun and addicting format! More info on the Princess Peach game was also great, and seeing Trace Memory/Another Code get revived as well makes me happy, since I love it whenever Nintendo revives their older, more obscure games. Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Trombone Champ, and Diddy, Funky, and Pauline in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe were also favorites of mine.

Thousand year door was a very nice surprise. Great to see so much support for first party titles and some decent indie titles late in the life of the switch. Would have liked samus over Pauline in mario kart but we can't have it all. Great direct!
I love how trombone champ is presented as the chaotic mess it is. Would be kinda wrong to have perfect footage for those songs.

@@nano-liam Yeah, honestly I beat that game first with Peach (before realizing you gotta beat it with everyone to open the secret levels) because her little flying move from SMB2 makes it way easier lol. I was referring to a game that's got her as the main character though.
I like how they sort of made her a magical girl in this game with the transformations. I’ll definitely be giving it a try.

This instantly became my favorite Direct because my favorite video game is getting remade. I seriously thought it would never happen. Thousand-Year Door is a masterpiece. Thank you Nintendo!

Seeing F-Zero only to be a "99" game was soul crushing. If that leads to a new F-Zero game in the future I wouldn't be mad.

I'm betting if the game gets big enough they'll make another, much larger game.
I screamed and then almost cried when I saw the 99 title, then I accepted what we were getting and realised how perfect it is have an F Zero Race with a proper big grid of racers.

Seeing Super Mario RPG having post-game boss rematches makes me hopeful for the same inclusion in TTYD. Additional post-game content for TTYD would be even more unbelievable as TTYD getting a remaster.

Bro a Luigi DLC for his own adventure would be sick! I don’t buy DLC, but as long as the length of the DLC (and its game play to be equally as fun as the main story) matches the price, you’ve got my money heck if they catch me in a good mood, I’ll end up paying a little more than what I would have wanted for that DLC if I can afford it.

Best parts of this Direct "Tomb Raider Remastered" announced for PS5 aswell as it should be and Wartales coming as a timed console launch, which means its definitely going mutliplat at some point, watched someone stream it on PC and it looks great.
I'm very excited for Super Crazy Rhythm Castle - me and my friends can't wait to play it!

TTYD remake gave me chills, so nostalgic. Will never forget picking it up as a kid because I thought the box art was cool and getting completely absorbed in its world. One of the best GC titles hands down

Cant wait for Tomb Raider, my favorite games ever.
I've realized that I'm less of a F-Zero fan and more of just a Captain Falcon fan since when its JUST the racing its not enough for me personally but since most F-Zero fans who are streamers are either super excited or say its good for the series. Its nice to see it getting something but my only experience 'playing F-Zero' was playing as Falcon in Smash Bros.
The fact that TTYD is getting acknowledged at all after all these years gives me hope for the series. The remake looks amazing!
It would be really cool if they went to how it was before super paper mario, full of fun characters and especially the badges, it's a shame they got rid of badges and then they even tried replacing all the combat with stickers in sticker star, which maybe wouldn't have been so bad if there was like a default move or something and all the characters weren't toads

Just seeing Nintendo even REMEMBERING F-Zero after *DECADES* is a joy to see. Also it's cool that the multiplayer F-Zero concept that became the original Super Mario Kart came into fruition!

Maybe if enough people buy the TTYD remake, they'll realize that THAT is what we want in a Paper Mario game, and do something more like that for their next sequel.
Also, the updated music sounds great. The transition into the battle music, in particular, was super nice

Eh, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, kinda seems like a simple mobile game, which could be fun don't get me wrong, but it does not belong in "masterpiece" tier with games like Mario Galaxy, Tears of the Kingdom, or Hollow Knight.
@dojangofficial1050 I don't even remember if I played the one on Gameboy Advance. Seems a bit different then what I vaguely remember but I think there was something like it on either GameBoy or Gameboy Color. Either way it looks like something I will definitely will be playing.

I think the splatoon DLC looks cool, especially because the ability upgrades are literally plastic Pantone chips that you're putting in a book, I think that's rad.

TTYD is one of the few games I think that manages to live up to the near impossible levels of hype around it. The game has so much imagination and creativity within its runtime that even thinking about its best moments is almost enough to get me emotional. The game just has that sort of power. Looking forward to the remake not just so us old fans can revisit it but so a new generation can experience its magic firsthand. For anyone who hasn't played it yet, even if you hate RPGs like I do, please don't pass this one up.

@@southernmercy5962 For a good reason too! It is one of those games that I've returned to play years later. The game is so charming, yet interesting and entertaining too. Super mario rpg, paper mario and paper mario ttyd are all great, I highly recommend them even in their original form to this day.
The funniest part to me is that the peach/computer scene is one of the most memorable/popular clips from the Game Grumps playthrough of TTYD. that reveal and line specifically are in almost every clip. They're pointing out the familiar internet funny to the people who are most likely to buy it but without being all 'hello fellow youths' about it and that pleases me

The Super Crazy Rhythm Castle announcement was such a surprise EXCLUSIVELY because it’s basically the first time Konami has acknowledged beatmania in the west since the 2006 PS2 US game. That makes me… hopeful.

As cool as Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door getting a remaster is, I wish Nintendo would do the same for the original N64 Paper Mario. That game holds a special place in my heart. Though I couldn't tell any difference in graphics from what I remember about TTYD. The only thing I noticed is different (or, redone) is the music.
I will say the same for Mario vs. Donkey Kong that Donkey Kong 94 for the gameboy needs a remaster as well.
I AM SO SAD I SLEPT THROUGH THIS DIRECT! I would of FLIPPED OUT in real time seeing the Thousand-Year Door. I've already dissected the trailer frame by frame by now lol. It's so beautiful.

Trace Memory / Another Code is one of the... like... 8 DS games I own. I played it when it launched, loved it and promptly forgot close to everything about it. Really wanted to replay it, even. Great to see it remade. Also nice to see it bundled with a sequel, as one of the things I do remember about the game is it being relatively short.
Only DS game I still own. I had to import the sequel since it was Europe only. The devs went out of business like a decade ago so this is an unexpected treat

Thank you for enhancing and re-releasing Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door! It is one of my all time favorite games! I hope this eventually leads to another Paper Mario rpg in the same gameplay style someday!

Finally a Mario vs DK port from the GBA!!
They needed a miracle to equal the previous Direct, and they delivered with Funky Kong, Pauline, Diddy Kong, Wii Daisy Circuit, AND TTYD
When I first moved in with my (now) wife, it was Paper Mario TTYD that I played in the evenings while she watched. It was the game that introduced her to Nintendo and Mario and she is now a massive Nintendo fan, along with our kids. The remaster looks amazing and we are thrilled to see it again (and it saves me from having to plug in my old GCN just to play it again). The Rogueport theme is now in my head

Princess Peach won this direct. This is the best she's ever been. I want all of these outfits to become cannon to Mario universe. This gives some depth to our princess

I know this sounds crazy but I'm mostly hyped for another code recollection, I bought the Wii game only at the start of this year after realising there was a sequel to the DS game and the series was completely forgotten so whoever brought this back is AWESOME, Ashley and her story is brilliant!
I'm so happy to see more fans of this series. Its one of my favourite nichr games!! I played them in order but I was aware when the wii version released and was thinking this will be the last one for sure. I'm so happy I'm wrong!!

@@miunya hello fellow fan! This remaster brings us out of the woodwork haha. Remember the struggles of the ds game and some of the point and click features not making sense or not knowing what to do with the DAS sometimes, hopefully that will all be cleared up in the remaster though so people can 100% for real lol

A word of advice if you are like to import japanese games, check out the Japanese version of this direct, it will have some japan exclusive games. There always will be at the japanese version of DIrect

The updated graphics in TTYD look realllly nice. That reflection across the wooden floor? On a switch too is pretty mind-blowing
I thought Hooktail's lair looked breathtaking. I always thought it was a bit to dark on the GameCube version. But here it looks incredible with the light shining through cracks in the wall!
I just hope it runs on a smooth 60fps like the original. This will mark 20 years since the original and it's looking amazing. They don't need to change anything else at all either. The game is big enough, fun enough, challenging to a point, that it's a fine release all on it's own.
@@Jack_TheSkyWriter Kind of like how Metroid Prime Remastered was. Nothing was really changed and nothing needed to be changed. It just needed to be updated visually. Speaking of, with all these remakes and remasters, we need Prime 2 Echoes Remastered next. Just like TTYD, 2024 will be Prime 2's 20th anniversary as well! Fun fact, got both games for Christmas 2004. That was a good Christmas morning that year!
