I remember in 87 hearing Rock Soldiers on a late night metal show on the radio. Song was pretty good but definitely loved the “Ace is back and I told you so.” Line. Also the Devil playing without an Ace in his deck. 1. Rock Soldiers- 7 2. Breakout- 6 3. Into The Night- 8 4. Something Moved- 5 5. We Got Your Rock- 6 6. Love Me Right- 6 7. Calling To You- 7 8. Dolls- 5 9. Stranger In A Strange Land- 6 10. Fractured Too- 6 Total= 6.2
I wonder at the time if they thought Rock Soldiers was the best song on the album and was afraid if it was the first single no one would buy the album. I saw Ace in June of 87 at a theater in Columbus Ohio called the Newport music hall. He did a record signing before the show at a place called buzzard records and tapes. I still have all the photos from that event and ticket stub. I love the album and remember the magic when it first came out. Great memories.
On Second Sighting you mentioned the art with the feet in opposite directions...those belong to Kermit himself - Eddie Trunk haha😅 Also, 'Bronze' was the label from the UK that ended up backing off. They were famous for having Motörhead on the label for many years
Thank God for Tod. Thought Into the Night was going to be a hit single when it came out. I wish Rock or be Rocked and I Got the Touch would have made the record. I have no doubt that Tod could have contributed a few more great songs.
I bought this album along with live plus 1 back when they came out plus the DVD live plus 4.....I'm 56 now but was never a huge admirer of this album....I agree with your ratings.. ..
C'mon tour giving Eddie waaaaay too much credit for "signing" ace. Even your partner says by virtue of ace coming from a huge band/brand it still would've been more successful than taking a chance on a new artist.
Me and my friend saw frehleys comet live in 1987 in oakland.they were an opening act for criminal y&t.
I love the song Dolls! This is not a joke. It's so Ace, Curly.
I met the whole Ace Frehley band in 90.....John Reagan was a super nice guy.....absolutely no ego....Ace looked like he was hung over.....
Mike, one thing that I LOVED about this album back in the day is the stuff between Rock Soldiers and Breakout the little sound effect stuff
The best Ace vocals on a song I'd say is what's on your mind.....
R.I.P. John Regan, one of the best guys ever!

I had the 12 inch into the night single before album. Was on my Walkman all 87. Love the whole album.

There was some great songs on the bootleg demos that didn't make it on the album.
100% agree!!
AF probably had his most creative phase as a musician and songwriter between 1977 and 1981.
I enjoyed this one wasn't a big fan of breakout but fractured too I love that instrumental 🤟

Ace wanted to make the change and Eddie and Jon Z said ok.
Spot on about Ace being irresponsible. Second Sighting and so much more is proof.
Or VHS I mean not dvd.....live plus 4....
What is stranger in a strange land about?....
Eating pussy
