I remember it being shown on BBC2 - I think it was under the Moviedrome season. From memory they showed a few good films around then. Rather than a remake why not just re-show the original? A lot of remakes are quite dreadful - used as a means to make money rather than adding to the original film. Why not show it under the guise of a cult 1970's film night or something similar!!
John Pearce If it was to be remade, I'm certain it would become a buddy/comedy effort, probably with someone like Owen Wilson in it, and probably a lot like the CHiPS movie.
