    Great video Ian! Really solid points. Will have to change some settings now, like ES Front curtain. Another one that I like to map to a function button, is eye detect on/off. I don’t always shoot street or people but when I do, it is nice to quickly switch between the modes.

    Nice one Ian! I missed the Front Curtain setting so thanks for that! 👍🙂 The weather never changes in your videos. Except sometimes it's not raining, LOL! We're having Arctic conditions today. I need to go out, but for some reason I'm just sitting here...

      Thanks Edward. It's worth a try. Yeah get wrapped up and take it on mate 👍👍 I've got fog on the forecast for tomorrow, so fingers crossed 😁👍👍

    A really useful video Ian.
    And there I was thinking I’d covered every shortcut already, and you find a few more. But thanks for a few more. And they are transferable to new cameras 👏👏👏
    And I’d be pleased for more videos along the lines of this one.

    Great tips Ian. I have been using the Electronic front curtain setting for a while but have found that I have had banding in the shadows. I shoot Sony A7R3. I have since moved back to mechinical shutter and haven't seen it. Keep up the great videos Ian...

    I'm new to your channel, Ian. Even though I've been taking photographs for many years with a series of cameras, this video has shown me a number of things I was unaware of. And having recently acquired a Fuji camera, I've altered several settings following your advice. Clear and concise information, which is just what I'm looking for. Many thanks.

    Some great tips Ian. In addition to your natural live view tip, I also set a swipe function to see the RGB histogram instead of the regular histogram. Then you can more easily see if you are clipping highlights in a certain color channel. Useful for the Expose to the right technique.

      Keeping an eye on the RGB Histo is especially useful for Fall and Flower photography where both of these situations lend themselves to easily blowing out the RED channel.

    Hi Ian. Watching lots of your video's and all really good, thank you. Just wondered if there are any disadvantages to setting the shutter to electronic front curtain?

    First think you so much, because with this video you help me so much with the camera settings. But the only thing I want to know is how can I zoom in when I want it better in focus. Because with canon it was easy, but now I've switch to the fujifilm x-S10 and after a year i'm still trying to figure it out. I hope you understand what I'm meaning, because english not my native language

    Nice, information worth pondering, I am curious though, instead of front curtain electronic why not just use electronic shutter?

    Thank you Ian, for another very useful video. Quick question, though. Why did you buy the X-H2? I understood that it's primary purpose was as a hybrid camera and that the X-T5 was built for stills.

    • @ian_worth
      @ian_worth  ปีที่แล้ว

      I went for the x-h2 because I shoot as much video as I do stills and the xh2 has cf express card slot and internal pro res video recording which is essential for me when shooting video for clients. previously I had to run my video through an Atomos recorder to get pro res. Now i can do it in camera which is a big help 👍 If I was just shooting stills, it would be the x-t5 every day of the week 👍👍

    Just been fiddling with a few of the settings you suggested. Electronic front curtain is interesting. I’ve gone for the EF + mechanical (for shots over 1/2000) and will see how that goes. One question re EF curtain - where there’s movement (eg waterfall with slow shutter speed) do you revert back to Mechanical to avoid that strange ‘bendy/wavy’ image result from movement and an electronic shutter?

    • @ian_worth
      @ian_worth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an interesting one, I haven't noticed anything unusual yet with the images that I have taken with the xh2 and ive shot both waterfalls and seascapes over the last month or so. That being said, its definitely something that should be considered. I hear EFC isn't great for shooting fast moving subjects such as sports. 👍
