    This is something I had seen when it you actually put the video up. Now that I’m doing junk journals, I can see where these would be so fun to use. I found several on EBay for much cheaper that Amazon Prime if anyone is interested. Also if you lightly dust the molds with cornstarch prior to filling the molds and after it dries, it will make the removing the project from the molds way easier. Just a little FYI.

    I've been doing the caulk molds for a few years and I love them. I've used a couple of the longer lacey molds to wrap around candles and bottles I've crafter. I also use the tiny doily-like molds in my miniature displays. They are fun and I use the cheapy, floppy ones all the time, but I have pretty good luck with them. I take them out extremely slowly in tiny bits at a time. Yep, it's time consuming, but the results are wonderful. Thank you and I love your tutorials.

      Good to hear that the cheap floppy molds will work as long as you’re careful. I like the technique demonstrated by Heather in her channel called “Heather Tracy”. She removes just the beginning edge then places the mold upside down on a surface and peels the mold back super slowly, carefully easing the small detailed pieces out as she goes. I found her videos VERY helpful!

    TFS a brilliant idea with us, you are just so creative. Just a thought, when I do resin in my molds I use a release agent with it and the resin does come clean off. Maybe that would help with the ripping of the more delicate pieces.

    Hi Stacy! I am so happy that I found this! I have been ordering these molds online (because I wanted to make clay embellies for scrapbooks and mixed media) and NEVER thought of caulk! These are going to be great for canvas pieces because they are so lightweight! I can't wait to get some caulk and get started. Also, on another note--I just love your tattoo! So much better than the ring that I always forget to put back on after I'm working with messy stuff!

    I’ve got a kind of floppy lace mold that I’ve been trying to use with paperclay, so far the same damn thing keeps happening. It tears it rips but I can’t afford those nice big molds. I need a neighbor that likes the same stuff I like so we could share. All my neighbors are in their 80’s tho so I’m screwed, I guess. At least now I know it’s not me, it’s the cheap ass molds! Thanks, honey!! ❤️💙💜. You’re came out great!

      +amanda evon Thanks! And this works best for the delicate cake making molds... if you plan on using deeper molds...you are probably better off using clay only because the dry time is so much faster and the detail on clay will be better than with the calking.

    If you have a Hobby Lobby nearby they have quite a bit of silicone lace molds they have the round ones the doily lace ones and the long lace ones and the molds are pink but they are very very sturdy they're not flimsy of floppy like the ones you described in your video they are by a company called Sunny side up bakery and every other week they are 50% off right now they are 50% off I just bought several of them and they are quite inexpensive they run anywhere from $2.99 all the way up to $7.99 and when they run them 50% off for that whole week you can get them half price.

    Have you tried to spray dry shampoo into the mould before putting the caulk in it to see if it is easier to get out? I think I might have to try it. I used it to spray pages in a book I got on internet that smelled like smoke and it took most of the heavy scent out of the book. The powder might help with the sticking. We'll see. Let me know if you try this, that is if you are still doing these moulds. This is an old vid.

  • @kcdesigns3740
    @kcdesigns3740 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think the "wings" are sideways butterflies. you can layer them on top of each other and make it look like it has two wings, but just looking at it because of the swirls, which to me look like antennas, (even if they are wings) it looks from here like you could still make it a butterfly. I need some doily molds now. lol I have used spackling but it takes forever to dry.

    • @PinkPoodleCrafts
      @PinkPoodleCrafts  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Take The Cake Diaper Designs I think your right, they are probably meant to be sideways... I dont know but it would have made more sense to have one going in the opposite direction lol Spackling would dry very hard and brittle though, I do know that. Spackling would work for the deeper molds without a lot of delicate detail. Like the flowers and such :)

    • @kcdesigns3740
      @kcdesigns3740 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spackling I used dried like a sponge. Lol and took about three days for a mod podge mold which wasn't too deep. I got the quick dry one too! I was trying to find something other than the mod melts and clay to use. It also doesn't pick up the detail great and when it's completely dry if taken out before hand starts to curl. I'll try it with this though, I have a whole tube I just took out of the gun to use 100% silicone for a handmade mold. What else is there....😁?

    • @PinkPoodleCrafts
      @PinkPoodleCrafts  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      dont use 100% silicone in a silicone mold... you will never get that out and your mold will be ruined! make sure its acrylic latex PLUS silicone... so its not just pure silicone :)

      Hello,you can either make the moulds yourself or I know on Ebay UK they sell stuff like that for people who do cake decorations.I was just thinking what beautiful stencils they would make,in fact they could be used on many surfaces,lovely use for an rather ordinary product.Is this what we call 'bathroom sealer'she says cork or caulk? different terms to us ?

    Have you tried it with glue? Like regular Elmers School Glue? I'm curious if it would work also.

      +Jeannine's Craft Room Ive not tried that... not sure it would work but if you try it, please let me know your result, Im curious!

      +Pink Poodle Crafts I don't have any decorative silicone molds. The only ones I own are for resin casting and are not detailed. I guess I could pour a thin layer of glue in them to see how it would dry and if it'd stay pliable.

      +Pink Poodle Crafts I'm really curious how it'd turn out and how it would do with colorants. I'm excited!!

      dryer colorants work better... paint is to touchy... so stick too gelatos, chalk pastels, mica powders, etc, they will work better!

    I ended up getting a flimsy pink one too,,,, however, it came out fine. I used the whole doily AND cut off the top part and had a smaller one too, so it's all good. FYI, there are a bunch of molds on geek.com for CHEAP. I'm ordering next month, so will let you know how it works out.
    Haven't seen any new videos, did you get your house sold? Just wondering if you're ok.

    you never know intent of a designer - maybe the super flimsy mold is meant to have the center piece *placed* with the rest? IDK
    OH - and in what way were the purple wings not as good? still wet b/c of the paint making the mix not harden? cuz from here they LOOK fine. :/ JMO
