How to make an Indian Taco-EASY

  • Indian taco recipe:
    Fry bread:
    2-cups AP flour
    1-TBS baking powder
    1-tsp salt
    1-TBS sugar
    1-TBS vegetable oil
    1-cup warm water about 100 degrees
    About one and a half cups lard to ten inch skillet heated to around 300-350 for frying bread
    Mix dry ingredients. Add vegetable oil to one cup warm water and add to dry ingredients, mix until all incorporated. Pour out dough onto floured surface and mix until you have a workable dough, not sticky. Cover in bowl with a dish towel and let rest for 30 minutes.
    Remove dough to floured surface and cut into 4-6 pieces. Flatten out to to fit in 10 inch skillet. Heat lard to around 300-350. Carefully place flattened dough in hot oil and brown on both sides, approximately two and a half minutes per side. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.
    Meat mixture:
    Two pounds 80/20 hamburger meat
    1/2-cup chopped onion
    1-tsp black pepper
    1-15 oz can ranch beans
    1/4- cup taco seasoning
    1/2- cup water
    On medium heat add meat to a skillet and break apart, cook until brown, then drain. Add onion, pepper and ranch beans. Add water to taco seasoning, mix and add to meat. Cook about five minutes more and remove from heat.
    Toppings:
    Shredded lettuce
    Diced tomatoes
    Shredded cheese of your choice
    Sour cream
    Salsas of your choice
    Assembly:
    Fry bread
    Meat
    Toppings
