- It's Kay and Gogo and we are travelling in Morocco. Marrakech Morocco has some of the best street food you will have and local Breakfast was a chance for us to taste lots. We started with bean soup then drank a yoghurt style drink. We then had beans with stomach and then breads/ pancakes with butter and Honey. We then had a very famous eggs with cured beef and finished with the most delicious deep fried Doughnut.

I don't know why some lie to sell: Sfenj to tourists like Donut and some also sell: Benis like Donut to tourists.
What you have eaten is called: Sfenj that does not have any sugar and has centuries of tradition in Moroccan food and is eaten with tea at breakfasts or as snacks.
The Benis are eaten more on the beaches and have the shape of a large donut and some have the shape of a small round bread and if you wonder if the Moroccan Donut exists!!? then yeah, it exists but it´s small, they eat it more at parties and it has a lot of presence in the Moroccan pastry shop.

The first soup is called BISSARA. Made of boiled fava beans, garlic and olive oil. Cumin, salt, chilli powder and extra olive oil for presentation (optional). The milk beverage you had is called LBEN (buttermilk). PS : I doubt that the Moroccans copied the othomans because Morocco was never colonized but them 😅😅. The white beans are called loubia and the meat that came with it is stomach lining thats slow cooked with a bunch of spices. The meat that came with the omelette is called khliaa (ع sound) it is beef that has been seasoned and sundried, then cooked in olive oil and fat. It's then preserved in all that delicious fat it's been cooking in. These type of donuts are called sfenje, made out of fried runny sourdough.(you're pretty spot on 😉) . They don't take sugar. The beignets do come either dusted with sugar or filled with Nutella or some kind of jam.

Moroccan local Hammam is the best experience I had one in fes. Gogo has tried it in Turkey as its the same but I agree he needs to try the experience in Morocco also.

There are two main kinds of traditional donuts in Morocco, the kind you tested, that should be taken without sugar, and the second kind is a bit thinner but bigger diameter, that one takes sugar.
Thank you so much we met a man in the donut place and he told us this too. We had them in Essaouira I think maybe the ones you say should have sugar. We did really enjoy and hope to find with eggs 💞
@@KayandGogo If you have asked in the same place for flatten donuts with eggs, I think the would have made ones for you, these too can have more special taste if taken with mint tea, enjoy your stay, you're more than welcome. Just another detail, donuts are less oily when cooking oil temperature is higher.
I think we didn't explain due to our bad French 😕 next time I will take a photo 😀 we absolutely love the Moroccan mint tea it's the most delicious 💞
@@KayandGogo Next time you can ask for "SFANJ" which is donut, "BAYD" which is egg, the whole syntax in arabic is "SFANJ BAL BAYD" and for tea you can ask for "ATAY" ☺

buttermilk
Buttermilk is the liquid that remains when fat has been removed from cream when butter is being made. You can drink buttermilk or use it in cooking. But in Arabic world or in some others hot areas, butter is removed directly from fermented milk. The remainder is buttermilk. It's too quite different process.

@@KayandGogoyea that wasn't ayran. It was Lben. The closest thing to it in europe is buttermilk. It's made by churning sour milk untill the butter is separated.

37 Minutes on just breakfast, you could have recorded clips of a whole day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and leisure. that would be more of a fun watch (just my opinion)
We made many videos on lunch dinner and sightseeing haha 😄 to be honest we could of made it 3 hours haha so much to eat for breakfast 😄 💓

Hey guys ..I didn’t even see it …but that’s a total defeat thing !..what u guys had in this video calls (asfange) .we have it for breakfast with tea ..the other o e u guys talking about (with the sugar.that must be ( khringo) ..it’s was smaller in size ..even all of it is actually deep fried thing ..but the (khringo) .is manly served as a snack for the kids .u would never see it in the morning..it’s always available afternoon,when the kids finish their school .around 4 pm ..and that one have sugar on top for sure
