Hey, love the content so far. Not sure if you mentioned it, but where in SK do you live? I would also like to go someday, but still deciding on which city I like more. How's your experience been so far, with adjusting living over there ?
Hey! I’m glad you love the content! ☺️ I live in the Gyeongsangnam-do Province (Gyeongnam) in a medium’ish city with great sceneries and a beach nearby. I didn’t choose my province myself nor did I know much about it, I was flexible with the placement. I’m loving every bit of it there’s always a hidden gem to explore somewhere and I love the fact that I don’t need to use the bus as such because apart from it giving me anxiety most places are walking distance.
Hi Reba. I enjoy your content, it is very informative. Did you study education? Was it your first time teaching when you got the job in SK? How is it so far? Which phase do you teach? How was your first day teaching in SK compared to SA learners (that's if you were a teacher in SA). Any culture shocks? Is SK how you thought it would be coming from SA?
Hi Azukiwe! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my content. No, I didn’t study education. I studied Financial Accounting and before I came here I was in the banking industry. So you basically need a degree and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate to be able to teach but if you have an Education degree than that’s better and you don’t need a TEFL Certificate. I’ve never taught in South Africa but I’ve taught online with two companies; EF South Africa-I taught adults from all over the world mainly China & Brazil-I taught there for 2 years. I also taught with EF Wuhan-China but online as well, I taught the kids for about 7 months before they went offline-the kids ages ranged between 3-7 years of age. I currently teach elementary students, Grade 4-6. My first day of teaching was bittersweet, I was quite nervous but the students welcomed me so well. So surreal hey. And so far, it’s all sorts of amazing, I’m enjoying every moment and everyday is a teachable day for me as well. I’ve experienced so many culture shocks but I’ll do a separate video on this soon! SK isn’t what I thought it’d be, it’s definitely better than what we see online-that’s for my experience that is so far. I hope I answered all your questions! ☺️😊
Hi, Reba. Can i ask? Did you choose the late intake or they put you there because i saw on your vlog you said your pcc hadn't arrived? Im going through the same thing and i have been accepted for the fall intake. Im losing my mind 😅😅
Hi Tlhalefo. I choose flexible in terms of when I’d like to come hence I was able to come during the late intake. I think there are other people who chose main intake but documents got delayed and they were able to come during the late intake. I think it’s best to speak to your coordinator or agent if you applied with an agency.
Hey Zekhethelo, I had mixed feelings during my first class. When I started I was scared and very nervous but quite confident at the same time if that makes sense. I wasn’t sure how the students would receive me but it was a good class overall. I had to do an intro presentation of myself then start with the actual lesson.
I wanted to ask in terms of the 2 recommendation letters. Do you know if they accept them if they're both from same company different supervisors in different Business Units. I sent them an email and they haven't replied.
Get better girl. So proud of you. Thanks for taking us with you. Praying for your safety ❤
