I'm ashamed I just now discovered this band because TOOL announced them as their opener for their upcoming North American tour. I'm now more excited about seeing Elder than TOOL in January....
The only time I saw Elder was in early 2015 on the Lore tour in Chicago. I only knew Dead Roots but I loved that album. I don't remember what songs they played but I remember Nick introducing Spirit At Aphelion and Legend. I actually met Nick and Jack outside the venue before the show. I'm not from Chicago, I'm from the UP of MI. I remember my friend telling Nick I drove like 8 hours to see them and Nick was just like "thank you." lol That show seems like a lifetime ago. They were a three piece then... the original lineup. I would love to see them again. I feel like they've evolved and possibly gotten better despite the fact they've always been damn near perfect. Dead Roots remains my favorite but every album they've put out has been superb! I also love Delving, Nick's solo project. This band is killer and I doubt they will ever fall from grace. Their vision and their integrity won't allow it. Whether they make ten more albums or none, they have already carved out a substantial place in the realms of rock/metal/prog... They are undisputed heavyweight kings of music. Whether I ever see them or not again, I'm so glad I can say that I did. This is one of the top acts of our time.
Las Vegas w/ Tool will be my 10th Elder show going back to 2015. This set is nearly identical to Seattle last May except Compendium in place of Sanctuary. These guys are the best!
Don’t think there’d be a more fun band to play in. The music is a musician’s wet dream. The melodies, the grooves, the riffs, the layers and wall of sound. Just bliss.
To be fair this recording doesn't do them justice here. Saw them a few days ago and I felt like I was being engulfed in fuzz it was one of the best shows i've been too. My ears are still ringing from how loud those cranked hiwatt's were.
This is such a killer set list.

I'm lucky enough to have been following these dudes since 2011, but better late than never man! enjoy.
@@BunzJackson I agree! They're so good!

Is there an award for writing some of the most inventive, emotional and heavy music cos these mfs win EVERY TIME!! roll on November!
It's like these guys were a bunch of 'serious' composers who woke up one day and said, "Fuck the violins, let's ROCK OUT!!"
