We trust that you will appreciate this little piece of the behind the scenes of our creative editing as we do our best to make entertaining, educational and inspiring content for you. As I stated, most of the videos on this channel are shot on the same day all the way through but once in a while I'll use B roll from other days and other places to help bring a story together or to make and otherwise bland story more interesting. In the end we just want to bring you the best possible content.
At the lift job in the beginning of this video we initially thought the hive was in the soffit beside the chimney but it ended up be inside the wall just below the soffit. Access to the hive was incredibly difficult and there was just no good way to video record that job. The two jobs in this video had absolutely nothing in common but I needed video of us welcoming you back to the 628 Dirt Rooster channel where hobby beekeeping is a way of life. I had our intro in that lift job footage that I would otherwise never use so I decided to use it here.
The building we removed the hive from was a class room behind Jacob's Well Baptist Church in Pass Cristian, MS. They turned that building into a thrift store and food pantry I believe. We did find a good amount of capped honey in that hive. We harvested it all and gave it to the church staff. We put the floor back together and sealed everything up so they wouldn't catch another swarm.

I stopped planting my garden about three years ago because my cucumber blooms were being properly pollenated because of a lack of honeybees in my area of SW Missouri. After watching your older videos about open feeding, I saw a honeybee on a dried out honeysuckle plant by my shop door. I must have a feral colony somewhere close and after the dry season we have had here, for the last 3 months, I know they don't have the stores to make it thru our winter. I have been feeding them up ever since, they must be close, it doesn't take 5 minutes for them to completely cover the feeders! I'm going to continue with what I'm doing till it gets too cold, we hit record lows for this time of the year two nights in a row a few days ago in the 20's then got right back up into the 80's today. I plan on feeding as long as possible then setting up a swarm trap next spring since they now like my feeding area. Wish me luck!

It's always great to have your vids on Fridays. When both you and Jeff post the same day It's like getting a shot of B-12. Loved the banter between you and Pete as you pulled that plywood off. Nice photography. Good laughs.

It’s always easy videos to watch and I’m learning about bees at the same time as I’m being entertained. And I do love the artistic footage at the end of each video.
I feel so much better now that I've gotten it off my chest.
I think anyone who loves the channel feels the same way.
I always love a great story - and you tell them. So long as it's not a documentary, no harm, no foul - the bees are happy and I love it! Your pictures and video at the end are still some of the best I've seen anywhere. No joke: you need to put together a series for a gallery. Hugs from Florida!

I found that mirror on the beach. Not sure who decided they needed their rear view mirror at the beach but it worked for an interesting shot.
I watch a lot of videos that have lots of content but fail to tell a story. It is hard to stay awake during those. Keep showing interesting videos.

@@628DirtRooster I saw his reply, believe me I would love to see every one of them! Bee activity in my area has been next to non-existent for close to 3 years now. I saw one bee about a week ago and started using your medium sized rock feeder idea. I've been feeding them up on multiple feeders ever since. Must be a feral colony very close with how fast they react to my refilling the feeders. I'm setting out at least two swarm traps this coming spring and getting into bees like I should have back in '99. We've been basically bone dry in my area of SW Missouri since July, the lawn has only been cut twice during that time! I'm going to feed them up as much as they will take till the winter sets in and hope they survive!

He just put one of our iron on patches on a cheap mosquito net hat. I used to order those hats forty at a time until Covid and then they disappeared from the market except you could buy one at a time. I haven't looked for them lately.

I watched a bee hive removal last night with 2 men and 1 woman. They were supposed to be Africanized bees, but they were gentle bees. They got soooo much honey! They didn't have a vacuum.

Weather getting warm here, getting the bug . put out swarm traps and built a new bee vac with shorter hose and will run of my 20 v dewalt vac and electric vac so I will see what happens this year. The hive under the house LOOKED like fairly calm bees.

Doing Hurricane Relief work in Fort Myers. I have seen so many hives that were in water meters that drowned out.
This destruction is bad, people out of homes, bees out of homes and possums and raccoons are homeless.( they scurry out of the debris piles we pick up.) This storm was bad.

Finally got the opportunity (and now I'm stupid enough LOL) to attempt my first cut out , 2 hives from same house. Different sides. 6 ft heat sign on top floor,and down 2 1/2 ft on bottom floor. The other side of house I don't know the size of hive. Told they were in wall at least 4 years . This could be an interesting Education for my friend and I. Temps in the 40's. I'm Hoping rain is over by then.
Make a frame with Sched40(cheap) PVC as wide as the liftcage about 7ft high and on both sides . Paper it with Bublewrap foil Insulation , shiny side out . Hang a couple of Batt-op Fans and you are good to go . You can dismantle this easily for multiple uses .

Honeybees just like to use their version of "shock and awe", don't they? More shock than awe when you have worked with them many years. I have worked with wasps, mostly. But they do pollinate my fruit trees rather well.

Hay I was watching a video on a channel. Al blades. The man does a free lawn service for people who can't do it themselves or just clean up a place it help make the area look nicer. He records it and puts it on you tube. We'll his last video he was doing a yard and came up against an angery swarm of yellow jackets. For the first time ever he had to give up on helpin this lady. Maybe you guys can do a collaboration. I know it would be a trip. But your the man I thought of that would be willing to do it. Or even if you know someone in the Florida area that would be willing to help him out .
That would definitely be something I would do if I hadn't just gotten back from Oklahoma and am now getting ready for Tennessee. What part of Florida?
