Always a joy seeing the greening of the desert. If everyone did a little more than plant, water and nurture a plot of land, the 'lungs of the world' will expand for the world to breath.
When a project belongs to someone else, as in a funded program such as this, local people have limited interest, it seems. Centuries of tradition are hard to break. It saddens me that when the project funding was over, things went to pot, in terms of being taken care of by locals who could see the vision of turning their land into a wonderful, productive area. I have seen other videos where the locals were very much engaged, and the success of these projects had a better outcome. The motivation of some cultures seems low, when it comes to learning new ways of doing things, and it must be frustrating for the teachers of these systems sometimes, when the support leaves. But it's nice to know that once these systems are established, they become self sufficient after a period of time, as long as the locals don't come and chop the trees down to use as firewood.
Hi, could someone tell me if a mesquite is a good tree to start with for shade, nitrogen and mulch? I understand I should have quick growing trees that I chop back that provide shade and nitrogen for fruiting trees but I’m not sure what species to use in my area. I do know that mesquite grows all over here though…
If even hslf of those people living there keeped seeds from fruits they ate and grew them then planted tree in alocatted lands the change in a few years would be mind blowing
Hard to watch a program and see people that dont appreciate help and just the pure abuse and neglect of innocent animals is disgusting, these people are like ravenous animals, they only care about themselves, teach them to clean the filth up out of their streets and a bit of respect for gods creatures!
muslims rock! israelites rock! amaria rocks! all the people in the world rock! we can all use more trees! i want to plant a million trees! i am willing to open a million tree planting club! there is no hunger problem today there is enough food produced in the western civilizations to feed the whole planet. the lack is love as a whole in the world we can use allot more of worldly love.we need to plant more trees out of love to earth.and not just because we can exploit it.we need trees to support and better the oxygen in the atmosphere. there is so much deforestation going on. we need the reforestation surpass it!
Our generation will be the first ever to start REVERSING the damage that our species has caused over the last 200 years. It is a great time to be alive =) Time to get busy though. We have a lot of work to do.
Sorry bud, the League of Nations said West of the River was Jewish Palestine, to become Israel. East of the River was Arab Palestine, e.g., TransJordan, e.g., Jordan. Which was created from the Mandate for Palestine post WW1, specifically for Arabs of the Mandate who did not want to be ruled by non-Arab/non-Muslim People. And what you state is in direct violation of the Jordan-Israel Treaty. Stick to the wonders of what you do with your work, (and you do), may all of Jordan adopt these methods. Good Luck.
