Perfect, enchanting, asiatic music with a little Middle Eastern and Chinese Minority group flavor. I am in awe of such high level erhu player which really exists in China. Beautiful lady coupled with her beautiful music makes this song Heavenly.
Ode 1: I am very thankful for this music Let me thank the Jian Min creation of this masterpiece of ancient, contemporary and yet futuristic music a sort of global reach; and then the piano so clear and emotionally, step by step supporting the Erhu and Ma Xiang-Hua thank you for giving her so much room and then:
The story about Paganini continuing his concerto when strings snapped comes to mind. Incredible how many colours such a two string instrument can produce! And there's something of a Gipsy style in it as well. Interesting to say the least...
there is few women like you 馬向華MA Xiang-Hua -completely transforming music and yourself when you as here are number one -center stage - in charge - power really really suites you well as a woman - 馬向華MA Xiang-Hua I am glad you like 英文名 Soinam Wangmo v=ulG-Py436UU really rule the world with music, excellent ability, hard work, perfect sound, unbelievable strength and show heart is the way of life - way of women - an example for us all to do the right thing - amazing more -->
very spiritually intense song can't stop playing it and I'm just going to say it since nobody else has yet, the erhu is hands down the most magical musical instrument in existence
Ode 2: Marvelous Ma Xiang-Hua equilibristic, mind-blowing wonderful music and comprehension, intelligently and maturely pulling us up and through beauty, melancholy, persistence, temperament, astonishing tempo shifts, like a dream of reality for such a long time and my deepest appreciations for this exquisite fusion of classic Euro-Asian routed traditions into these thrills; your astonishing beauty in carrying yourself through this is phenomenal and admirable;
Watching this almost makes me wish my parents had gone back to China and raised me there, just so I could have one of these and learn how to play. ^.^ I'll just have to settle with mmy other instruments I suppose. TT.TT ^.^ The Erhu is one of my top favorite instruments along with the Chinese Guitar and makes me super proud to be Chinese. XD ~SpiritM
It's the A and D strings of a violin. Which is partly why it's called the Chinese Violin. Oh man. But the sound is so different, and after hearing Violin all the time growing up in orchestra class, Erhu is so nice.
The piece is inspired by Tian Shan (the Heaven Mountain), which is situated in Xinjiang (a province lying in West China). Hence the music has quite some middle eastern influence, as is the music culture of the Xinjiang natives.
I just thought I'd add, I'm only 22. Thus, I wasn't born when Vietnam happened. My brothers and sisters weren't born. We had no way of stopping Vietnam. What is the use of trying to make me ashamed of being an American when I wasn't alive the stop the fighting.
Because if we remember it the right way, wars like thi will not happen again! It is not a crime to talk about past mistakes. The common awareness of such atrocities without due causes must be kept alive as a lesson.
Yes the wise will look beyond their own cultures for goodness also, for the greater good of humanity it is important to look beyond ones own culture, religion etc and find good in others also, there is much good ot there, it is not all bad, the Far East is not all bad, the West is not all bad, one only hs to take the time to look and view things in an unbiased manner is all.
There was no justification for that war, and most people consider it a mistake. Thats what I was trying to say. Nobody's proud of what happened, so why should we be reminded of something we aren't happy or honored by. Just talking about it doesn't make the blight go away.
Well the string on the bow also changes the sound quite dramatically depending on stroke angel, pressure and tautness....but I realize what you meant now so lets just say were both right.
You don't have to tell me all these things, I've been to history class. My father was drafted when he was 18 to go to Vietnam. Luckily the war ended or I wouldn't be here. Also, my grandfather and uncle fought in WWII. They both had trouble talking about it. I know all about that, but that is not something that the newer generation looks kindly on. We know the horrors of our own country, but that doesn't mean the whole country is bad. Its not right to punish people who had no say in the war.
No, but she seems like she'd fit in perfectly. The current Erhu players in the 12 Girls Band are Lei Ying, Jiang Jin (she's a hottie lol), Yin Yan, Sun Ting, and Zhan Lijun with a former member being Huo Xiaojun, but these are the only members thus far.
bap re!!! wat she doing!!! surprising!! u dont hav to be a betiful woman ..but wat is done is real beuty!!!amazing!!she becomes more beutiful as she goes along with the celestl run!!wow!!! does she read this i dont know ?ca any one give her email or contact?just to send an astonishing apreciatn. Most of this almost resemble the hindustani raagaswith slight diff in the landing notes!!!!anyway no words to explain!!!See the way she LANDED!!
They do actually use scales that have similar sounds; particularly the phrygian dominant scale (fifth mode of the harmonic minor scale), harmonic minor, Hindu b2 (I think it's the 2, I don't exactly use it on a daily basis, lol), and others in that vein.
Yup, I suppose I'm being a little excessive, but I'm super stubborn, and I hate when people bad mouth America. All in all, I suppose its a frivolous action and we aren't ever going to agree, but I just can't seem to give up. Anyway, sorry my comments soured the music for you. I do think that her playing and sound is absolutely amazing, so I agree with you:) I apologize again.
that was awsome, very beautiful but, me beign me, at 2:06-2:10 It sounded like the Mexican song La cucaracha, but only that part, and no I'm not saying anything bad
@SpiritMusician No you don't have to settle with something else if you want an Erhu. You can have and learn it wherever you are...: 1. there are Erhu players and teachers all over the world and it's not unlikely that you can find one somewhere near you... 2. if you can't, there's always this option: learnerhu (dot) com
Continued, Instead of finding fault in other countries, perhaps you should think of the good things about the country, then perhaps you could create unity between all countries. I have never felt sadder and more upset in my life. I have always loved china for its history, courage and culture because I don't have a history or deep cultural heritage. It is quite a shock to realize that people in china don't see Americans in the same way. I wish you could at least value to people of my country.

... she is gorgeous and the music . . . . so wonderful

It's so emotional!

very spiritually intense song can't stop playing it and I'm just going to say it since nobody else has yet, the erhu is hands down the most magical musical instrument in existence
How splendid! 無得頂!Transcendence art!
想不到天山的豪放之音给马向华的二胡拉得如此传神,最不可思议的是同一把二胡同一个人演奏广东音乐也表现得淋漓尽致。
I beleive the erhu makes some of the most beautiful music. I totally enjoyed this wonderful player and the peice.
Ode 2: Marvelous Ma Xiang-Hua equilibristic, mind-blowing wonderful music and comprehension, intelligently and maturely pulling us up and through beauty, melancholy, persistence, temperament, astonishing tempo shifts, like a dream of reality for such a long time and my deepest appreciations for this exquisite fusion of classic Euro-Asian routed traditions into these thrills; your astonishing beauty in carrying yourself through this is phenomenal and admirable;

This instrument is my favorite, so versatile, charming and relaxing for a busy mind.

I agree about the girl. She seems like a girl from the famous 12 girl band. Can someone verify?
2:06 - "la cucaracha, la cucaracha..." XD

haha...i think it's more flamboyant rather than "aggressive". also, a live performance and studio recording can sound rather different.
They do actually use scales that have similar sounds; particularly the phrygian dominant scale (fifth mode of the harmonic minor scale), harmonic minor, Hindu b2 (I think it's the 2, I don't exactly use it on a daily basis, lol), and others in that vein.
Oh, my comment is for kk5ng
impressive
oh i like this recording better than yu hong mei's recording of the piece...
wow is all i have to say
If you like this, take at look at the same erhu player interpreting Liang Zhu "Butterfly Lovers"

that was awsome, very beautiful but, me beign me, at 2:06-2:10 It sounded like the Mexican song La cucaracha, but only that part, and no I'm not saying anything bad
WoW
I wander how it will sound if I transcribe this into a cello part
There must be some kind of violin arrangement of this omg, is there ??????????????
i wonder... hows its sounds "one winged angel" with a erhu...
Somebody help me please. How does the 2 stringed erhu replicate music written for a 4 stringed violin?
i know its erhu music but maybe someone re-arranged its notes for the violin; it wouldnt be too hard with erhu having two strings, ill keep looking...
to appapo3
this is a western china style music
what do u mean "it doesn't sound like an erhu"???
oh jeeeezzzz thats creepy but MEE LIKEYY!!
