I'd like to see them try to guess my age. I'm 23 and I look 16 at best. I get really nervous buying beer because every fucking time the cashier insists I'm not 23, checks my ID, says I must have a fake card, takes me to another room in the store as if I'm some sort of criminal, goes check the little microchip thing on my ID with the manager, sees I'm really 23 and spends a long time afterwards apologising for treating me like a criminal teenager with a fake ID. It's one of the main reasons I don't drink.

In Germany you can technically drink with 14 in restaurants if you are with your parents. I feel American drinking laws don't make much sense since most of them drink uneerage in college anyway. Just make it 18
if they made the drinking age 18, then they wouldnt be able to fine people to make money off underage drinking, duh!
Clad Toal technically you can only drink beer and wine at 14 and only if your parents allow it - mine never did. So the official age for non-liquors is 16. Liquors can be bought if you're 18 and over. There's no exception to this law (like the 16yo one).
I've spent a long time in the US and what I personally think is interesting that parents do give their underage kids alcohol in their own home which is basically just the same as we do here in Germany with allowing to drink beer and wine at 14. If you know what I mean

As a parent I wouldnt risk that they are afraid to tell me they need help and have to go to a hospital just because I forbid alcohol.
