The "explanation" for the Cure Ending is disingenuous just for dramatic purposes. When John reaches Molly, we get a fade to black scene then to the park. While it wasn't show if Molly gets the cure, we are shown the park, where there is still snow but its stop snowing which implies that a few months have already passed. And Molly's skin color looks healthy. There is also the confirmation of the creator that she is indeed alive and that humans have survived. If you replay the game again with this ending you would get a green and living park as well. A lot of hints that implies its the good ending.
This is worded perfectly. Not sure if he left the entire analysis up to his interpretation or just decided to flat out not Google what actually happened but I don’t think there’s any harm in fact checking his script so it doesn’t seem exaggerated. Kinda sucks it wasn’t told accurately imo.

The actual moral of the story of One Chance is never quit, and I don't mean as in don't quit doing your job as is the case with the best ending, I mean don't quit as in don't kill your self. If Matthew hadn't gone and killed himself they could've gotten 1 more day of work in rather than having to close early and as a result had the cure finished one day earlier saving more people and maybe even John's wife. Even if they *did* decide to do the grossest thing imaginable to do it, there is no sustainable food anymore since every plant and living thing is dead, and the water might not be clean either, so they'd be incapable of living beyond a month or two at best before succumbing to hunger or dehydration. If anything, the 'good' ending might be even more tragic than the other endings, because all you're doing is prolonging the suffering and depression of the two characters before their inevitable demise, and it's a miserable existence until that point.
The cure ending is told incorrectly. The creator of the game mentioned the daughter ended up surviving but was just asleep/recovering throughout the end. Your interpretation of what happened was interesting to hear though!
i remember playing this game way back when, it's still just as much a soft scifi nightmare as it's always been "cure for all cancers" isn't a thing that will ever be, different cancers have different causes and need different treatments. gaseous medicine needs to be released in a contained space to get a sufficient dosage (you don't inject gaseous medicine ffs). and how the hell did they get through 1000+ trials without this turning up an issue, let alone dose an entire planet's worth of people the day it got approved(shipping is still an issue). also a cure of cancers wouldn't work as a vaccine, cancer is cell mutation, it'd have to be a treatment to a preexisting condition (genetic engineering is only hoping to achieve the curing of predisposition to select cancers)

In my first run I tried to save humanity by spending every day in the lab, and I missed one day , the 2nd day, because I went to see if the roof was open and saw the guy fallf rom the roof. It made me miss that day at the lab and in the end I cured the virus bu ended up being the last person on earth who just hangs around in the park with his daughters rotting corpse.
