Thank you, and yes, financial advisors call themselves all kinds of things that are questionable. Speaking for myself, I am not allowed to get any commissions from an insurance company and continue to call myself fee-only. That's due to rules set by several organizations I belong to (including my CFP® certification). Getting a commission means I'd have to leave those organizations because they do not allow you to receive commissions for client work and call yourself fee-only. That said, it's the Wild West out there, and I'm sure people get away with it.
