OMG! The obsessive, controlling parents in these dramas make me crazy! Once they reach adulthood parents should not be controlling the lives of their grown children. Offspring that allow it to happen are not being filial, they are being subservient, mindless and incompetent.
Parents are the biggest stimulation for their kids . Although some kids have parent issues, they still think highly of their opinion. At an age parents should not manipulate their kids to do this and that . They should give freedom to them and not supress their feelings. No hate.

This is just my speculation but could it be possible that the accident that Lin Shens mother caused led to the death of Fan Qi's parents which is why they went to the orphanage and Fan Qi is now getting his revenge.
I don't think so. (sorry for being late to this convo lol) It appears that Lin Shen is the center of this plot. I'd think it's because of his career or personal involvement that resulted in Fan Qi's big brother's death, however indirectly, and Fan Qi held Lin Shen responsible.
Zuo Yan's mother is toxic. Yan is on her way to a mental breakdown if she doesn't get free of her mother. She's in her 20's yet she's being treated like she is an ignorant child that her mother feels constantly needs to be corrected. Every child deserves a mother but not every mother deserves a child. Mother doesn't always know best.
