Fantastic wagon, it's a stunner! Also, daily reminder that most of us absolutely _love_ the old NFS soundtrack in the background, it's a great touch! Saki Kaskas was the greatest!!
I'm so glad you covered this car! Underrated car, and I'm surprised AMG made so little of these. I'm inspired to source a high mileage C36 AMG and throw the engine into an E320.
The new AMG logo (according to AMG themselves) was designed in 1991, some early 91 models did utilize it, but it was not mainstream till 1992 with the introduction of the first AMG/Mercedes collaboration, the 190E 3.2l. Even with the new logo, many parts utilized in this time frame still used the older AMG logo design, till those inventories will used up. So it would not be out of place to see both logos on early 90's AMG built vehicles.
@@AMGmeister If you go to time frame 17:08 and turn on closed caption (unless you speak German) you can hear the AMG logo explanation. This only confirmed what I had already knew. th-cam.com/video/wf-eHYdr9jU/w-d-xo.html
124, like all the Mercs are very good cars. But a as soon you have to deal with salty roads in the winter, they can become a nightmare with the rust. Mecanically they are bulletproofed.
Here in Britain we deal with this every year. At university a friend of mine had a 80’s Mini which had been ‘waxoiled’ from new, and frankly was immaculate underneath considering it wasn’t overly cherished otherwise. Ever since I have done the same with my cars and they have fared very well as a result, despite regular winter use.
Finally a vid with the mighty E36 wagon. People pie in their pants for a 500E, but a reality check later they realize that there are over 10k of them made. Only 171 wagons, 68 coupes, 68 cabrios and 4 sedans were ever made of the E36. The funny thing is that the wagon was named 124.092 just as the E320 wagon - even though they used the M104 2,8 litre engine in Affalterbach to the AMG version. Nor the 5-speed automatic, or the 5-speed manual were ever an option on the C36 202 pre - 96, and the E36 W124:s. That said, the customers wallet has always played a big part of AMG history....
That 300 TE picture that you got in the video from Gooding&Company is where I work at and I was there in FL. I drove that car and 190 EVO 2 on auction block, yes I do have videos :-)
It may seem odd, but I rather have the E36 amg wagon than the E60. Yes the E60 has a V8 and is much more impressive on the numbers than the E36 with its inline 6 engine. But I LOVE the wagon style and it’s ability to be a perfect road trip car or grocery getter due it’s practicality
The W124 is such a beautiful and classic design. Anyone know when AMG changed to their new design where the letter A has one leg / and the other I? The old design has the A like this /-\.
Because, like Mpower, it lost it's panache when they started slapping it on as a "style" option on millions of cars, losing a few lines of metal probably saves a few coins that are more important these days.
Its actually a W124 with the engine of de W202 C36 The W210 E36 was only in livered in Australia and Japan someone told me after i laughed at him that there aint no suck thing as a W210 E36😂
You are wrong, m104E36 was made way before w202 amgs were made. It was first used in the w124. Also E36 W210s were produced for 2 model years, 1996 and 1997 alongside E50 and E60 amg. Google could help you.
I didn't know about the origin of the modern AMG logo until this video. Once again, another top shelf and informative video.
It was also later around 2010 that the AMG logo went for another facelift, the A for the AMG font changed slightly slanted.
yea that was new for me too!
I am simply shocked. My brain is legit buffering for words. This car is simply out of this world.
Ah my friend Emily has a Mercedes E36 AMG Sedan. A classic for sure.
Love the M104 3.6L motor! Please do a video on the w202 C36 next! the best C class AMG ever!
Or a C43 AMG. I have a 99 and love it 😍
@@Kamfidence w202 c43 is faster and amazing but I like the C36 better just because it's the M104 inline 6 motor and true AMG hand built.
Without a doubt the nicest 124 estate i have ever seen

Saki's Callista on this video was a nice touch. This E36 is an immaculate piece.
Excellent example and another amazing AMG history lesson.
It's cool to see that little AMG badge on the front bumper, my c36 also has that and I was never sure if it was original or not so I guess it is
I believe it's original to see that on C36
I love this wagon. My mom had a diesel 124 wagon in the 80s. What a great car. This AMG version must be awesome to drive.
That’s a stunner. Up there with the Audi RS2 imo.

Those transition years are so fascinating, I suppose by 93 the old logo was phased out but the new logo certainly did appear earlier.

AMG made the 3,6 from the 3,2 as well. I've seen it stamped 104.992 / AMG xxxx a few times.
Callista & AMG’s go together like bacon & eggs 🙌
You should of also mentioned this particular vehicle has the R129 console wood option. You mainly see this option on AMG of Japan built vehicles.
I love your channel man. Best Merc/AMG content on TH-cam. Production quality is top notch as always. Keep up the good work!
Bro this wagon is amazing try to buy this one and add to your collection ❤❤

Wow that is something special.
Gauge cluster has dot disease, lol! Get that fixed/restored and it’s perfect. Amazing.
Looks awesome as a cab.
A similar one just sold at Amelia Island auction sold for 420k UsD…great wagon!
That one is V8 m117 powered so it's worth way more money.
@@AMGmeister ah yes....so would this other one be worth half?? Haha
@@AMGmeisterSo it was the Hammer wagon?
Simply elegant
Best cars❤❤❤ me dad have in 2000 w124 300 24v manual silver full option like e500 miss this car😢
Beautiful car ❣️👌🏼
I love the 124 so much.
For me the best quality E-Class too ❕️😊
Love from Berlin 🇩🇪
Ramsi 🙋🏻♂️
Just Masterpiece
Also watch or search for The Hammer. Another great E500 wagon video.
Hmm though it is a gorgeous looking wagon, I’d say the RS2 is right up there in the looks dept.

Then the E60T would suit you. They built a few, with M117 and M119.
Please make a video for buying guide of Mercedes Benz W140
That is some unicorn you found there
Beautiful
should do a video on the c215 v12 cl63 amg a lot of people don’t know they exist lol
Do you know anything about the Mercedes-benz sl 600 renntech sl700? I have a change to buy it but i dont know.
It’s a very nice car, and obviously very rare, presumably inspired by the 500E and looks like some of the parts have been carried over?
Beauty
Stunning machine ❤❤
W124 best E class generation

I always though AMG only modified the 3.2 to 3.6, didn't know they could bump up the 2.8 to 3.6.
Is it for sale? How much then?
DDDDAAAAMMMNNN !!! Thank you this is NICE NICE NICE !!!!
E36 AMG vs E36 M3
Der Gewinner AMG

Is this not an AMG Japan modification because it has the exhaust temp warning lamp?
Thanks AMG Meister! I would say this rare beauty might fetch around 400k USD; am I in the vicinity or way off?
I think that's a bit too high
I would think that’s a fair estimate, probably slightly behind a comparable factory E60 W124?
With the Hammers going for 6-700k, i would say thats way off. I dont know though
❤
❤❤
I had an E36 touring.... But not this one....
AMG before they was a part of Mercedes. They building custom cars like BRABUS do now. E36 with M104 engine 3,6 litre.
Omg
Damn America really got left out on a lot of cars😢

This is not original. Amg never built a wide body wagon, like this one. This is an upgrade typical for Japan market!
Interesting, I wonder who would have done it? It looks completely OEM quality up close.
How do you know that? If you had the money, AMG would build what the customer wanted at this time!
