I saw a device like this in a science museum once and I got to wear it and walk through a course blindfolded. It was much bigger and composed of 2 shoulder pads, but it worked the same way. I think it was designed by students at MIT and it’s intended for blind people to use.
I find this a nice example of showing people that someone can have an amazing power but it doesn't mean that they automatically be able to use it at its best or at all

They'd still likely need a stick, as these can only sense motion coming towards the person, not stationary objects/barriers on the floor. Plus, the range on these doesn't seem too far, so still hard to dodge out of the way of anything moving too fast. Still, step in the right direction, for sure!

Reminds me of the guy that did the "I can give 1 superpower but only 1" shorts, and he pointed out most superheros have some kind of superhuman body in order to utilize there other powers. Like a normal human couldn't withstand the speed of Flash.
spiderman had to learn this same way. He had to trust to let the sense be his predictor and react instantly. I think in one comic he actually did just this to practice.
