    We teach you how to use the Nest Thermostat to control your home. Think of this as the missing manual for your Nest Thermostat. If you want to learn how to use your Nest Thermostat we cover all of the settings and how they work on the Nest Thermostat.
    The Nest Thermostat allows you to control your HVAC from your phone or you can control your Nest Thermostat with voice commands when combined with Alexa or Google Home. You can also set your nest to automatically save you energy when you're away from your home by enabling eco mode. The Nest Thermostat has a built in motion sensor that can detect when you're home or away to help you save energy.
    You can also set schedules with the Nest Thermostat, track energy consumption and monitor the humidity in your home.
    One of the unique features of the Nest Thermostat is the Nest airwave feature which allows you to save energy but shutting down your AC compressor but still circulating the cold air in your HVAC system to save energy.

      @@justinedse8435 I like mine. I have one both downstairs and upstairs and it has saved me money. I just set a temperature range and let it go. It turns off when I leave and turns on about 20 minutes out from when I get home. Has a setting that if it gets too cold (while off) or hot it cuts on.
      It's really not complicated. I can also control them remotely so I can make changes while I'm away.
      I thought they were a little overly complicated at first because I just wanted to set a temp and leave but now after using them for a few months, I love them.

    Thank you for explaining this. This makes it very simple. I got a Nest and my wife set it up, but it's been changing the damned temperature all the time. So, I bet it has schedules that I need to adjust, and I think it is auto-learning ... Maybe, there are no schedules, and it's just auto-adjusting. Don't know, but now, I can figure it out. Yes, I love it, but we're still adjusting to a new A/C Unit because we had freon and now we've got preon. So, it's a hell of an upgrade. Best decision we ever made, I think. Ours was from 2004, and it was not cooling like it did. But, now, it's a frig in here some evenings -- with how my wife set it, but that's nice and all. But, I've got to get it where it saves poweer, and where I understand why it's happening. So, this video helps me.

    I am a senior as well, the explanation was useful and you have helped me understand the scope of what's now possible. Thank you! However, I HATE the nest thermostat, it's beyond geeky and quite ridiculous in my opinion and I truely wish I didn't have it. I either simply want the heating on or off, at the temperature I set at the time. I don't want some cleaver piece of tech trying to work out what I want and putting the heating on when I don't want it. The fact that I need to consult TH-cam to turn on the heating is pretty depressing isn't it!

    My HVAC Company recommends this for my 86 year old Mom. I just had them put in an Emerson model I purchased, but my Mom (a common complaint) says the downstairs is too cold. They sent someone out, and this time I was careful to ask them what was going on. Her portable heater near her bathroom is skewing the thermostat upstairs, so that everything turns off. He recommends buying a brand with a sensor, and there are only 3 brands. I'm worried the thing will run all the time, as she will set the heat high even at night. You describe that the sensor in a different room can be told to not be the main one at night. This could solve my concern. My question is: by Night...can you set a time for that to begin? She doesn't want to be cold while she is watching the news in the early evening.

    Thank you for sharing this really helped me. I’ve lived in my new home almost 3 months, the previous owners had the nest setup just right. However, after my hubby and I resetting it. I am learning how to use it and have it setup. What I did notice is the on the main screen your left bar where 57 is when u scroll on the dial it moves higher or lower. When I move the dial my right bar moves up or down. Why? Also it’s colder where I live right now, and I would like to have it warmer in the house. It seems like when the system is not on its so cold.

    Constantly changing the temp in your house when you leave and come back does nothing but cost you more energy and in spending. Find a temp you like and set it there and leave, don't change it up or down don't turn it off or on. You spend so much more energy when your system is trying to return the entire house to the temp you want if you turn it off or let it change while you leave then you ever would just leaving it the same. I went from a almost 400 monthly electric bill doing it the way everyone says to do to a 130 dollar a month electric bill setting my unit to 66 and leaving it alone forever.

    Will it control furnace blower ON/OFF? My humidifier is mist kind and requires heat and blower working together with humidifier. My humidifier also requires furnace blower to work a couple minutes after humidifier switches off automatically to distribute all the moisture collected in the duct. If blower stops the same time with mist humidifier moisture still will sit inside plenum and makes it rust. Will this Humidifier Control have this setting so furnace blower work few minutes after humidifier switched off??

    So, I just got a nest learning thermostat a few days ago. I hooked it up, and it said “low battery” and disconnected from WiFi and all of that. I don’t have a C wire
    So, I charged it with the usb cable for an hour then hooked it back up and everything seems to be fine, and the battery voltage is between 3.8-3.9
    My question is, will I have to periodically take the nest off the wall to charge it, or was the battery just initially low because it just sat in the box for too long and/or they aren’t really charged up when they are boxed to begin with?
    Is the 3.8-3.9 voltage enough to keep the battery charging/charged by just having it connected to the HVAC wiring?

    I have this thermostat with a new brand Gas furnace as well as a Heat Pump system that does both A/C and heating. The default when selecting heating is the Gas furnace fan comes on right away without using the gas burners but it uses the outdoor heat pump for heat using electricity. Because the heat pump takes a while to warm up, it blows cold air for about 5 - 7 minutes which I don't like. How do I override the settings so that I can turn on my gas furnace first and then switch over to the heat pump once I reach desired temperature to maintain it? I haven't been able to figure it out yet so haven't been able to take advantage to use the new Gas furnace. I've tried google searches but no luck so far. Thanks if you happen to answer this question.

    Why when I change my temperature does it say “in 2hrs” above the new temperature I dialed in … if I come home and it’s 65° in my house 🥶, and I want it to be 70°, I don’t want it to take 2 hours to reach 70°??

    This is frustrating, mine has different choices must be a dif. model & keeps resetting itself. Just when I think I have it on manual it jerks back to whatever. Now I can get the air on but it doesn’t turn off.
    Update - the nest NEVER stops trying to “learn” what you want so I replaced mine with a small simple old style thermostat. Problem solved.

    Nice Video, here is my most important question that I can't find an answer. I have a whole house Dehumidifier attached to the system and all cooling and heating is forced air and electric How do I use Nest to turn my dehumidifier on with the main fan to dehumidify the air for the system all around the house?

    • @B01
      @B01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The E wire. If the fan doesn't activate with it, you can at least set the fan to operate every 15 minutes? I'd assume would kick on though for it. I have heat pump and it asked if I wanted to either use hum, dehum or Aux heat. Not sure if you can use multiple

    hi, i can't seem to get the fan to run independently, when i try to run just the fan it gives me a menu "To run the fan, first choose a thermostat mode: Heat, Cool or Heat/Cool" any ideas would be appreciated, wires i have connected are Y1, G, Rc, W1, W2, C

    • @OneHourSmartHome
      @OneHourSmartHome  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can choose the mode, then turn the thermostat set point up or down above the current temperature and it will allow you to run the fan independent of providing heating or cooling.

    Have the nest in our vacation home and have had 2 guest call us saying that it is displaying low battery and to enter lock code. We do have it locked with a minimum temp on AC mode at 70 to protect the condenser. Been trying to trouble shoot if they are removing it from the wall and then putting it back on... Do you know any reasons for it saying low battery? It has only happened twice. Thanks Jay

    • @OneHourSmartHome
      @OneHourSmartHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if it was removed from the wall that could happen. It could also happen if you were having power outages from the utility at your home. It can also happen if you were having a low battery due to the lack of a common wire. This video explains the common wire low battery problem: th-cam.com/video/fnGGJ5r9dVU/w-d-xo.html

    Living in Florida, I usually put my Nest temp on a cooler than normal temp when guests are coming over and that has always been simple. Usually set at 73.. but with company I put it at 70.......The a/c needed fixing , so when they were done they reset Nest. Now it does something different. It shows the temp I set it to...then above it is "Cool Stage 2"...then above that, on the outer rim is shows white lines and the temp number is 75. I tried to make it cooler, but it struggled and stayed at 74-75....Is this something I need to have them come out for? It seems as though I should be able to reset it to get it off of "Cool Stage 2".....and what does "Cool Stage 2 " mean?

    • @OneHourSmartHome
      @OneHourSmartHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have 2 stage cooling? Sounds like when they reset the thermostat they might have chosen the wrong setting. You could reset the thermostat and set it back up how you had it setup originally. Here's a video that shows you how to reset: th-cam.com/video/Is7p0frjQYQ/w-d-xo.html and this video explains the wiring diagram: th-cam.com/video/CCNIko3iZIE/w-d-xo.html which will help you determine if you have 2 stage cooling. You can also take the HVAC cover off and look at the terminals in the system to see if you have a Y2 terminal connected. If it's connected you have 2 stage cooling. If it's not connected you don't have 2 stage cooling and the settings are probably wrong.

    I find my New last yr S3 Nest to be worryingly insensitive - It allows swings of c 1.5c swings up and down from Set temp (3c swing) resulting in shivering and sweating as it allows temp to Swing 66-71 F - Surprised it is calibrated as crudely as 0.5c steps, then ignores those anyway..!
    Can it be set up to instruct boiler before such massive deviations? - Eg say, 0.3c?

Do you have a suggestion? Thx!
