My challenge is that I have all thus popping noises when the sun comes our from the clouds and shines in the metal roof covered carport. The top is brown red color so thinking the sun is causing thermal expansion. Interestingly an installer told me it's actually the white insulation board that is making the noise. Still due to thermal expanding the metal and that causes the board to pop. Hmm

what about the cold? does metal get colder then asphalt shingles?

Don't you have to have good insulation and air sealed ceiling to your attic or else won't it start to condensate? In north America

Yes and there are also applications to the back of the panel like Drip Stop that will prevent condensation.
