You are my hero! As a beginning locksport enthusiast, I can say your videos have been one of the most important learning resources I've encountered. Thank you and keep them coming! Jack
Seems to be the older version (v2) of my pick :) Schuyler, send me your address, I'll mail you a new (v3) version of the tool, it has better feedback because of a small bearing. To the comments: ABUS Plus has binding order just as any other lock. And yes, Abloy Protec has Disc Blocking System which prevents turning individual discs once tension is applied.
so in this case, the driver disc, the random tension disc and the zero cut are all the same in an abus plus core , they just make it that you just can tension on one specific disc?
You can't individually manipulate discs in an Abloy Protec lock. There are two additional bars opposite to the sidebar that will lock all of the discs in place if there is an attempt to manipulate them individually. There are also false gates in every possible position.
It seems to me that if the disc were made different thicknesses with miniature grooves to give the feel to the picker of the disc being the same thickness this would make picking harder.
VicariousReality7, I just installed two Protec2s. One slides perfectly, the other not so much. However, I know why. On the one that doesn't slide well (i.e., the stubborn one), I believe what is making it stubborn and gritty are the two tails touching. I think I cut them just short enough that the lock would go together, but just long enough that they would touch and rub when the cylinders are turned. The suck thing is that I already put the plate over the screw heads and don't know how to get it off without damaging it. Anyone else know how to remove the plate?
I dunno what's happening with the quarrel below, but please respect Schuyler by not posting stupid quarrels simply based on your mountain sized egos. People, you need to stop caring about opinions of others of you online.
Interesting, but I don't think the animation is accurate. I don't think a tool needs to slide in the gap between the disks. The tool can be smaller than the slot and could be L shaped.

New Abus locks you have to put tension on the last disk. This was modified a few years ago.
The locksporters miss you, Schuyler! I’d love to chat with you some day!

There seems to be 2 type of abus picks. One uses top tension and the other uses bottom tension. How do you determine which one to use?
thanks
Rick
Should i lube my Abloy disc locks?
They feel rather stubborn and gritty

Better pack up and go home then :-)
but what about the false gate notches I see? did they fool you?
That is pure genius.
No binding order on this abus plus padlock ? strange...
