Most people feel like that. Not Californians and things like that cause all the TH-cam dudes are from there. The only TH-cam people I’ve seen here are telling people why my city is a good place to move. Don’t ruin housing prices even more. They’re helping turn this city into an ugly blob of concrete and horribly designed housing.
It's a little-known legend, but everyone turns to corn at midnight. I am corn. You are corn. That is why Ohioans never leave. If you visit for more than two weeks, you are transformed into corn-person.
@@weatherboxstudios love that place! got lost in the trails around i think its called old mans cave? there was a carved stone staircase and bridge and waterfalls, ended up waalking through the woods to an different area (had a huge staircase to climb up to a parking lot) and hitch hiked for the first time ever.. which is fun in the back of a pickup truck on them hills hahaha my scrawny friend was sliding left and right each turn xD
To answer your question regarding the black patches on the road, that’s to seal off the cracks that form in the road surface so that water can’t seep in and erode the ground underneath the asphalt and create those massive suspension-breaking potholes. Edit: also yes, 3:47 that’s a 2008 Dodge Challenger. Might be an R/T or and SRT8.
I was gonna say that it's also possible that doing that would prevent frost heaves from forming, where any moisture would seep into the cracks and then freezes and forcing the pavement upward.
Hey look! Someone isn't bashing on Ohio for once! What a refreshing change, I was born in Cincinnati, raised in Cincinnati, and I'll die in Cincinnati.
It’s weird but it’s honestly also refreshing to finally see an Ohio related video that ISN’T the dead horse “Only in Ohio” memes or someone just randomly bashing the state for whatever reason
Just found your channel. I was born and raised in northeast Ohio for 25 years until I moved to Wichita, KS this year. It’s so great to see talented folks coming from my home turf. Keep up the good work, you’re making some killer videos.
I am so glad I’m not the only one who thought the McThai sign was the funniest thing. I’ve been laughing at it ever since I used to take the bus home from Columbus State. That was an instant recognition I never expected to have.
Sealing the black top cracks . Moisture once under the blacktop is very destructive...summer heat can create steam and blow it apart and winter freezes the same. I have actually seen 20 ft sections of concrete interstate in Ohio raise 2 ft over night from steam.
The Folded Over sign appears to be a high water sign, which they can quickly deploy if the roads flood. I see them a lot here in Indiana where roads flood often
I moved to Ohio 1 year ago (Cbus) and I decided to "get to know" the state I would visit every single county courthouse in the state. I hit all of them within 6 months (only driving on Saturdays due to my schedule). I learned a lot about my new home state (and only got one speeding ticket!)
I loved the 57/83 picture, as I grew up in that general area and have been down 301 numerous times and all throughout the area! I think I may have even been through that exact spot! Judging by some of your comments about 422, or using the phrase "the west side," I guess it's safe to assume we grew up in roughly the same part of Ohio. A few of the pictures made me think of Rt 6 between Vermilion and Huron, particularly the one with that restaurant just off the road. It reminded me a lot of the Angry Bull Steakhouse or Marconi's. That part you thought was 422 didn't look like any of the parts of 422 I had been on. I've been on the road from, essentially, Cleveland all the way out to the corner of 422 and St. Rt. 700. On a few occasions I went a little further east before turning off on a different road, so I'm not as familiar with the route once you get about 5 miles east of that 422/700 intersection. That was my old stomping grounds in college :-)
Yeessss, please keep doing these in Ohio 😆 I was close on the Independence one (I said Brecksville), got the Youngstown one, and I agreed on the BG one. And I think I've definitely driven by Ernesto's. I've lived in Lorain, Findlay, Cleveland, Youngstown, and now I'm in southeast Columbus so I feel like I'm taking a tour of the state at this point.
Awesome job! I’ve been to pretty much every part of the state too and there’s definitely subtle clues you just notice in the photos that tell you yes to one part of the state and no to another. I was shouting “I-75! Not 77!” on that last one. I’m curious to know what part (or parts) of Ohio you’re from.
The third one, the one you thought was maybe Beavercreek, I nailed it, I said it’s got to be around Centerville Miamisburg area and that’s exactly where you were. I feel like I’ve been on that road a million times growing up in Kettering, and having family and almost every suburb and going to the Dayton mall as a teenager growing up on the back roads. Amazing.
@@weatherboxstudios its more about sealing cracks than it is patching it. Rapidly changing moisture levels under a road is what really drives pot hole formation. basically the usable life span of the road gets extended at little cost by doing that.
There’s a highway not near but 60 something miles away that was patched like that across the whole length for longer than I can remember. And that thing was a good sized highway. Wide and long. Patched up all the way. And they just replaced it. It’s amazing.
As someone who is from the Akron area, I-76, I-77, I-277 is so dumb like who decided it should split around downtown like that. And theres always a part of one of those highways closed for construction
The cause of the squiggly lines in the road is asphalt crack sealant. I don’t know how effective it is but applying it is cheaper and less time consuming than repaving the road. That’s the main reason they use it.
i was told the tar is to fill in cracks in the road. I don't know if that's real but they did it on the playgrounds too and we used to pick it off and play with it if it was hot enough to melt
11:40 loaded in and immediately knew it was Henry County. My reasoning, because it looks very Henry County and I recognized the cell tower in the distance.
ohio is so unremarkable it's become remarkable several times I have seen europeans ask about ohio and what goes on there. no one really answers but it's neat
I live in Kentucky close to the river near Brown and Adams County and was born in PA 80 miles from the border on 80. I’ve been everywhere in Ohio except NW Ohio Akron I swear has the worst construction I’ve seen in my life and Columbus in Pa is like Pittsburgh for traffic. Ohio a gorgeous state tho
6:03 I almost wanted to guess New Albany for this one, even though I'm pretty sure New Albany is flatter than that. If it were a fancy neighborhood with white picket fences, I'd immediately choose New Albany. Being near the Cuyahoga Valley makes sense.
The most Ohio scene I can think of is a cornfield, a shitty road, some invasive species of plant taking over the tiny bit of woods on the side of that terrible road, and if there's a farmhouse, there's around a 5-10% chance for there to be one or many trump flags still hanging. Eastern Ohio is the prettiest, I'm not biased at all.
Ohio here! Woo! We're on youtube! EDIT: ...and it's not for something awful! edit 2: I didn't know Northwest Ohio was known for having weird properties on weird intersections. I can actually think of a few not far from where I grew up, near BG.
Wasn't sure you were from Ohio until you pronounced "Elyria" correctly. NOBODY gets that right on their own! I was raised outside of there. Louisville now. And yes you will get the pronunciation of THAT wrong. Trust me.
Nice! Feel free to point out cars in future videos, like if there's a specific make/model that was launched by a tornado, etc. I know about ten cars lol
I am not going to try and take credit for the ohio geogussr meme but about a year ago Ludwig was playing geogussr on stream and I started calling everything ohio. Not sure why I chose ohio but people kept saying antartica so I said ohio. A few days later he is playing again and I do it again and then other jump in. Ever since then I have seen this become more popular and even spread to other channels. So I probably just randomly started partaking in an already established meme but still there is that small part of my mind thinking "Did I potentially start a small meme?"
I don’t see too much Ohio content out there, so this definitely makes me feel at home
As soon as this weather warms up I'll be heading around the state a lot more to make these videos more interesting
@roysboy me to
Only people who live in Ohio can reply.

Only half of the state actually looks like this, southern and eastern Ohio actually has hills and it’s actually beautiful here
Heading to Hocking hills today for the first time this year!
I live in Meigs county a few counties down from hocking hills and camp there every year. Cool video and enjoy all your vids!

Being jumpscared by a road I've been on within the last week was surreal LMAO loved this video
They’re going to be putting in a double roundabout at that 303/83 intersection this year
There are so many new roundabouts that I haven't noticed around the state
It angers me so much, I’m sick of roundabouts. People round here don’t know how to use em
Newark/Heath/Granville area is building so many roundabouts.
Because roundabouts are safer than junctions by far and save you more fuel

that third one was like ten minutes from my house. recognized it instantly lmao
i've lived in orrville, marion, and pickerington and all of them looked like places i've been, yet i've been to absolutely none of them
That's the magic of Ohio 😂
"Deaf Child! Oh, i thought it said dead child" was hilarious
Sealing the black top cracks . Moisture once under the blacktop is very destructive...summer heat can create steam and blow it apart and winter freezes the same. I have actually seen 20 ft sections of concrete interstate in Ohio raise 2 ft over night from steam.
I've lived here my entire life and this video is making me realize that all of ohio looks exactly the same
Came for the weather content and now I wanna see more of this too!
The Folded Over sign appears to be a high water sign, which they can quickly deploy if the roads flood. I see them a lot here in Indiana where roads flood often
So cool you mentioned Wayne County!! 😅😅 I grew up in Doylestown!

fellow cbus resident here. let me guess, you got the ticket in marion?

Holy dang, 12:25, I can literally drive to that spot of Ohio in less than 5 minutes. THAT'S IN MY COUNTY!
That one near Dayton i immediately new was Dayton. Because Dayton just has the very special… decrepit feeling
Yeessss, please keep doing these in Ohio 😆 I was close on the Independence one (I said Brecksville), got the Youngstown one, and I agreed on the BG one. no. No. Noooooooooo!!!!! It’s all Ohio !!!!

I think they patch the roads like that because its way cheaper than repaving

Bruhhh the accuracy
I got the 303 83 one! And yes, 57 has an exit for Dart Ave. approaching Akron.

You’re fuckin right about Toledo baby. That’s how we do it
Watched a video of yours earlier where you stated you did some sort of “mapping” and you lived in Calif. You get around.
It's only been 3 months since this video and you're already at 5K! I've never been to Ohio so it was neat to get a lil peek here :)
I grew up in Hancock County Ohio. The first one looked like every road in rural Hancock to me and
I wasn't far off. Maybe 15 miles tops.

I knew downtown Youngstown right off the bat lmao I recognize the appearance all too well
It speaks to the quality of your work that you have 29k subcribers in rinky-dink 'hooray for trump!' Ohio...
a state so great Justice made a whole song about it.

There's nothing wrong with Ohio, except the snow and the rain. I really like Drew Carey and I'd like to see the rock and roll hall of Fame 🎶
The meme
Damn, you really do know Ohio
It's just all corn and depression
Go south and there are some nice hills and meth
I’ve lived in Georgia my whole life and I still don’t know it as well as you know Ohio
Well when compared to Georgia, there's not a whole lot in Ohio, so I guess it's easier to know more about it haha
I just came back to this video to inform you that IT'S CORN!
Born in Ohio. Still live in Ohio. I want to leave Ohio.
Swag like Ohio 😂
The 4 is a fire station. Hope that helps!
No that was a Dodge Challenger
You definitely know your Ohio and US routes in the state!
It’s insane how much he’s grown his channel. Now at 40k subs.
8:12 my family owns a Chinese restaurant just north of Genoa
I love how excited you got over some corn bruh 😂
Damn live like 10 minutes away from the one you guessed almost perfect
next thing you know... bam it shows your own home
Zoom up on trash cans you get city names.
im so impressed omg i could not do this for my state
Cross into Richmond indiana on 70 and you will find real pot holes
Kenmore Boulevard! I lived in Summit Lake Apartments for a while. We used to play magic at kenmore comics in 1995-96 or so.

Loo-a-vull
Yeah. O-H!!
I-O!!!
The car you saw on street view 3:48 looks to be a 2008 dodge challenger
Nice! Feel free to point out cars in future videos, like if there's a specific make/model that was launched by a tornado, etc. I know about ten cars lol
@weatherbox whenever I see a car in a video ima point it out since I know too much lol
Does this mean when people ask where I've visited in the US, I can say Ohio now?
13:24 pretty sure i bought a car from that lot lmao
Love my O H I O! Greatest place to be from
7:45 WAIT...I know this intersection XD
My Mom near St C had a 614 area code.
Crazy to know that 80 subs was 19 months ago
only in ohio 😭
Have you ever been to east fork lake
Not yet, I haven't been too many places in Southwest ohio
Wait a minute, this isn't Ohio. Ohio is much bigger than this.
I swear i got the first on while playing us once
Ohio = corn corn and more corn 🌽
