I think that he's displaying suckling behavior. He still associates nursing with feeling safe and relaxed. He can't seem to shed this part of his falling asleep routine. I did the human equivalent. I sucked my thumb when I'd fall asleep. When I was 4 years old , my dad told me that if I continued to suck my thumb, I was forbidden to watch Star Trek. I quit doing it almost immediately.
@@funzjag Captain Kirk would be proud. I had a Siamese cat that sucked on herself. I was about 8 or 9 knew zilch about cats. She hated kids. But every night she'd curled up by my neck and num num num.😺

Here in Chicago we have Paws & they have there cats roam around the people as you mingle with the pets. I want one that picks me. Anyway what I wanted to say keep the videos coming so I can get though the holidays. They help me.
Yes the kitty can pick you but you also must provide encouragement. They all want a home for Xmas!! And if it's been 30 yrs for you, then you should adopt two and have a nice little family. Or better yet adopt a couple of seniors who usually stay quite in a cage. The black and tuxedo kitty's are the last to be adopted in shelters & rescues. Take 2 of those kittys and they'll love you dearly forever. They realky will. Good luck.
@@phyllissteging6423 also my very 1st cat till I was 20 was the spitting image of Soncat. When our last cat in Oct, died I had been watching Soncat and his family grow. After my long days being a good mom & care taker to mine I'd cry my eyes out after, then put on this beautiful family including the two girls. It takes a lot to be foster mommies then give them away. As a person I know who I am. In the end I'd be one of those horror stories and be a hoarder of cats. It takes special people like these two girls. I wish I knew there names so I could pray for them besides saying Soncat mom's .

His paw is normal. He switches it up and only does it when he’s sleepy or in the morning for snuggle time. We’ve seen no ill effects.
