She is a genius. Nobody compares. The depth, authenticity, talent, emotion, and beauty in her work is one of a kind. It can't be replicated. She is from another time, another world, she is the best.
I hear you, and couldn't agree more! Boys for Pele was the first thing I experienced by Tori, released two months after a soul-destroying experience that equally broke and made me, and her music spiritually saved my life. Nobody as an artist could possibly come close, and I am indebted to her, with Kate Bush (Among Angels) a close second. Bless you, @queerfeminist, and thanks for sharing your love of Ms T. She truly is brilliant!
I have to agree seeing her for the first time floored than meeting her and seeing her live no one comes close and im a aGrateful Dead tan so that i think speaks volums
@@jennifermcfadin5265 There is no live experience that comes close to seeing Tori and I have spent my life travelling the world for live music. And yes that's amazing coming from a Deadhead haha 🥰
Absolutely. I heard it first 20 years ago and I can still find some new and interesting things while listening to it. Plus lots of memories of the wild years 🙃
Even if I did just read your comment 3 years later, I have to say that I went through the same experience! It was Boys For Pele and also Cranberries' No Need to Argue, and - as your username so eloquently states - Ridiculous Thoughts was one of my faves back then. Good times.
I absolutely love how in this version she talks about writing multiple chord progressions for songs, and then choosing the one that sounds like it makes the most sense in the context of the song. Truly a genius at work here.
@@erika9763 He was not. Unlike Myra the Harpsichord Butcher who abused children in her repulsive "Raspberry swirl", Handel donated his wealth to children's shelters.
This album saved my life in highschool... I felt the Goddess again. Tori got me through so many transitions. And the piano is the cello's true lover. Love you Tori 💋
Oh my god, I have been watching the shorter version of this video since 2006. And I just now got to the part of the longer version that I haven't seen yet and had to stop and make a comment. Is there anything more delicious than new Tori content?! New to me, anyway, though I realize it's not new at all. Who is this woman and what power doth she wield?! I'm going to watch the rest now. Expect more comment-gasms.
The person, who did the sound-mixing on Pele (and beyond 🤓) knew/still know they craft, fo’ real. Thank y’all both for keepin’ dat shit on 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯 STILL in 2018. Indica Chronic 🌺🔥🕉
That Talulah downbeat groove would be a sick mix to release. Release all the pele re mix sub mix mid mix toyings putty please one day - those rich layered “round” style vocal overdubs re this era and choirgirl are my heaven
I can't understand why Talula wasn't a 2nd radio hit after Caught A Light Sneeze. It's so good! Perhaps the RAINN concert stole the limelight as the live Silent All These Years started to get airplay in Jan '97 (at least in my town it got airplay)
A wonderful talent, but let's not forget the people who broke the ground for her style of music. Kate Bush comes to mind, for example. There are definitely similarities to Kate's vocal/musical stylings in the fantastic Boys for Pele album. I'd be very surprised if Tori didn't name KB as one of her musical influences.
I know you'll understand when I say "fell in love all over again," @2:25 when Tori gives up just a lil tiny nibble of her beautiful baby-babble kinda innocent n sweet, like a lil bitty peek inside a window lookin at possibilities of "just a day" under that huge ocean blue sky and its like in a split second I fall all over again for this person I truly don't know, but I kinda do know... ya know...? Tell me how many times you would have swore on anything sacred the truth in the feels like this life on wheels would love that music makin magical MissTori tour, cuz sign me up thrice run me back thru till She cuts me twice and two times and im blown away.... I mean come on... Imagine that amazing human being actually in your life, a real friend, not just an acquaintance... Im definitely maturing finally, when at 38 I finally know enough to leave alone the idea of wanting to date (or marry) Her... Id rather have a best friend for life... God knows in whatever wacked universe a guy like me could end up with a "Tori," Christ knows, but regardless, I feel I've known enough hate to say that for destruction ice is also great and would suffice... Cuz fire like that babe, my fire-vice, consumes and dooms... In my rear view can still see the smoky plumes, the vapors of capers of perpetrating neighbors... Cloaked daggers... I still stagger, these wounds im worried to the bone... Fear? Im never frightened by a frown, not this clown... Smile n see, show me those gnashing teeth. Learned to look out from the start, last bite left... Last bite right straight for the heart!
I've been on this 6 day stretch now of off and on watchin videos of Tori again. Been a fan for 23 yrs. Had a crush on her I must admit. I mean who wouldnt? Her music also changed my life. I get chills when I hear her sing 'Inanna' in the church.
it's incredible
Hearing it made me cry...
and 'Bring your son'
this album is a masterpiece
Charly Ray agreed!
It's so much more than a photograph or a video to my sense of nostalgia.

I listen to BFP sometimes and I realize it really is one of the most excellently produced albums of all time. Seriously, the dynamics are exquisite.
This was the album that got me through college. Burnt into my soul forever.

even when this version is longer is not enough material to show the incredible work behind such an amazing album
Tori is so f-ing gifted and talented ... and amazingly awesome. ❤️
She's a joke. That harpsichord butchering was utterly painful. Please CPE Bach, Scarlatti and Pachelbel to hear truly beautiful harpsichord playing.

She's such a wonderfully talented artist. So unique with a free spirt and such class!
She really said lemme take you to church, hun! Love it xx
Blimey. I saw her in 92 and thought she was bonkers. But lovely bonkers. And yes that's not lost here....

God I adore me some Tori.
she definitely read the harpsichord right with the whole ass thing:) amazing sound

Well-centered, very grounded. Probably a pain to work with, but keyboard players are a cerebral type. Keith Emerson.
