I’m so happy I found this and your positive attitude. I’ve been dealing with a botched double jaw surgery for 8 months now as well. It’s so painful these doctors make so much money to alter our faces and don’t even give transparent answers about the possible outcomes. I felt blind folded through the entire thing and then I was just suppose to love the results or then what ? I also found my surgeon has a god complex that his work is superior which has made it impossible for him to validate any of my concerns. Hope we can heal emotionally from this experience. Thanks for opening up ❤
me too.. sending her love! I've had jaw surgery too and not sure if I would do it again, but we have to accept what happened and love ourselves no matter what. she is beautiful before & after
I’m honestly thankful that you’re sharing your experience because i’m sure many people are going through something like this alone. From my pov, I think you actually look just as beautiful afterwards. Your proportions are much more balanced and your bite is really good ♥︎
My 14 year old daughter will need the same surgery. I came here to learn on the experience of others and ran into your page. I think you are drop dead gorgeous and you look amazing! There is nothing wrong with your new smile so dont hide it, you look fantastic!
I feel so bad that you’re unhappy! I see what you mean with it being a little off but you look gorgeous and you still have a killer smile! I’m 2 months post op and I totally understand where you’re coming from! My face is still a little swollen and it’s hard to see the change in my face right now as well as having implants and a temporary bridge. I miss the old me but I’m looking forward to the final changes for the new me. You’ve encouraged me to post my journey here and I can’t wait to keep watching all your updates!
Heyy Rach I've been following since you started your journey because we had the surgery at the same time and coincidentally we had the same issues. I don't like my smile and my nose too because they are a little bit off an my face looks so asymmetrical but i had a much worse bite than your's . My surgeon said I was a hard case and this is the best they could do. I was upset but now I'm starting to accept it and live with it. But trust me other persons doesn't see us in details as we do so we don't have to be as rough to ourselves. You look beautiful and I hope you start loving your smile and your face xoxo
Ugh I feel so bad for you.. I for sure see the difference and can only imagine how your feeling.. I been going through face dysmorphia with having braces and how the changes in my face have been affecting me so I kinda know how you feel. I am so sorry you went through this
i see when you move your nose to be lined up with your glabella, your whole set of teeth look shifted. I heard you say in another video, the maxilla and mandible are moved as one, and so the surgeon said it was only an orthodontic problem. But you're literally saying the whole complex is shifted over. I see what you see. It's not disrespectful for you to be concerned about your results. You're in a super vulnerable position. Also, it's not wrong or narcissistic to be concerned with one's own appearance. I'm sure you're glad your teeth close properly now, but you also deserve an aesthetic result your pleased with.
I have been following you since you started your journey. I feel for you, but it is not as bad as you make it to be. I hope you will come to love your new smile :) What is not okay is filming while driving. Please please be careful and take care of yourself and others on the road x
Sorry you are going through this. I just got DJS two weeks ago. I too ended up with a crooked nose and my midline is slightly off. What my surgeon said was because my upper jaw was pushed back they shortened my septum but because the breathing tube was in my nose, it was difficult to see exactly how much of the septum to remove. So now that my swelling is going down my surgeon scheduled me for septum revision in a month to remove a bit more so my nose isn’t scrunched, which’s why it’s crooked. My midline will be corrected with behind the teeth braces. Invisalign was not an option. Septum revision is included in my treatment plan. I wonder if the same is causing your nose to be crooked.
I’m really sorry you’re feeling unhappy about everything. That’s no fun at all, and I totally know what you mean about how others won’t notice, but you do. That’s important too because it’s you, ya know? I think you’re gorgeous still, if that helps. Don’t give up 🤍
Hi Rach I definitely understand what you’re going through because the same thing happened to me I hate looking at myself in the mirror I even had another double jaw surgery 2 years later it helped a lot but I still don’t recognize myself when I pass a mirror I get everything you’ve said and feel about your surgery and I we both have to just live with the changes in our appurtenances you are still very beautiful no matter what….
I’m going through something similar. It is hell on earth and honestly I hate when ppl try to say they don’t notice, that you’re making a big deal about it. It’s so invalidating. I don’t think these other comments telling her that it’s not a problem are helpful.
Ahh thank you for updating !! I’m so frustrated for you, I almost feel like from what you said non of your doctors are taking your concerns in account. And you’re not overstepping or being disrespectful towards your doctors for having an opinion and concern!! You have every right to feel how you feel. I think that’s crazy u went through all of this and now they are telling u to get veneers to fix ur smile ... that totally doesn’t add up. I’m just curious have you ever considered getting a consult with another surgeon to see what they say about your midline and bite being slightly off? I’m so sorry you’re so unhappy with your outcome from surgery :( I’m supposed to get double jaw surgery + genio in fall and I’m so nervous about my nose changing after having my upper jaw moved :/ but thank you for posting all of your content it’s really helpful for me and others who are getting this surgery!
I had same surgery and whats important - it's all about our HEAD, we simply get used to this one way of smile and face proportion. I had very bad feeling about my face after the surgery too, I was disappointed and I cried thinking that all the work was done for nothing, but after 3,5 months they told me that this is my natural look and this really is - when upper jaw cover lower one a little bit. The main thing is to learn how to smile and to mimic again. So everything is alright, you just need some more time. God bless!
The hardest thing for me is that I can only "half feel" my lower lip. It's the worst feeling and I'm terrified of the possibility it will stay like this forever. Got my screws removed a few days ago and all I can do is hope for it to go back to normal now. Anyways, thank you so much for posting your experience! And believe me, it will get better. I struggled for the longest time with the way I look after the surgery and it takes time!
I completely understand how this must feel for her and I in no way want to minimize her concerns, but I don’t really see anything majorly wrong with her face. But it’s hard to tell in video. I had this surgery a year ago. I had asymmetry before and still have the same asymmetry after. If I’m being nitpicky, I can see my midline is slightly off maybe and my nose is definitely crooked, but I’m so happy after this surgery. Maybe the difference with me is that my underbite was way more severe so I’m happy to look “normal” now. I think I was pretty before but I didn’t look like everyone else. Whereas she was objectively beautiful before and after. I can resonate with her that you kinda mourn some of your old features even though your overall look and health have improved and maybe that’s what she was going through here? Also that she wants to cry while looking in the mirror and has never been more embarrassed of the way she looks (but looks objectively beautiful by society’s standards) suggests some major BDD.
Been following your journey as many others and I’m sorry you’re not happy... I just had the surgery done on May 13th. I really don’t want to rude but I do find you look much better now, please don’t say you won’t smile with your teeth anymore. Did you ever notice the people living their best lives don’t give a sh*t what they look like! You most likely had some functional issues as well which is why you went through all this recovery. Nothing is perfect. No one. You look beautiful. 🙏💖
I had DJS 8 weeks ago. Been following post op stories for 2+ years. Something I found is girls that were pretty before surgery and also young seem to go through what you’re going through. You are not alone. I think the struggle is the face you knew was beautiful has changed and isn’t as perfect as your expectations of what it would be. I acknowledge there is some asymmetry to your smile but it’s what is normal. My doctor warned me ahead of time that most all faces are asymmetrical to begin with and surgery isn’t going to make it all perfect. I encourage you to see a counselor to work through the feelings. You should not be ashamed to smile when you look as gorgeous as you do. Seeing a counselor will help so much and no shame to ask for help. You’re worth the investment!
thank you, appreciate your comment. how are you doing now? i’m grateful I have a good support system and friends and family to talk to about everything. wishing you a speedy recovery!
@@rachs9326 that is good to hear (that you have a good support system) and I think the key to success when things are rough. I’m doing great. I’m 40+ so I thought recovery would be tougher on me. I also just started posted my DJS journey on YT. Would love for you to follow my journey along as well.
@@rachs9326 hi, i am going through the same thing and would really like to talk to you. Let me know if you can and I can send you my email address or Instagram page. Thank you.
@@rachs9326 hi Rach how are you doing now? ive followed you since your first video. I hope you are feeling better xo please update or post a video when you can !
You are not alone in your struggle to accept your new appear post-jaw surgery. It is probably the most difficult things for people who have that procedure. I have been reading a lot about this, and it is mentioned in all of the serious, medical, non-marketing materials. You have had your old face for 20+ years, and it is no surprise that it is shocking to have a "new" face. Please believe all of those posting that you look BEAUTIFUL!!! Quite a bit like one of the most beautiful women actresses of all time: Jane Seymour. The asymmetry you notice is unremarkable to others, and there are NO truly symmetrical faces. I can't imagine that as you spend more time with this beautiful, functional face that you wont grow to love and accept it. I'm praying for you to get to that place! God bless you! (BTW, I read and watch all of this stuff because I have a beautiful 22 yr old daughter who struggles with this issue...) Thank you for sharing!
Looking at the pictures the after is much much better and much less asymmetrical than the before. In picture, in still. However I do agree with you that your face in motion looks like something is off.. not completely harmonious.. when you talk, the way the mouth moves. I am still trying to pinpoint what exactly it is. As quite some time has gone by since you posted any new videos.. are there any further updates? Do you feel more comfortable now that you had some time to get used to the changes in your face? Lots of love!
people i want you too keep in mind that many doctors will convince you to do the surgery even if you don't need it, like Rach didn't need to do the surgery and if i found her channel earlier i wouldn't recommend her to do it!
Before surgery, I bet you never thought about the nose alignment with the middle of your teeth or face. I hear everything you are saying, as a father, I take what my daughter says and feels with empathy. But here goes, what you hear from everyone -------> Believe me, you look awesome! Your smile is awesome! No one has perfect symmetry even if someone can tell its a micrometer off, if it even is. Your are your own worst enemy on this case, you are too hard on yourself and have buyers remorse, unnecessarily. You can double for Cameron Diaz (actress) with your new look! You are very brave to have this procedure. You seem to have avoided all the potential medical complications and that is a big plus. Your older self will thank you, the medical benefits that you don't talk about will keep you healthy into a ripe old age - and that will contribute to your happiness!! Get over your dissatisfaction quickly and enjoy your health and new looks! Its that easy!
What’s the surgeons name?! Proud of you for advocating for yourself and not letting anyone gaslight you. The orthodontists aren’t going to throw the surgeon under the bus. Not only is it against code of ethics, they don’t want to get a bad rep among colleagues. Of course things are unpredictable with any surgery etc etc you’ve heard it all everyone’s anatomy is different. I think your Facial nerve branches on the right side were positioned in a way that they were traumatized during surgery causing atrophying of the right sided facial muscles/lack of control of facial expressions. I’m a fourth year dental student and hearing your experience with ortho/OMFS is something I will take with me what i start practicing. Im sorry this has been so traumatic. Thank you for sharing such a vulnerable experience 🙏🏼 I hope you are doing well mentally. You are beautiful inside AND out!
Hey Rachel, Would love an update and see where you’re at with everything. I’m about to take the surgery myself. I feel like you left us on a big cliffhanger with this 8 month video lol. How’s life? Have you done any other changes to your face since this surgery? By the way, you look great. I don’t say that to minimize your experience, but I just figured I’d be another encouraging comment on your vid!
Would love to hear an update❤ Have you gotten used to your new smile yet? I think you profile looks more beautiful after operation. After the operation your maxilla (upper jaw) looks more developed (Just like supermodels have) and your lower eyelids look fuller and more beautiful. Do you see these as perks?
Hey Rach! Thank you for showing your journey on here. I saw all of your videos and your before and after photos and I see exactly what you’re talking about. I’m no expert but from what I see it looks like the problem is not your teeth, it’s how they did your surgery. It looks like the upper jaw was placed wrong which makes your nose appear crooked and your smile looks off BUT it is not something braces can fix it looks like surgery will only fix it… 😔
Hi! Finally an update from you! I was following your journey leading up to my jaw surgery which I had in April and am now 2 months post up. Similarly, my nose was off post surgery. However this was due to the tube they had in my nose during surgery which ended up giving me a deviated septum (it was totally to one side not centered which made my face/smile appear slanted) and my surgeon performed a septoplasty 3 weeks after to align my septum with my lip/teeth. I wonder if there is any slight movement of the septum they can perform to help align vs having a more serious nose procedure. The procedure was super easy and made a huge difference. Just wanted to throw it out there as an option to explore. You know your face best but with that being said, honestly, I think your transformation looks great and you look gorgeous!
@@kirstencurtis4521 super easy! Had the procedure Friday and was at work Monday without swelling or bruising! Just had to be mindful not to hit/touch my nose for the next 2-4 weeks after until I was healed, only experienced mild congestion the following week or two after.
Looking at your previous videos you did have an asymmetrical nose and jaw surgery would only amplify that. But your overall features are def more proportionate than before and personally like your results!
I agree, looking back my nose was off before, but the smile was aligned with the center of my face (chin and forehead not the nose) now the smile is lined up with the crooked nose if that makes sense lol! but thank you
Hey Rach! I personally think you look great😍 But I do understand where you are coming from and what you are going through. I had double jaw surgery 2 years ago. Right away when I first saw my new smile I felt something was wrong, the midline was off and the whole bottom of my face looked crooked, the midline lined up with my chin but not my nose, if you understand what I mean. Also my upper jaw was tilting on one side. I felt so bad because I’ve struggled with braces and had a really tough surgery only to end up feeling more selfconscious than before, not wanting to smile at all. It doesent matter if people say ”it does’nt show” because you see it yourself. I told my orthodontist and my surgeon about my concerns and where also met with ”no everything is fine, your bite is perfect now” I was also afraid of affending the surgeon with my concerns. But I feelt so strongly that I did’nt want this to be the outcome of this whole thing so I ended up naging him untill he agreed to operate me again, it took over a year. If he would’nt have operated me again my second plan was to contact another surgeon to get a second opinion. And im thinking maybe that is something you can do? Get another, not biased, surgeons opinion on what he/she thinks about the outcome of the surgery. Im sending love and stenght your way and hope you end up feeling happy whatever the outcome❤️
I do see what you are saying about things being off. But like you said, you can't go back. It is best to focus on the positive. Your profile and bite look very improved. Try not to focus on it too much.
I have a naturally asymmetrical face and I totally feel you gurl. My nose and lips don't line up with my smile as well. (In fact my mouth looks almost exactly like yours when smiling) Also, I thought your orthodontist initially said that they could fix it with invisalign? Why are they suggesting veneers now? I still think you look so much better than before the surgery though! And please don't feel bad about complaining here! I'm so grateful that you shared your negative experience with us. It would suck if all the videos on youtube were positive and didn't reflect the reality of this surgery. Also, do share the different things your doctors said! Lots of us considering jaw surgery would be interested to know.
Jjust commented the same on her other video, the 1 year post OP one. I never had any surgeries but I have a super asymmetrical face naturally . I can relate so well to what she is experiencing. I still did not get used to my face and I had 45 years of time to do so. I did research quite a bit but have not really found anything that could be done as it´s just the whole face, left and right is asymmetric, from eyebrows to cheeks to lower part. And my forehead and nose are in one line and then my teeth and chin are in another line and all looks crooked. It´s kind of nice to see that there are more people out there struggling from this, I always felt like I am the only one. Big hug to everyone with asymmetrical features 🤗
I started my orthodontic journey to fix my underbite as well. I'm wearing braces now and hopefully everything will go smooth even though everyone is telling me I don't need surgery. But don't worry about your appearance. I was showing you pics to different people and everyone liked the picture after surgery and no one noticed any assymetry of your smile. I personally like your look after surgery as well. You look younger to me now. Please, keep us updated 🙏 and thanks for sharing with everything what's going on with you.
Personally me, it's barely and I truly mean, BARELY noticeable and it's only "noticeable" when you point it out. Have you seen Tom Cruise's smile? I think you have a lovely smile! Try not to over-analyse!
@@Lidia_EsNo, she shouldn’t over analyse, I’ve been through a similar experience. Last thing you want to do is have all these doctors keep recommending procedures because of little insecurities that you may have that no one else even notices. Because the only way to change things after this is to do plastic surgery or get vaneers or some other unnecessary procedure that you would regret
My son went through this surgery… personally I think your chin, overbite and lower jaw look much improved but I agree your midline upper jaw is out and to one side…. I would love an update now the swelling and healing are done? X
I'm starting all the process to do my ortognatic surgery and I have been watching your videos the last few days, they are really helpful. You were beautiful before the surgery and still is, but I can totally see what you mean about your nose and smile and I agree, there's something off. Maybe you should see a new surgeon to hear another opinion, I doubt the one that did your surgery is going to agree that something went wrong. I hope everything ends well. 🥰 Sometimes I think doctors keep saying "it's just swelling honey, it will go away" to make the patient shut up and accept the poor results (not saying it's your case).
Even worst, they say it'll take 3-4 years to settle and for you to be patient. By that time the surgeon can prob blow off any lawsuit saying why didn't they complain earlier
Have you looked at bottom lip scar revision? The smile doesn’t seem too off, but the way bottom lip is working half way? Sometimes it’s growing webbing inside the lip after incision and makes the lip uneven during speech.
I can see some asymmetry so I'm not going to gaslight you on that but overall I genuinely think you look prettier now. You do look very different from your before and that can cause an identity crisis or make you a bit depressed. I hope you gotten used to your face and have learned to love it.
I see your smile perfect. The only thing is that your face are still swelled. It takes time (months) to the tissues and muscles to go back to their original position and for the swelling to go down. I had almost the same surgery, and it took time ( almost a year) for my soft tissue to go back to completely normal. But, like you , I went desperate. 😄 Patience, my dear, patience. 💜 By the way, you look younger after the surgery!
Girl, you look beautiful! Your smile and bite also beautiful! If it help you to feel better just try to find for a small cosmetic nose surgery don’t do anything with your beautiful smile 🙏🏼
I see what you’re saying but asymmetry can be beautiful. Overall you look better than your before. We are definitely our worst critics ❤️. Hope all is better.
Oh girl. Your latest update video popped up randomly yesterday, so I started watching your others today, and I just wanted to comment to a) say I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience, but b) your positive attitude and optimistic outlook are so impressive in light of the circumstances. I’m not too much older than you and I’ve had my fair share of negative medical/orthodontic experiences where doctors have let me down, so I truly deeply feel for you. It’s already difficult to build up the trust and courage to have something so major done to you, and then for the supposed experts/authorities to not come through, and to discount your concerns…it’s so hard. And disillusioning. Hang in there, and (to be cheesy but 100% sincere) know that you look gorgeous no matter what because of your lovely spirit. Do keep us updated, and good luck figuring out your next steps. P.S. I actually commented on this video instead of the latest one because I was totally not expecting to hear one of my favorite Blink-182 songs on in the background!! Good choice :)
I have an underbite that is worse than yours was, it’s given me deep smile lines. I promise you that you are very pretty 😍. I’ve gotten plastic surgery on my nose because of a nose break when I was younger and my nose is not perfectly straight especially when looked at from the bottom just like you, trust me that no one notices it but us. I’ve finally decided against the jaw surgery because here is the US they keep the metal in your jaws (unlike EU), its invasive and 6 month’s recovery is long. I’ve decided I’ll stay the way God created me. I honestly think you look better then before, I know it took a while to get used to your new look and accept it. Your smile lines disappeared and your side profile looks much better… hehe I know you’re nose got a little wider but it looks alright really. Anyway it was ramble. Have a blessed day
My orthodontist told me yesterday that I basically have 2 options… jaw surgery or pulling 2 upper teeth and wearing braces to pull my front teeth in more. He said the jaw surgery would be the better option because it’s actually fixing my bite and the other option is basically camouflaging the problem. But it would get rid of my overbite. Have no clue what I’m gonna do yet
Was your nose off balance before the surgery or was it straight? I notice you tilt your head a bit to the right… I’m pretty sure that habitually can cause the face to grow a little unevenly. I have the same thing, my nose hooks a bit to the right and I tilt my head to the left. I’m working on my posture now, maybe over time the cartilage will swing back around. Ignore this comment if your nose changed after surgery, just adding a new theory to the mix!
Okay now im scared. i have double jaw surgery scheduled in 2 months and I need it but I don't want to completely lose who I look like. Thank you for sharing and youre still beautiful. Perhaps there are other alternatives in the future
I wish you all the best for your future and hope that one day you will be able to look at yourself the way we see you. As a beautiful, unique woman. See you soon!
@@NATO_Believerapparently suicide. She did another video one year post OP but all of the videos get taken down now. There were a lot more. Better to download these ones before they are gone
I have class 3 bite too and you are right only people who have this conditions know how it feels i hope you the best i have ptosis plus class 3 bite and from 16 to now 28 with orthodontics im so upset with it all but you are so brave I really love you, so brave so cool i wish you the best
When I had my jaw surgery, they put a wire hook into both my ears connected to a device to bite on. It hurt a lot, I don't know if you had it, but it was to make sure my jaw was aligned. It was used in surgery too. I mention this in case your surgeon did not use this device or know it exists (commented on your other video what surgeon I went to) and if you're scared you'll get a bad result again. I think knowing such a device and technique exists can ease your worries. To me it sounds like you had a bad surgeon and your only mistake was trusting a snake. You can have a good result. I wish I had gotten my surgery 10 years sooner. Please have hope that it can be fixed. It breaks my heart you did not have a good result.
So I had surgery on the 10th of may so 11 days ago and the most difficult thing for me is the liquid diet it’s making me starve... so I’m just wondering which week did you start eating normally again?
I had DJS, a genioplasty and they fixed my deviated septum in July 2020 by Univeristy of Alabama Birmingham. Do you have a deviated septum by chance? Maybe that could be why your nose is slightly off? I think you look beautiful!!
to all who will have jaw surgery just don't, you see what can happen also only forms are changed, the problem, the cause that caused it will continue to exist and then cause problems again. You try to fix everything with screws and retainers but there are forces against forces which can develop into new problems, accept yourself nobody is perfect you are special
This makes no sense. If you don‘t do anything you‘re at your starting point. If you do surgery and relapse you‘re at you‘re starting point. But you tried.
I mean I wouldn't say don't get surgery as for some people its a necessity as not getting it could cause further damage to their teeth if their bite is messed up, but just be aware of possible complications/recovery etc and be realistic
I can relate. Long story but ortho treatment and extractions have my midline shifted and face asymmetrical. The world and my ortho want be to believe it is not the case but I see it.
I know how you feel. I am almost two months post-op and I have mixed feelings. I don’t see anything wrong with your smile honestly. It could be a muscle issue that you still need to train your muscles on the new smile. That being said, your nose is obviously deviated, and that is not uncommon. DJS does change the nose, I’m sure you already know this. Perhaps you had an issue with your nose in the past but the surgery made it more prominent. Why don’t you consult an ENT?
hope your recovery is going well! if I get the nose aligned with my face then my smile will look even more off lol so idk what to do because it helps to camouflage it rn. my oral surgeon can do an alar base reduction which will just narrow the nose, not straighten it (but it will also leave scars and i’ve heard mixed reviews about it) so i’m still thinking about my options! I should probably consult w an ENT or plastic surgeon like you said.
have you visited other doctors ? my surgeon said he also needed to opperate my upper jaw so the surgery would be nice. he said my biggest problem was the deppresion in my upper jaw.i asked only for my lower jaw surgery but he told if you only do that you will feel you wasted you money
don't need share your surgeons name on this platform but i do hope you write a review on your surgeon in regards to your experience. It will be beneficial to other patient make a better and informed decision.
Can anyone confirm her real name and confirm if she has passed? I dont think that is true but someone in the comments said she passed. Does anyone know her other socials? Would love an update of how she feels now.
I can see the mis-alignment I can’t lie and say I don’t see it. Although I strongly believe it’s something that can be fixed if they just own up to their medical mistakes. The doctor shouldn’t just say that your smile is perfect that’s so narcissistic of him. At least he should admit that the jaw reconstruction messed the alignment and now let’s see how we can fix it. I am now scared to even consider a jaw reconstruction. I am sad watching how unhappy you are with the results. I wish I could give you a hug. I can’t smile my teeth are horrible and my jaw is a mess but I am just gonna live with it. I am scared to do surgery and be even more unhappy 😭😭😭😭. Please make a video I hope you are doing okay you haven’t posted in years 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I’m so sorry you feel this way. I can personally not see it, even if I try, but I imagine you can since you know your face well. I hope you feel better soon and I just want to say that you genuinely look gorgeous in my eyes
I’m so sorry girl you look beautiful anyways and I don’t recommend veneers or shaving you teeth in any way at all (my orthodontist shave mine for me and it’s my biggest regret in my life) I know you just want it to be perfect but if you do other things you might just add other problems other the already existing ones And you will get comfortable with it with time I know it’s very frustrating and stressful to feel that your smile was better before while you did the surgery for it to be better I have the same struggle because I had braces and my orthodontist ended up removing it before the treatment was done and 2 other doctors after him confirmed that for me so I ended up with an overbite even though it could’ve been fixed with braces and I was still a child so it was easier than if I decide to do braces now again as an adult
I would be upset if I were in your shoes, too. I had DJS two weeks ago and thankfully I had a good result. I watched your videos before my surgery and they made me nervous but I was glad that you shared your experience so I knew what could happen. Hope you are doing all right now.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I never thought about the center line of the nose being off after surgery. I'm already kinda asymmetric so not sure what I would feel. Used to it or upset it's worse. Please keep smiling with your teeth though, you still have a very pretty smile! I don't think anyone would notice the "off" unless you point it out.
I’m not an expect but would braces or retainer be able to correct your teeth centring issue, cause I also have a pretty serve underbite and I got expanders twice and I had braces but I’ll have to get braces again when I get underbite surgery so maybe retainer might help???
I’m having this operation on Monday I have a very crooked nose and I’m really worried it will be even worse after this surgery I’m not sure what to do x
Hello my name is Zoe and I'm from Cyprus. Thank you for the great youtube video. I have also had this surgery and I am 6 months later. I wanted to ask you if you can feel your lips because I still can't feel them in some places and I'm worried. could you help me?
I honestly think your smile is very pretty! Im someone who doesnt smile with my theeth, i hate mine, but yours is very cute! A little asimmetry doesnt make it look bad❤
I changed my opinion. Since it looks like you’re in NY, you should go to Dr. Steinbacher at Yale. He is considered by many to be one of the premier experts in the field in the US.
OMG girl no! Sue them. You paid too much money to settle for a crooked smile. Go to another surgeon and see what they say (don’t tell them you’ve had jaw surgery) test them to see if they say something is off first. Because tbh I notice it when you point it out.
Get a second opinion. Something is def up with your nose and your jaw moves differently when you speak when compared to before. As far as mouth movements and speech maybe that was expected as your whole mouth was rearranged. Just get a second opinion. You are still beautiful ❤ regardless. The doctors should take you seriously.
Hey I have the same bite as you, like sort of the edge to edge bite (it’s class 3 leaning on underbite) and I wasn’t sure if I should get surgery. Ive had an orthodontist already recommend surgery to me, but after watching your video I think I’m going to reconsider it. I think you look absolutely fine and like your side profile is better, overall your better, but you seemed disappointed with the results and maybe it’s taken like more of a mental toll on you which you I’m also considering now as a factor. I also wanted to add that I’m having really no problems like with my jaw, it’s not entirely noticeable unless you look from the side, but my teeth do hit when I chew like yours did. I’m kind of leaning towards not getting the surgery bc that’s two people that have had mixed feelings about the result of there jaw surgeries on TH-cam.
So I basically have the exact same bite as well But for me it’s a must because I grind and clench my teeth constantly and now I have gum recession on almost all of my teeth because of my bite. Not only do I have to get recession surgery but I have to get the double jaw surgery. It’s gonna be a lot but ultimately if I don’t get it done my teeth could fall out I would say (of course not an expert) that if you really don’t have any issues and it’s more of aesthetic thing it wouldn’t be worth the money and the pain
i had the sameee type of bite! One side of my jaw grew a little more then the right during puberty. that caused my teeth to shift and create a underbite/cross bite that was a very mild class three. my teeth actually where edge to edge in the front of that makes sense. I went to a orthodontist ( one of the best in my town) and he said i needed jaw surgery and was saying it was going to cost 40,000 dollars without insurance and was telling me horror stories of past patients. I left that consultantation very upset and confused. So i went to another place in our town and he said i didn’t need jaw surgery that regular braces and rubber bands will not only correct my teeth, bite but also asymmetric jaw. after a year and a half of braces my teeth and jaw are amazing and I can still see the improvements they are planning on continuing to do!! I’d say get mor opinions and consultants.
Your post op looks like me after braces. I hate how orthodontists lie.........my orthodontist totally f'd me up. my nose and upper jaw is crooked. im sorry.
It is NOT disrespectful to DEMAND what you paid for! Don’t keep apologizing
Thanks for opening up ❤
I’d love to see an update, I hope she is in a better head space.
me too.. sending her love! I've had jaw surgery too and not sure if I would do it again, but we have to accept what happened and love ourselves no matter what. she is beautiful before & after
no gurl, i honestly feel that you look more prettier and younger post op
I’m honestly thankful that you’re sharing your experience because i’m sure many people are going through something like this alone. From my pov, I think you actually look just as beautiful afterwards. Your proportions are much more balanced and your bite is really good ♥︎
are you thinking about getting the surgery?
Are you retarded? The maxilla is push so far forward it looks like Homer Simpson
You’ve encouraged me to post my journey here and I can’t wait to keep watching all your updates!
did you end up liking your results in the end?
Heyy Rach I've been following since you started your journey because we had the surgery at the same time and coincidentally we had the same issues. I don't like my smile and my nose too because they are a little bit off an my face looks so asymmetrical but i had a much worse bite than your's . My surgeon said I was a hard case and this is the best they could do. I was upset but now I'm starting to accept it and live with it. But trust me other persons doesn't see us in details as we do so we don't have to be as rough to ourselves. You look beautiful and I hope you start loving your smile and your face xoxo
Do you regret getting the surgery?
@@JessicaLPie not at all. It's been two years now and it changed my life
did it get better after a year
Ugh I feel so bad for you..
I hope you will come to love your new smile :)
What is not okay is filming while driving. Please please be careful and take care of yourself and others on the road x
thanks linda, and thank you for calling me out on that- realized that’s not ok, won’t happen again xx
God bless!
Nobody is perfect! You look amazing they way you are. No surgeon can make perfection. And the way your face is naturally supposed to be is beautiful.
Did it go back to normal?

You are so so beautiful, I’m so sad for you not be happy with the results as it’s such a hard recovery process. Sending you so much love and light ❤️✨
Lots of love!
hi theres a lot of rumours she has committed due to body dysmorphia, her surgeon Dr Todd Hanna has deleted her post from his account
people i want you too keep in mind that many doctors will convince you to do the surgery even if you don't need it, like Rach didn't need to do the surgery and if i found her channel earlier i wouldn't recommend her to do it!
Did you have the surgery?
Its that easy!
jesus christ just shut up. Its that easy! Just shut it. 😘

Hey Rachel,
Would love an update and see where you’re at with everything.
What has the recovery been like since the septoplasty? Is there a lot of swelling, congestion, etc?
Did you like the results after the second surgery?
@@sarahbouyaiche4139 Yes! In the second surgery he centered the midline and the tilt was fixed, im very happy about the way it turned out!
@@emmmli ahhh thats so great !!
Yes. This video was very helpful to me and made me realize even more that we are our own worse critics. She is gorgeous & I am thankful for this video
Don’t tell her not to over analyze, she doesn’t like it. That’s what matters
@@Lidia_Esand look what happened to her. We have to tell each other wheb a procedure is NOT needed! Protect each other
@@Lidia_Es shut up
@@Lidia_EsNo, she shouldn’t over analyse, I’ve been through a similar experience.
please keep updating us
I'm starting all the process to do my ortognatic surgery and I have been watching your videos the last few days, they are really helpful.
Also, there's a reddit community called /jawsurgery and I think someone can give you an honest opinion.
Patience, my dear, patience. 💜
By the way, you look younger after the surgery!
Have a blessed day
gurl you look gorgeous. Stop trying being the perfect you think … You are already perfect
I think your smile is better than before.
i think when you smile one side of your smile is than the other
Was your nose off balance before the surgery or was it straight?

Awn I’m really sorry that you don’t like your results. You looked and look gorgeous from my point of view. Good luck:)
I'm no orthodontist, so this is just a curious question: might pushing your upper jaw out help with your smile?

I think when they cut the bone, they probably did it a little bit tilted, just a few millimeters could create this.
I had DJS, a genioplasty and they fixed my deviated septum in July 2020 by Univeristy of Alabama Birmingham. Do you have a deviated septum by chance? Maybe that could be why your nose is slightly off? I think you look beautiful!!
I’m a little nervous to get it, however i feel like I’ll need it either way since I have a narrow maxilla :( you’re valid in the way you feel!!!!
Gurrrlll… you look better by every metric after surgery. You made the right decision. Smile with your teeth. Shine
You're beautiful. You deserve to have this corrected. I would definitely seek a lawyer.
Why did you get the surgery without braces?
I had a perfect bite/smile until I tried to correct some very very minor crowding in two places. Invisaline ruined my bite
to all who will have jaw surgery just don't, you see what can happen also only forms are changed, the problem, the cause that caused it will continue to exist and then cause problems again.
@@mvg5256 u tried? , the risk was really necessary?
Ι like you every time I see the before photos but for me now you are exceptionally cuter than before! So be positive you look so beautiful and sweet
Can anyone confirm her real name and confirm if she has passed? I dont think that is true but someone in the comments said she passed. Does anyone know her other socials? Would love an update of how she feels now.
nobody knows
Up
I want also to know more abour her. If she is alright or what ? Im worried about her. I hope she is doing better
Please make a video I hope you are doing okay you haven’t posted in years 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Would braces be an option? They’re super inconvenient but very effective in shifting teeth?
I’m so sorry you feel this way. I can personally not see it, even if I try, but I imagine you can since you know your face well. I hope you feel better soon and I just want to say that you genuinely look gorgeous in my eyes
I’m so sorry girl you look beautiful anyways and I don’t recommend veneers or shaving you teeth in any way at all (my orthodontist shave mine for me and it’s my biggest regret in my life) I know you just want it to be perfect but if you do other things you might just add other problems other the already existing ones
And you will get comfortable with it with time I know it’s very frustrating and stressful to feel that your smile was better before while you did the surgery for it to be better
I have the same struggle because I had braces and my orthodontist ended up removing it before the treatment was done and 2 other doctors after him confirmed that for me so I ended up with an overbite even though it could’ve been fixed with braces and I was still a child so it was easier than if I decide to do braces now again as an adult
I would be upset if I were in your shoes, too. I had DJS two weeks ago and thankfully I had a good result. I watched your videos before my surgery and they made me nervous but I was glad that you shared your experience so I knew what could happen. Hope you are doing all right now.
Someone dropped the ball and it’s very unfair to you. He should do a revision, give you a partial refund or refer you to a more competent surgeon
You look beautiful to me, not saying your thoughts aren’t valid. But you really look good!
I honestly think your smile is very pretty! Im someone who doesnt smile with my theeth, i hate mine, but yours is very cute! A little asimmetry doesnt make it look bad❤
I think its a beautiful smile your being overly critical. We are all unique
Please give an update !!!
How much did it cost? Did insurance cover all of it?
Hey, can I ask you a question please? How many millimeters does your upper jaw advance and how many millimeters does your lower jaw go back?
this girl in pre already had her eyebrow and her eye more droopy
I changed my opinion. Since it looks like you’re in NY, you should go to Dr. Steinbacher at Yale. He is considered by many to be one of the premier experts in the field in the US.
I think subcision nasolabial folds really helps here
Has anyone had this surgery to correct an OPEN bite? If so, can you please reply with your experience?
Ive had an orthodontist already recommend surgery
to me, but after watching your video I think I’m going to reconsider it.
So I basically have the exact same bite as well
But for me it’s a must because I grind and clench my teeth constantly and now I have gum recession on almost all of my teeth because of my bite. Not only do I have to get recession surgery but I have to get the double jaw surgery. It’s gonna be a lot but ultimately if I don’t get it done my teeth could fall out
I would say (of course not an expert) that if you really don’t have any issues and it’s more of aesthetic thing it wouldn’t be worth the money and the pain
I have a class 3 underbite. Double jaw surgery post op 6 days… will see how mine will turn out
i had the sameee type of bite!
I hate how orthodontists lie.........my orthodontist totally f'd me up. my nose and upper jaw is crooked. im sorry.
