People see this as a cool little pumpkin model that the machinist made for fun.
I'm sitting here as an apprentice machinist and just wow'ing at all the cool details and workflows that made this figure possible.

You nailed it. I"m an old-school tool and die maker and former high school / college machine shop instructor. I'm glad you have an appreciation for what goes into such a cool project...or anything that is manufactured.
Programming time= $3000-$5000.............cut /machining time= $20-$40,000.oo ..............premium tool surcharge= $1000 .....stock mild steel $25.00 ...started rusting 15 minutes after it was finished.

Assuming the 3d model is already available (2 hours for a random person who knows any 3d modeler), and assuming a mid career CNC machinist makes 20 $ an hour, that would be about 200 hours of work to load the file, look at the initial tool path generated for you by the program, check the simulation for correctness, and make some adjustment. That would be about 25 entire 8 hours day of work....... Not sure how to justify this.
out of personal experience i have to say, machinists are all just little kids who are now playing with their big machines how they always wanted to ^_^

Great project and nice machining. There are a couple machined punpkins but every time hypermill takes on the task the result is just outstanding.

Thank you! Since this is more of a one-time "show machining" (with no focus on time optimizations), it's not really possible to give a reasonable specification for the machining time. Let's put it this way: It was pretty work-intensive, but it was worth it. 😉👍
