Sure do. Nothing. His system needs thinking, talented players to make all the cutesy in and out play. Can he still beat flatfooted people in the box? Why not. But he'll do nothing in a sh.. league. Same seen in French league, which is still better than MLS. Messi never chose EPL nor Bundesliga. So, he never really experienced playing at the top level for a season of 36 games or so. So many players have already admitted that going to LaLiga meant a different kind of football. It never was EPL, not even Bundesliga. It was soft.

He’s getting an amazing deal. His MLS salary will be pocket change compared to what he’s used to. But he’s going to make a fortune because he’s partnering with Apple and adidas and will have ownership stakes in those companies. Huge deal. It’s what MLS needs. A true great and LEGEND, a GOAT to play in the league will change the face and culture of the league. Same thing with CR7 and the SPL, many more stars will follow and the league will have no choice but to adjust the salary caps to draw better competition. I will say inter Miami are trash tho. I don’t think even the goat can help them.

Messi is set to become 35% owner of Inter Miami which is worth 200 million USD as of right now- that may be worth more than 500 mil by the time he cashes out, and he will be taxed minimally on these capital gains. A tiny fraction of what he would be taxed on lump sum wages. Additionally, he's got revenue sharing with Apple through Season Pass money that will go to him and Adidas has something with him that probably goes in perpetuity. That doesn't even factor in the other endorsements that are yet to come.
It makes no difference if his wages are 50 mil or 5 mil. He's set to get paid what he's worth based on what he brings to the world's most lucrative sports market, and a great deal of this is unrealized value that will hardly get taxed at all. He isn't even doing the wage game anymore. This is a whole different thing.

That decision makes sense because what the heck is he going to do in Saudi Arabia besides earning a truckload of money? (which frankly at this point, he doesn't need), the Saudis think money is the answer for everything, they only want Messi as a pricey ornament and to further their lobby for the WC 2023, they couldn't care less about the game, let alone having Lio play in a very subpar league. Messi needs to play for real even if it is in the MLS because he wants to be ready for the Copa America 2024.
*Take note CR, have some self respect and find a proper club in a proper league, you can do better.

There is no difference for a player at the end of a career, as an older player, going to a soft league (MLS or Suadi league). There is a huge difference when a player plays a soft league for most of his career (Messi in La Liga) vs a player that kills it in the toughest league (Ronaldo in the EPL). Messi never wanted EPL or Bundesliga. Ronaldo championed all leagues. Lewandowski played Bundesliga, known for big boys on the pitch. Haaland wants to conquer all leagues. Therefore, Messi was NEVER challenged when it came to football.
