I used to be an every day grind for hours type of player. Now I’m more of a play once or twice a week type of player. I have successfully converted into a casual player and doubt I’ll ever turn back
The player base has steadily declined since the acquisition by Epic Games, its common knowledge :)

Updates and events in general have seemingly gotten worse since 2020 (likely epic games). Most events these days are just boring reskins of rumble for example, we get far less golden eggs and so many annoying UI changes (the bar in training for example)

Regarding the rocket pass, although I won’t really use the items, I think it’s important to acknowledge how they actually made a different looking car with a non-flat hitbox. I hate the map, the tooth wheels are a little weird, but at least they did something different with the car.
this seasons rewards were rank themed goal explosions, last season’s were the wheels. agree about the new hotbox though i think it’s refreshing

@@SunlessKhan after 1 or 2 weeks you will end up in octane or dominus ( most prolly octane ) . They could have introduced a new hitbox , I dont think it would have taken weeks to make a new one . It's just that they are lazy as hell. Also about unreal engine 5 , they stated about that 6 months ago . 😳 oof 🤧 rocket league is really dying .
I don't hate it, scarab-esque might actually use it for laughs, think the last rocket pass car I used was the first one.

new rl updates dont bring out any emotion out of me anymore, and its not just because im only a husk of a human that i was like 3 or 4 years ago but the fact that these updates bring nothing to the game but headaches and bugs, more commonly the second thing, just lame in general, love the rizzo bit mr. lesser sun man
All the updates mean to me are the loading times getting longer and longer on my old pc.

Honestly that map couldn’t of taken more than a day right to make and that rocket pass is just a total miss. Not adding new maps into the like/dislike map function is also ridiculous.

@@hussainplayz2441 it's the other way around. They decreased saturation but increased contrast. The high contrast is what makes the eyes hurt, the colors are not over exaggerated, they are bright and washed

You know what I hate about Rocket league? The fact that leaving casual games gets you banned from playing any online games for 10 minutes, then 20 minutes then 40minutes and so on. Even if your internet goes out for whatever reason. It's super frustrating and it's stopped me from playing rocket league
To be fair, it exists to prevent you from messing up comp games, and although it sucks, you wouldn't be being fair to the other comp players if your internet constantly cut out like that.
Not saying I love it either, but it's just the way it is.
Edit: To clarify, I wish it didn't ban you from joining casual matches at all, unless it was really excessive.

Season 6 is a joke. I'm a S6 Plat tournament winner, which is the first tournament I've ever won, but the rocket pass is a mistake. All the stuff in there is garbage and it just screams "Epic, take me back."

1) I am so fucking excited for the unreal engine update. Really hoping we can start getting the console community into custom maps. I want to improve and having custom maps like the flying rings, dribble challenges, etc would be so helpful and fresh.
2) I might be the only person in RL who actually really likes the Neo Tokyo re-skin.
3) Please get the nomad off the starting screen and game tile. Its ugly as hell.

Sunless, have you ever thought about getting 6 people together to try and accurately re-enact RLCS moments and then getting players of various levels to try and guess what the moment is? Thought it might be a cool idea.
I don't think enough people watch it regularly for it to be easy enough to replicate it - or get randos to guess it. (I don't anyhow)

Sunless has improved so much, not just mechanically... But his confidence has skyrocketed. I still remember the vids you would post about getting to 1mil first.
Ran the gauntlet without the new map? You lucky man. My FIRST match in this season was that map and I had to check my settings real quick. I lost horribly because everything looked so blurry

I must be the only person that actually likes the colors on the new map….my depth perception is really bad on all the other maps but something about the brightness and contract on it makes things stand out better for me.

Yeah I personally don’t find the new map too bright at all. The new map from S5 actually bothered me more. It just messed with my eyes and was too distracting even though I liked the design.

I agree this season is an absolute joke. The "new map" is awful. The season pass, the car you get plus the explosions are AWFUL. It literally looks like they let the interns have 2 weeks designing it.

I love the time and effort in the video thank you sunless I have been watching for a while
I don’t play many matches anymore but always tell people that free play is my happy place. RL got vapor through his cancer treatment, and it helped distract me through a really rough time when my dad passed. For that reason I think I’ll always have an emotional attachment to the game.

Rocket League is totally unplayable for me. I can't tell if it's my internet, my controller or Rocket league, but I get latency spikes, my controller freezes for a second quite often making my car stick in 1 direction. The latency spikes up to 400 ping but so briefly no one believes me. This never used to happen even when I had worse internet. No other game has had this many weird issues.

I have the same problem but ping is like 50 but packet loss every second and then I can't score open nets.
Can't even say net is bad they reply by saying your ping is good... 🤦

I don't mind the map, it looks pretty clean to me, with some faults in animation overlay and stuff of course. But I understand why some people might hate it, especially who play with higher brightness. What I can't stand is the shitty potato car they gave in in RLpass. I mean, is it so impossible for them to make a good looking car with the merc hitbox, After the merc and battlebus, I thought, it couldn't get any worse, well, I was wrong.
I don't understand why are people crying for this map much more than for Arc base. This map actually has edges highlighted, and you see only that, you barely see what's outside the map, while the other map from last season, Arc base has such strong colors out of it that I can barely see where the enemy players are without having to focus really hard on it. The colors outside the map are so distracting it's making my eyes watery and defocused, i play 1 game or two games throughout my session on that map and I can't see anything anymore, my focus is done, my session is done.
So I actually unironically like this new design and think that every map should focus on what's inside it and where the edges are instead of how bright the colors are on the outside.
People love to bitch these days, becoming more punks.

I really thought I didnt care about the updates but having new maps which either makes it harder to read the ball or make it harder for my eyes, plus the out of season april fools joke they pulled (ranked rewards) and the toxicity made me leave thr game. I went back to League now and absance of a quick chat really makes a big diffrence.

I was a dedicated gamer since the NES and in 2017 I got sucked into Rocket League and it took over my gaming life for about 3-1/2 years! Then last year I got a PS5 and about 6 months later I just stopped playing Rocket League, even though I still watch RLCS... It wasn't a conscious decision to quit playing, but I no longer have any "drive" to play the game at all.
I can't be the only one who thinks Neon fields and the Space arena (last season arena) were way worse than this new map...

What’s wrong with the cartoon season, I don’t get it. I think it’s a nice change of pace, a new look. It’s not overly bright or with excessive contrast like some of the maps in recent seasons, it’s cell shaded. Dial it back.
no, rocket league had a formular that worked, even when it comes to art work, the new map is going away from that formular, imagine this was the only map rocket league had when it came out and this seasons rocket pass rewards were the only things in the game, the cars etc.
there is no way the game would have had success in general with those assets as the representing theme.
it's easy to look at it that way and conclude that this was a real miss. You should aim to improve or at least keep a standard, not lower your standard.
