I wrote Because He Lives in December of 1970. The baby I held was Ryan Dobson! The final verse was written about Vietnam. Earlier in 1970 I had been kidnapped and ended up in Vietnam along the Mekong River Delta. I was thinking of all the violence of the war as I wrote Because He Lives. I knew that there was still good in the world because of God and His presence here!
The very best of America! Unfortunately only a remnant hold to the faith, and this is reflected in the loss of God's protection, and the chaos engulfing the nation. If the follow the current path I fear worse will befall America and the whole world will suffer.
I wrote Because He Lives on December 2, 1971. I gave birth to my first son Ryan Dobson. He was born on a Sunday which was the second Sunday of Advent that year. I had hemorrhaging after the birth and nearly died. But God in His goodness staunched the bleeding and I returned to normal health. I have more than 4,000 biological children but Ryan Dobson is the most special one!
I don't know what it is about Bill Gaither shouting out the next lyrics as if NOBODY has any idea what's next to sing, but it is TOTALLY obnoxious as it can be. I guess he thinks he is Mitch Miller. I'm surprised he doesn't have the lyrics on a big screen with a bouncing red ball bouncing on the words.
